The Lads Only Trip
9th - 11th March 2009
Pre Trip
The Cast
Me (John) - 26 year old who loves Disney Pixar films and has an unhealthy obsession for Toy Story and all things Toy Story related. Is leaving his lovely wife behind to look after our adorable new baby.
DS (Kacee) - 18 month old dribble monkey who loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and My Friends Tigger and Pooh and "Little Einsteins". This will be Kacee's third trip in only 6 months!
The Background
Lurking on the DIS boards as usual I spotted a post by Davewasballoo detialing the new AP holder discounts. When I saw that they were 50% I just had to make a call to DLRP. I was handed a quote of £57.40 for two nights at the Cheyenne. Initially I didn't book it as it will be so soon after my wife had given birth to our second son however she told me that I should book it as it would do us all good. She thought that Kacee would benefit from some time with just his Daddy and that her and the baby would benefit from some time alone. With the Ok from the Wifey I called again, was given the same quote and booked it straight away. Eurostar was booked shortlty afterwards as it was cheaper to go by Eurostar than to drive! HB standard vouchers are also booked and we are thinking of Annettes on Monday night and the Cheyenne Buffet on Tuesday night, although I may swallow my pride and eat in McDonalds on Monday night and save Annettes until Wednesday night as the last thing we do before we come home. We are planning on telling Kacee that this is a present from his new brother and that his new brother wants him to check out the rides he can go on for May. Unfortunatly as I have used all of my Annual Leave for this year I've been working from 8am to 5:30pm every day for 6 weeks, including a few Saturdays, to try and earn the flexi time to cover the three days off work that I need. I'm hoping that this trip will bring back some of the magic that Disney lost for me in December, if not then maybe May will be a week in the French Countryside instead!
Three weeks before leaving I got a telephone call from Disneyland, they have upgraded us from the Cheyenne Hotel to the Newport Bay Club Hotel...for free. This is in reponse to my complaint regarding the trip in December
Oh and a week ago Uncle Matty booked his Eurostar and has joined us as a massive surprise to both me and Kacee
Trip Goals
* Try Kacee on the Eurostar for future trips.
* Get to stay in the Newport Bay Club Hotel for the first ever time!
* Spend some quality time with Kacee.
* See just how difficult Disney is on my own with a toddler!!
* Attempt to make Park Opening at 8am.
* Chill out doing all the rides that Kacee wants to do.
* Meet as many characters as possible, especially Mickey as Kacee only realy got to meet him once in December and that wasn't a very pleasent experience!
