The King, the Queen, and the Teen.... going HOME to the Kingdom!

Ok so I am really interested in the auto train thing now. I am going to see if it's possible from here but I bet it will take FOREVER to get there! :lmao:

well not forever... but it might feel like it:rotfl2: I think...if I remember right, it took us about 6hrs from Parma Hts to DC. So that added to a 17 hr overnight train ride...hmmmm However..that is only about 3hrs longer than it takes us now:confused3 But if you combine it w/ a day or 2 at DC either going or coming..now THAT would make a cool (and educational) detour/add on to a WDW trip:thumbsup2

Yep, it's around 6 to DC. Just did that last week actually for work. So it's about 24 hours to get there that way next to two and a half by air. Hmmm, I don't see me selling that to Joe any time soon. :rolleyes1

Well since tomarrow WOULD have been my ADR day, if they hadn't gone back to the 90 day window, I thought I'd share some of our ADR 'intentions.'

I'm not one who plays...a lot.... with my ADRs once I set them. But for this trip, I'm glad that I have 3 more months to decide! I have 5 restaurants pretty well decided, but am debating between, oh, about 9 for the other 2 slots:scared:

The 1st 2 are no-brainers...because they are the only 2 that DS asked to go to. I'm all about making the boy happy...or whatever the teenaged equivellent to 'happy' is:rotfl2:

Kyle's 2 picks are:

Chef Mickey's
Hollywood and Vine (dinner)

He really loved both..and believe me, we get our $$ worth when we belly that boy up to a buffet!!

Tom's one and only pick:

50's prime Time

we've never eaten there, but once he heard the 'home cooking' menu...he wanted it added for sure!!

My picks:

Le Cellier
Boma breakfast
Beaches and Cream lunch

I love Le Cellier, and I think DH will too:upsidedow I'm not sure if DS will like it or not, but I figure worst case senario... we get him 2 hotdogs. In '06 we ate at Marrekesh and there was nothing on the menu that appealed to him (he wasn't a 'child' then either) but they let him order from the kids menu...but enlarged the entree for an 'adult' price(lots more fries than the girls got w/ real kids meals...and a double burger, rather than the single on the menu) I'm sure that Le Cellier will work with us as well.

I definately want to take the boys over to AKL and spend some time checking out Kidani!! So I'm thinking Boma breakfast (OOP) on our last morning! We have til 12:30 or so on property that day, so I think we may go to bfst, then spend a little time checking out our new 'HOME'

Kyle loves burgers... last trip, he ate a hamburger for every meal...that wasn't a buffet!! So I KNOW that Beaches and Cream will be right up his alley! This may be OOP too, as it will probably be a lunch.

We are doing the DDP... not the DxDDP, although I am considering upgrading it. I think there will be lots of eating on this trippie! My concern is that it'll be so hot, we won't want to eat that much! DS definately is a 3 squares a day kid... and the extra snacks are no biggie either, I'll get Mickey Rice Krispie treats to take home to use up the rest, plus we will probably drink alot more water and what not due to the heat.

One thing I really love about the DVC thing, is I don't pay for the DDP until we arrive! So I have plenty of time to weigh my options on upgrading or not:thumbsup2

The other places that are on the ADR 'short list' are:
Garden Grill
Maya Grill
1900 Park Faire (bfst)
Mama Melrose
Tutto Italia
Yachtsman
Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)
Kona

Well I guess the list isn't so 'short' after all:rotfl2:

I suppose we could just do the DxDDP..so then I don't have to decide right???

Stay tuned.... my next episode will return to a 'normal' progression and discuss RESORTS!!

Beaches & Cream and Le Cellier are definitely two of my very favorites! :thumbsup2 All your other choices look great too.

Your choices look great!! Yummo.

I think it's really sad that you can't make your ADR's tomorrow. :rotfl: That's the obsessive planner in me coming out! ;)

I'm starving now. Every time I read people's ADR selections, I'm starving.

Me too... I was hunting for snacks as I was writing it LOL!!!

I was talking to Tom and Kyle last night RE dining options... they both looked at me like I was :joker: crazy!!:joker:
Kyle was like...Mom, it's like half a year away...why don't you worry about what you're making me for supper TOMARROW!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh silly little non-DISers.... just don't understand:rotfl:

Oh the truth in that!!! We are already making ADR lists for gnomefest (and frankly, I know what I will order) but I haven't eaten breakfast yet because I don't know what I want and frankly....I'm lazy. (but I would RUN down main street to grab a ginormous cinnamon roll right now!)

Hi Paula!!:wave2:

Just stumbled on your new PTR!! Don't know how I missed it, but glad I found it!!! A boys trip!! That will be fun..and different! Your Kyle sounds like my Ethan (who is only 6!) who really doesn't care to have too much to do with Mommy most days but when it counts, he's there and worried. They are sweet that way....just wish I got more on a daily basis...oh well, maybe someday!! :goodvibes

Looking forward to hearing all about your plans!!!!

:wave2: Hi Kristen!!!
Glad you stumbled upon us:goodvibes Boys are funny that way.. either they are super cuddly, or reall standoff-ish..... rarely do you see a happy medium!!

Kyles a good kid... he's just 'emotionally reserved' Which make it always interesting trying to do something for him, cause I never really can tell how it's been recieved LOL!!!

I completely understand, my Ethan sounds like a Kyle in the making...I"m always checking to see if he's having fun or whatever cause he's so serious and never just lets loose. My little old man....lol!!! :rotfl:

OOOOHHH...Paula you have some great choices...Beaches and Cream sounds so yummy that is somewhere I would love to try sometime!!! Both 50's PTC and Chef Mickey's were really yummy I really liked them!!!

YAY for Mickey Rice Krispy treats...Prince Phillip really liked his LOL

If we had time I'd love to eat at Beaches and Cream--but our dining schedule won't permit it :(

awww that stinks:sad1:

I know :( With our dining plan we just don't have time..unless I switch out one or we end up going to Boardwalk (is that where it is?) I WILL not be trying the Kitchen Sink---I've seen pictures of it and OMG even if it was sugar free ice-cream I'd never eat all that.

I'm thinking we may do it as an early lunch... walk over from Epcot. If we have an early Lunch, well just have a little something for bfast (Ill probably have coffee LOL) Kyles not into rides much...even at Epcot, but I'm gonna try to get him on TT this year... I doublt I'll be successful..but I'm gonna try:thumbsup2

There's one full day we're at Epcot but have ADR's at Arkershus and Teppen Edo that night. We want to experience more of the character meals since I never have in my six trips to WDW. :)

Subbing to your trippie! Sounds like you will have loads of fun! We just became DVC members too this past Dec. So much fun planning our stays at home, huh? :) Got a questions for you with regards to the DDP. I see you plan on purchasing it when you get to your hotel, but, can you make ADR's 90 days out prior to actually having the DDP? I'm not sure how this works being a DVC member :confused3 Anyway, can't wait to hear more of your plans!

Hi I'm so glad you joined us!!:goodvibes

From what I understand... even with DVC, you can book 90 days from your arrival date... regardless of if you have the DDP or not.

The only big difference for DVC is whereas if you book a regular room and get the DDP, its considered a package so it needs paid in full 45 days before arrival. With DVC, the DDP is an 'add on' not a package, so you pay for it on arrival. Gives me a few extra weeks to save:thumbsup2

Hopefully I understood it right.... Oh and you can use Magical Express too when you stay on points... they asked me if I needed it added:goodvibes

With any luck MEK will be stopping by here soon... she's been a DVC member for about a year (or a bit more)... I hit her up with questions all the time:rotfl: If I'm mistaken.... MEK PLEASE correct me!!!!!

Paula

We rented DVC points this summer. Paula you have it right, ADR's can be made at the same time regardless of dining plan or not. When staying DVC, you do have to declare your intention of doing the dining plan before checking in (like at least a week maybe) but you don't pay for it until you arrive.

Keep in mind Paula, from my understanding, they have people through DVC who can make your ADR's for you so you don't have to go through Disney Dining. I don't know if you can call them before the 90 day window and they can get you in when the time comes? That may only be an advantage for the really hard to come by ADR's (Kyle is planning on dining with Cindy at her castle right? ;) ) but worth looking into
