Looking for help. Anyone want to give me a review on "The Living Seeds" tour? I want to surprise my wife with something, difficult when she's doing most of the planning. We're going to Epcot for sure on a Sunday morning (June 8). My wife is a biologist and always enjoys "The Land" attraction. At eight bucks for an hour tour, it sounds like a steal, and the hour length should be about right for me (I have some interest, but would be bored with an elongated tour).

I look forward, as always, to the help!

We took it in 2001 with our kids and really liked it. You get to walk around the green house and get a more in-depth look at the plants and growing techniques and also get to see some of the research labs. Our oldest two kids were 9 and 7 at the time and the oldest one was able to use some the things she learned on the tour when she went back to school.

I agree. We've taken the tour 4 or 5 times over the years and have really enjoyed it. The research lab part of the tour is fascinating and there is always a nice question/answer session. Getting to walk around the growing areas and take the time to see all the techniques and plants is also terrific. It's DW's favorite attraction in all WDW.

One more question to both of you, I get conflicting info online. Can this tour be reserved in advance, or only on site?

Thanks so much for the help, the reviews were great!

Thanks,

Pat

We did ours "walk-up". I have no idea if CRO can do that for you or not... I'd give 'em a call.

we took this in December and loved it - very interesting! If it is still the same now, they do not take advance reservations - on the day that you want to take to tour, go to the cash register at the gift shop adjacent to the food court area [near where you disembark from the ride I think] and they will sign you up. We took it on our last day and thought it was a really nice change of pace. Have fun!

I also have done this tour. I went with my brother and my son. It was a lot of fun. My son certainly enjoyed it. You can actually see the boats going around the ride as you walk behind the plants. They tell you a lot about the hydroponics that they are using.

We also signed up for the tour as a walk up. You go right to the gift shop next to the food court to sign up. That is where the tour starts too.

Have Fun!

Thanks to everyone for the help.

I've just called the CRO, who sent me to 407-WDW-TOURS. In fact, this tour can be booked in advance, but only the noon and 2:30 tours. All the others must be walkup. I'm not sure why noon and 2:30. Of course, we have a 1:30 PS at Le Cellier the day we go, so picking one of those times would be pushing it. I'm working under the theory (knock on wood) that few people want to take the first tour in the AM.

Thanks again for the info!

how hot is it in the greenhouse for the tour (in August)?

They keep the air moving in there. It's the same green houses that "The Land" boat ride goes through so they've got to keep it realitively comfortable.

As a followup, I was able to book "Behind the Seeds" for June 8 at 2:30. Current price is $8 a head. It's just like the dinner shows, not a PS. They took my card number, and if we change our minds we have to cancel 48 hours prior. I was told that they are currently spending half the tour concentrating on hydroponics, the other on the fishery, including their aligator farm. And I thought to myself, "they're raising Aligators in Epcot?" Should be neat....
