This was different than the last Peach Cobbler I made google "peach cobbler the neelys" This one is better.

I haven't paid attention to the Price is Right since the days when Monty Hall hosted Let's Make a Deal, so I forgot all the rules!

I'll remember that for the next time!

I like the neelys"

So this brings up another question. I've heard uniforms are expensive compared to regular close. Is that something you would agree with?

Yes...but the thing is that you have to buy clothes either way and depending on the school there will be pressure...especially on girls...to keep changing up their wardrobe.
This way you are always wearing the same thing and your 'regular' clothes are seen less often...so you don't wear the same thing so often...

Just one of my thoughts on it...

It really doesnt matter, if they require uniforms you have to fork over the money for them. Here the state is so broke that teachers are buying alot of the school supplies, and parents are putting out alot of money on certain things teachers want. Its crazy. I feel for parents these days. I cant imagine the costs.

It's kind of strange. My state is not in trouble at all compared to California.

But I had to buy basic supplies, plus Kleenex, and hand sanatizer and clorox wipes. Also dry erase markers for the one little white board in the room, the new school has electronic chalk boards. I think all I'm not buying is paper(Which last I heard is different in CA).

I guess I could see that for girls. But I'd rather they just wear the outfit I prefer everyday anyway.

The things that pass for uniforms around here. While I was turning in the library books there was a girl wearing shorts that were about the length that we used ot wear them in the 70's, remember the nair ads?

The gal was wearing a tank top with spaghetti straps and a camisole underneath tha tthis was supposed to be a HS student!

Got to get the vitamin D going.

Some teachers have to supply their own paper for copying. All classes from k- the university. Its hard to get in the college due to all the cuts. The classes I was taking are few and far between and its hard to learn online.

I'm not surprised. I had a informal niece in Kindergarten and first grade in California. Her mom had to supply paper for the class one or two weeks a year. It wasn't a lot but still an extra $30 for her kid to go to public school.

Its the same with boys. I'm sure I was spending more money on clothes for DS before he started school.

I don't object to buying uniform...I just don't relish the thought of forking out $$$$$ for them.

And should enquiring minds ask what sort of outfits you prefer??? Or is this one of those...back.away.quickly. moments?

What about books? DS is currently in the PS system in Oz. We pay a fairly nominal school fees; and then there is the building fund, the excursion fund and the book fund. I think we're up for about $65 for books and basic supplies such as a box of Kleenex and a USB stick (per child).

I'm pretty sure the school funds the marker pens, hand sanitizers and wipes from this book fund bucket as well. Although, the school has gone totally electronic white boards as well.

Last year, we got to the last semester and I got a message from the teacher that I needed to go get a couple of exercise books for DS. I was real mad...because the book fund was meant to cover the whole year. This year, we didn't even make it to half year when I got the message that DS needed more pencils. :headache:

And what is the definition of an informal niece? I'd like to know....just in case I have some informal nieces around that I don't know about (yet)....:upsidedow

Well it was a ex GF's niece of sort, and because the mother was so welcoming her kids called me uncle. Though we weren't truly related at all and neither was my GF. GF's family could of been on Jerry Springer.

Is this for yourself? Are you planning on wearing a camisole underneath a tank top with spaghetti straps?

If so....pictures, please.

:rotfl:

Okay. Thanks. I can honestly say that I don't have any informal nieces then. I don't have any ex-Girl Friends that I know of. :rotfl:

Time for me to get that nose to the grindstone again.

I'm hoping to be packing up in the next 30 minutes or so.

I've never known anyone that I could have said should have been on Jerry Springer thankfully!

You're lucky! I would rather meet my ex-boyfriends than ex- girlfriends! Fiancees I'm split 50/50 one OK, wait! Fiancées OK, ex-husbands, bad!

When I was young in CA everyone were I lived were sort of preppy skaters. But one girl who I sat next to often wore short skirts or shorts. I remember her well because she would rub her leg against mine all the time. And quite purposely and I would look at her and she would stare strait to the chockboard like nothing was happening. I did catch up with her on FB and she was suprised I remembered her and I was like are you kidding me, I had a giant crush on you. She did acknowlege then 20+ years later that she liked flirting with me. :confused3 At least nobody got preganant before middle school. But white shorts and skirts with a collared shirt stoof out for a brief year.

Then I moved to the mountains. A very different culture. And I was different to them. Something exotic I guess because the girls were all over me when I started school. But the dress was very different, mostly because of cold. But girls in fleece jackets, flannel shirts, and tough footwear. My world flipped over.

Then to the east for college. T shirts and jeans was just fine but skimpy dresses at the party were a lot more fun. Maybe I got smarter as time went on. Because funtion became more important than form. So it had and has to look comfortable and ready for the weather.

I don't think he has used a text yet. And it seems that everything in the library is donated. In a way they ask parents to buy books as donations, which go on the library shelves.

But I guess the school pays for the work books.
