So where we we? Oh yes. Just finished a real good lunch at Cosmic Rays. So what do you do when you want to relax? Why, you take a nice relaxing train ride, of course!
We walked over to Mickeys Toon Town, and caught the train from there. We did the whole circuit, and then walked back over through Fantasyland. I noticed the old skyway building.
I never did figure out why they took it down? Anyone know?
Anyway, back over to Liberty Tree Square to go through the shops and all. Boy, has it gotten crowded!!
So onward we walked. Then decided, hey lets take a break at Tom Sawyer Island!
Spent some time there. The boys really liked this area. Lots to explore. We didnt make it there last time, so pretty much everything was new to them this trip.
It was about time for our retreat, so we headed back over to Main Street. Of course, I had to get a picture with my favorite guy!!
So we finally find the person that is coordinating the retreat. He writes down everything for our certificates, and points us to our Color Guard. We meet and greet, and then we get our instructions in what and how we are supposed to do.
After some instructions, we are told to stand here, and now we wait.
The band marches in next.
They march us up to the flag, and the band starts retreat, and then plays the National Anthem.
The Color Guard lower the flag during the anthem, and then start folding into the familiar triangle.
Once that is complete, the flag is presented to me to hold.
We decided that I would hold the flag this time. Donnas mother and grandmother are coming to Disney in July to visit with us for 3 days. Her grandmother (80 this year, I think, and still does most of the housework!) wanted to see MK one last time, so we will be scheduling another retreat while they are with us, and Donna will take the flag then!
So now we are off on a march up Main Street!!
We made the turn at the first intersection, and stopped for pictures and thanks!
We were very honored to have the chance to do this. We did not expect anything for it, but we received certificates and special one-of-a-kind pins! Wow.
So afterwards, we stuck around Main Street. Did some browsing and shopping. DS17 had found a POC sweatshirt he liked, but not in his size. They told him to go ahead and buy it, and then it would be easy to exchange somewhere else. So, off we go to 4 different shops, but he finally finds the right size!
So now its time for dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. We are all tired with hurting feet, so we check in early, and have a seat!
We get seated at a nice quiet table with room. Food is delivered, and what a feast!! This is another first for us, so we werent sure about the food. We have seen mixed reviews, but we liked everything! Good salad and bread. Entrees were all nice, hot, and tasty! Soon after the salad, who shows up, but Chip!
After the main course, the main Goofy shows up!!
Dessert was a wonderful warm apple cobbler with cream. Oh my that was heavenly!! And then Minnie makes an appearance, and she is being demanding!!
She wants a kiss from the anniversary couple, so who are we to argue?!? I hope Mickey doesnt find out!
So fully sated from an excellent meal, its SpectroMagic time! We snag a good spot near the Liberty Tree, and watch the fun. DS17 took lots of pics that I wont post here. Most everyone has seen the parade or the pics from another poster.
Afterwards, we are dead, so we decide that Wishes can wait for today (but we still get to see it on this trip!). We head out through the back way, and avoid the nuttiness that is Main Street in front of the castle. We take a last pic of the day as we are heading towards the resort bus.
We pretty much crash into bed, tired but absolutely filled with happiness from a most wonderful day in MK!!!
Monday will be EPCOT day! Stay tuned!
