The "L" Word starts tonite!!!

OMG, spoilers ahead........

Can I just say that I was about to jump out of my skin when I saw Karina Lombard's name in the opening credits?!?! The woman is just so freakin' beautiful. Without Carmen, at least I had a little Marina. :thumbsup2 Anyway, I wonder why no one addressed the issue of where her husband was!??!! The way they ended her story was just too odd. But, I have to say that the three-way that fell apart and turned into just Jenny's GF and Marina was not what I wanted to see as a three way or just the two-some. But, then again, I am not a fan of Jenny's or her new GF or Max. Oh yeah, can we please write Max out soon. I HATE "his" voice. If I have to hear him talk about his "T" one more time.

I did love the lawyer breaking it all down for Bette & Tina. Thank God we don't have to endure a custody battle.

Shane....what a waste of a cool character.

The abortion......what the?!?!!

OurChart.com ---- oooooh.....dredging up the past and present women in my life......OMG, I had one GF that slept with hundreds......I think that at one point, she might have given Shane a run for her money. However, I have only 7 women in my bed over the past almost 40 years. Sorry if that is TMI. But, I have to say that the thought of seeing a real life chart in action appeals to me.

Now, who the heck is Papi?!?!

Ok, now, with all of that said, it was a better episode than usual and I can't wait to see next Sunday's new episode. Maggie

Loved it!!!

I seriously crush on Shane, so my heart broke a little bit for her this show. I'm always surprised at how quickly she can get herself into trouble, and into physical altercations with guys!! Carmen's cousins -- :scared:

Marina ... she was intriguing when she first came on the scene, but now she just seems kind of trite and "easy." :confused3 Sorry, for those of you crushing on her. ;) I lost interest with her when she "fell in love" with Jenny.

Jenny's still Jenny. My favorite part was when she told Max that they weren't together anymore because he/she identified as a straight man and she was a lesbian. :rotfl: I can't wait to find out how it plays out with Max dating the boss's daughter.

The premier went by tooo fast. I was hoping for a double episode to celebrate opening night, but nope. :guilty:

Hmmm can I say this?….I was bored. I am hoping that it picks up and I anticipate that it will. It just felt like something was off.

I thought it was a pretty entertaining episode!

We'll see what other surprises are in store for us this season...

Hey Viki - Your Eagles have a tough one this weekend!! Are you having a playoff party? If so, can we all come? ;)

(I'll bring some martini makings) :cool2:

Ok I figured it out, there just wasn’t any happiness in the episode.

Oh and Viki....your team crushed my girls hopes of following my team (the Pgh Steelers) to the super bowl last week....... She will get over it (I have no idea how a Pa girl can be a Giant fan?) anyway good luck to your team it would be cool to see back to back Pa championships! (And I will never hear the end of it from my friends in San Diego if the chargers win!)

Hey, friends, yes indeed there WILL be an Eagles get together at our place this evening and you all are absolutely invited!

On the menu is a "special" deli sandwich with hard salami, provolone, swiss, and barbque chicken, along with cream cheese, EVOO, onions, peppers, and thinly sliced tomatoes, all tucked inside a round french loaf, chilled and cut into slices, like pie. :cake: (sorry, couldn't find a pie!)

With that, will be an assorment of cheeses, crackers, and warm crab dip.

Of course there will also be an assortment of beer (the boys insist) and, you guessed it, MARTINIS!!! I've got some nice bleu-cheese stuffed italian olives and spanish almonds too. Yum, yum.:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Now all we need is a decent game!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thoughts on last night's episode? I wasn't horribly impressed.

Spoiler alert...
I knew that the reviewer from Curve magazine was going to trash Jenny, it was so obvious. I hate when ppl on TV shows are dumb. ;) I thought Phyllis' disclosure seemed phoney and over the top. You just wouldn't open up like that to an employee, IMO. Bette seemed so uncomfortable with it. Max is asking for huge amounts of trouble dating the boss' daughter. I cannot imagine what he is thinking. You know when she finds out that he will lose his job. Shane is depressing me this season and she was always my favorite character. Is Carmen going to come back at all, or is she totally off the show? I don't think Kit should have let herself be swayed into having the abortion. She is so sad about it. Papi cracked me up, but it was a bit too sleezy for me. I bet she sleeps with all of them before the season is up. Bette and her TA interested me. I am curious to see what happens there.

I thought it was a lot better than the 1st episode...I love the show, don't get me wrong..but I thought the 1st season was the funniest, now there isn't much to laugh at just a lot of drama. At least last night there was some good one liners-gotta love Alice! She looks good this season-other than the blue eye shadow?!

I had to leave early on Monday morning to fly to FLA for this training event, so I didn't even make it through Desperate Housewives, so I did NOT read the spoiler alert above and now have something to look forward to when I get home.

On an interesting not, we've begun hanging out with a "straight" couple and after watching the Eagles lose their playoff game the other evening, I briefly changed the channel to the end of last week's episode, which included the potential 3-way. I never thought twice about it, but my partner later told me she was a bit anxious it was all a bit much for them. Yikes. I just assume if they can handle hanging out with us they can stomach a bit of this show. But maybe not?

I thought last night's episode was pretty good. I loved the scene at the party when all the lesbians guessed "Lily Tomlin" from the clues that were given but had no idea who Terrill Owens was. I also loved the scene where Shane met Papi, the whole "showdown at the OK Corral" image was funny.

All in all, a good episode....now bring on Marlee Matlin!!!!!

Now, see, I LOVED the first two episodes, but I thought last night's episode was a bit ... slow.

I agree, though, the Shane/Papi set up was super!

Bump!

I, for one, have been enjoying this season!

I think that this season is really starting to pick up.

I love the chemistry between Bette and Jodi. Jennifer Beales and Marlee Matlin have been friends for years and have been on record as saying that they are both loving this opportunity.

Cybil Shepard is doing a great job and I can't wait to see what happens between Alice and Rose and how that affects Phyllis.

All in all, it has me wanting to see more at the end of each episode.

Linda

Yes, I ended up watching the show twice last night (fell asleep during DH and then was up, up, up).

The highlight for me is watching everyone hate Jenny (and for such good reasons).

I also like Max and I would have thought I would have been more into the military romance, but so far it only has its moments - though it looks like they're going to delve into combat-related PTSD, which would be swell.

I just watched the last two episodes so I'm all caught up. I'm glad they're using humor - the first episode with Shane crashing was so depressing that I was afraid the whole season would be like that. Jenny is just too annoying, each episode she stoops even lower. I'm not a fan of Max but sticking up for the girl at work was nice.

I can't imagine what it's like for Jennifer Beals and Marlee Matlin to have love scenes together. But that shows how good they are at their craft.

You know the one thing that has been bothering me - almost everyone is just jumping into bed with all kinds of people with little to no build up. I know I'm OLD, but I'm not even talking about morality. I'm talking about BUILD UP, ANTICIPATION, taking the time to develop characters, story, sparks, longing ... something.

Am I too much of a girl for the L Word?:confused3

Viki - I know what you mean but I chalk it up to an accelerated pace that is required for tv. When Bette was telling Jodie about her daughter she said she's a toddler, almost 2 years old. I can't recall exactly when the baby was born but it definitely doesn't seem like it was 2 years ago. I think it's the same thing with all the relationships - we're only seeing bits and pieces in turbo mode for tv.

By the way, one of my favorite lines was when Bette told Alice to break up with Phyllis and Alice protested say that she already did. Bette replied "some lesbians you have to break up with more than once" ... kind of reminds me of an ex!! :rotfl:

You know, Ladies -- I'm totally with Sister Viki on this one. I am not a regular viewer so I don't know a lot of the back stories. Even so, I did catch one episode a couple weeks ago. The one with Poppi? That was a tad bit beyond belief. Wam. Bam. Thank you, Maam. :confused3 Viki -- excuse me, you have occasionally alluded to having something of an interesting past in your youth? Well, I did too about a billion years ago --and even at my wildest, I useta kiss'em first at least. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
