Please tell me I am a good wife!!!

H is mad on fishing and can't believe we are planning our Florida holiday without a planned fishing day!!!

Anyway, I was watching an advert that was out in Flroida on something called the 'Instant Fisherman' (its a folding mini rod n reel) where these guys were just hopping out of their cars to fish in various lakes etc with it.

Well I dont know if its any good or not but I ordered him one!!! That way, if it rains you'll probably catch him with his wee rod n reel fishing in a puddle whilst I'm out shopping and spending all his money!!! :hyper:

Anyone else got one of these? I know there are a few fishing widows on here!!!!

Very true, Kaylee ;)

Lisa, DH always packs his collapsible fishing rod wherever we go  and when anyone asks me what kind of fishing he does, I always say he'd try the nearest puddle if it looked deep enough. So I know what you're up against!

I don't know whether DH's set up is the same as the Instant Fisherman, but it sounds as though it must be similar.

If your DH wants any Florida fishing tips, feel free to ask as I know there are also some other fishing folk who visit the boards (Keith and Carol have helped my DH in the past).

Tight lines :)

Hi Hilary :wave2:

Any tips would be good. I would like him to go fishing one day out there so if there are any excursions that aren't too far away from Orlando, that would be great.

He had heard that there's a place near Bush Garden that has shops (to keep me happy!) and a fishing lake but we don't know where it is.

Thanks

Hmm, sorry but I don't think I can help on those questions.

DH's Florida fishing pattern tends to be excursions in boats when we're away from Orlando (Gulf coast / Keys) and just finding the nearest bit of fishable waterway near our resort in Orlando. He's never been on anything organised in or near Orlando (or Bush Gardens area). I know you can participate in bass trips on Bay Lake, organised through WDW recreation, and we've seen the boats out when we've arrived at MK some mornings.

If it's any help, whilst in WDW, DH has fished the waterways at POR (not the 'organised' fishing hole, but the general waterway) and OKW resorts, but was told he couldn't fish from WL :o . His favourite (and most successful) has been the lake at OKW. I don't know what licence arrangements he made, but it may be that whatever he had for the coastal part of the trip also covered him for Orlando (does that make me sound totally uninterested in the details? LOL ;) ).

He's also been like the proverbial pig in clover when we've had a couple of rented villas on the Gulf coast which had canal systems at the end of the garden  Any spare five minutes and he could just drop a line in.

Maybe someone else can help with excursion info from Oralndo, or maybe your DH will be able to fish at / near your accommodation.

One other thing - DH finds all the excursions are expensive! Most of them are priced per boat, rather than per person, which obviously makes it very expensive if you're on your own. However, he does say that the equipment, etc., is always first class and would put to shame most UK charters!;)

well the instant fisherman should keep him happy for now!!!!

We'll see what we can sort out when out there - we are planning on going down the coast one day. We only have a 5 day hopper pass so he'll be too busy to go fishing when we're there!!!!

You never know - this is just a taster holiday with all the family - we might go back on our own next year and take it a bit easier and spend a few days on the Gulf Coast.

Thanks
