The "I'll Never Have A Trip Report" March 2013 PTR [9/15]

Let's Just File These Under "Trip Related Purchases"...
shall we?

So the other day, Monday to be exact, my DBf was browsing away on his employer's website, when he stumbled upon two things he just had to have, and his reasoning was that: 1- he can wear the hat to work [true], 2- the bill on his old hat got messed up [also true], and 3- he can use the backpack at Disney and I don't have to carry his crap anymore [super triple extra true!!!!]. I was sold.

hwl

his brand new backpack.
He'd been tossing around the idea of getting a classic Jansport like the one I have, but found this instead. I won't argue, it was way cheaper and he got a discount.

hwl

and his hat! he let me decide between four he really liked, and I picked this one! it's got a black and white logo on the back, too.

I had to steal both of these photos from the interwebs because he had them shipped to his store. They arrived today, and he's not home yet...

but then I started to feel left out in the online shopping extravaganza that was happening in our bed that morning, so I ordered something from that beautiful place known as eBay. But what was it?!

ekkawg.jpg

mine arrived WEDNESDAY! I couldn't believe it!
I definitely was expecting a way longer wait!
please note the dog snout in this picture. this is foreshadowing.

BUT WHAT IN CARMEN SANDIEGO'S WORLD IS IT?!

2igdilc.jpg

Pins! A whole slew of them! 100, to be exact!
these are the only ones I decided to keep, which is good.
last time I ordered some [I went halfzies with DBf's now SIL],
I liked too many of them!
The last few weeks, I've started to run out of "traders" from the first round.
I've had to delve into my stash of
"well, I like these, but...I could trade them"-s.

2vazd5y.jpg

well, and these guys!
the HM vinylmation because I adore vinylmations and tend to collect vinylmation pins,
the dove because I love all things dove-related
for sentimental reasons,
and what is affectionately referred to as "Party Stitch #2".
[see photograph below]

6yfpg4.jpg

my lanyard is still currently Star Wars'd up,
but you can see Party Stitch at the top.
Here's the deal with PS:
I love Stitch. I think he's hysterical.
I can also do a SPOT ON impression of him,
much to the DISmay [see what I did there?] of DBf.
He says it's creepy because I don't sound like myself,
and he can't figure out how I do it.
Then, my DBF'sSIL found out my birthday is "Stitch" in Disneystrology
Don't even pretend you don't know what Disneystrology is.
well if you don't, click [[here]]
AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF,
when we ordered the pins,
there was one Pin I had to have and keep.
His name was Party Stitch.
He, and I quote (...myself),
"Party Stitch is all party, all the time."
If I was a wizard, he'd be my patronus.
Party Stitch is my Spirit Animal.
Other pins may come and go,
but Party Stitch transcends celebrations,
Party Stitch is here to stay.

dzf9zr.jpg

the entire time I was trying to take these pictures
[keep in mind, I took these tonight, not Wednesday like the package]
this brat kept sticking her nose in the shot
and tried to eat my stuff!
she's such a brat.
I'd be more irritated, if she wasn't so dang cute.

While I'm at it, and before DBf gets off of work, I might as well show off our Disney shelf!

35k6h6w.jpg

the Autograph book on the left is mine from when I was a wee tot!
also on the left:
our lucky cat from Japan
star wars vinylmations: obi wan chaser, darth vader, and lando

then in the middle:
a really cute tray my BFF got me from Target!
assorted "keeper" pins
our new passholder booklets & my homemade Ellie Badge <3
F&W vinylmation from last year!

and lastly on the other side:
our new vinylmation collections
-mine's Park 8, his are Holiday...2? 3? whichever is the new one.
-for Christmas, we got the REAL cute Mickey and Minnie coffee cups
from Santa, and to match, we got the huge sampler pack of coffees!
they're really cute, so we clean them out and keep them.
they currently house the last remaining "trader" pins
and then finally, my pride and joy.
The Sleeping Beauty Castle nightlight my mom bought before I was born.
It's been in my bedroom or bathroom my entire life.

DSC_0272.jpg

sorry this one's so big, photobucket is being a jerk.
on the top shelf are my ears from when I was a tiny baby
[same time as my autograph book]
and ears from my 19th birthday, when you got in free.
plus the camera DBf usually uses.
along with Disney 20Q's from my BFF.
she might know me too well.
I've stumped it a few times, but it's pretty good.
then on the bottom shelf are our
"One More Disney Day" ears.
That night was so much fun!

but I'm pretty sure that's all for now!
I have something really cutesy planned for next Friday,
so I'll probably have an update Saturday,
considering I actually got TWO WHOLE DAYS off work,
AND THEY'RE CONSECUTIVE!
the world must be ending...

oh and before anyone flames me for buying pins off ebay:
I buy from a highly rated seller,
in the united states,
and meticulously check
every.
single.
pin.
on pinpics.
well, except for the ones I plan on keeping.
because those don't really matter :D

Disney Dinner Date #1
Lady and the Tramp!

Recently, I put on my big girl pants and paid off my library fine. Granted, it was only like 10 bucks, but I still feel like an awful person having to admit I had an overdue graphic novel for...two months...especially when some of those ladies have been checking out books to me since...before my books had chapters!

...Is there a point to this?

OH YEAH! So we've been watching Disney movies on DVD from the library, because we only own them on VHS and my mom kidnapped our VCR and took it to her house, and we're trying too hard to save money to buy them on DVD!

We have a list of movies we want to watch [seriously, it's about 40 movies long, and growing every time we think of a new one], and I am absolutely smitten with the Disney-themed Family Nights thread. I definitely knew I wanted to do these to help pass the time until our trip...

So I'll modify them in to super cutesy dinner dates! nothing too fancy, just watching Disney movies and eating foods that are slightly relevant! We've stopped going on superfluous dates [however, Taco Tuesday is still a weekly staple in our diets...], so this helps us to still feel like we're on a "date" without our savings taking a hit.

I started with an easy one this time, and set the whole thing up while J was closing at work!

I seasoned the meat while watching Pretty Little Liars [my new addiction; so glad season 2 is on the 'Flix now...], and finally busted out the crock pot my mom gave me last summer as a "pre-house warming" gift. I have a HUGE one, and a tiny one, but not one this size...it's perfect for the two of us.

3ybdv.jpg

meatballs browned and plopped in the sauce!

1sdpg8.jpg

after giving the sauce a head start, I put in garlic bread "bones"
just the pillsbury canned ones, with the ends tied in to knots :]

1ox8qu.jpg

here's how they came out!

2dbqe15.png

I just have to share these glasses.
My momma randomly called me one day and asked if I was at home.
I said I was, and she responded with "I'll be there in a few minutes."
ugh, okay.
I opened the door to her carrying a GIGANTIC box stuffed with newspaper.
She says, "I found this entire set at the thrift store, for 8 bucks, and I decided you HAD to have them."
and pulls out these PRECIOUS glasses.
I am obsessed with bows, and this is a complete set of 24.
I haven't had a chance to really use them until now,
and we christened two of them with mediocre wine. lol
I don't know why we always want to try a wine with dinners.
Neither of us really like it. He'd rather have a craft beer, and I'd rather have a cider, or anything involving the word "Bailey's".
However, we have a new key lime pie place in my town.
I tried some of their wine the other day, and holy moly was it delicious!

dwp3x0.jpg

after the room is pretty much set up, I put the pasta on!

2130pd4.jpg

the timer on the stove goes off, alerting me that the spaghetti is done,
but I don't trust it until it passes the "sticks to the cabinets" test.

30mplop.jpg

caesar salad, as requested by J earlier in the week.
He knew we were having spaghetti for dinner, but the rest was a surprise!
I know this one is sideways, but I don't have the patience for it right now lol

1otwsk.jpg

everything all set up, sans the entree
excuse the laptop, though.
apparently, there are only 3 DVD copies of L&tT in circulation in our county.
all of which were checked out/on hold.
So I had to find it online.

J was so surprised! He was so excited about the fancy set up, but couldn't figure out why we needed the laptop, when we could just watch Netflix on the tv. I asked if he saw what was on the laptop, which he hadn't. Then everything clicked and the look on his face made my heart melt.

we made our plates, and started the movie!

0007332100023_500X500.jpg

we had Luigi's for dessert.
I didn't take this picture, I borrowed it from Google.

2my0tn6.jpg

Another thing I wanted to do was something cute to commemorate each of our date nights.
In the movie, when the pups are going around town, they put their paw prints in cement. Someone on the forum had their kids do that in plaster of paris I think, but I didn't want to do that,
so I came up with this instead.
It's a plain picture frame, that I wrote "The spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly" on the glass.
[I couldn't find my paint pen, and I still can't, but when I do, the lettering will be retraced.]
it's from an Owl City song, and I thought the lyrics were cute.
I also snuck in a hidden mickey. :thumbsup2

2ez1ml4.jpg

this is how it ended up.
I think it's precious, even if you can't really tell our hands are supposed to make a heart... heh.

buuuuuttt....yeah.
I'm deeming this a success.
It was cheap.
It was romantic.
It was fun.
It definitely helped pass time.
The total cost was under $20, including the picture frame. granted, these aren't extravagant food items. We probably have pasta/sauce in some form at least once a week. hah.

I'm striving to make this a monthly thing, and can't wait to keep sharing them! it really helps to have something little to look forward to while we're looking forward to something big!

Im in!! Congrats on your soon to be anniversary!! You guys are adorable :cutie: Cant wait to read more!

first things first, I just wanted to let y'all know that I am currently at my momma's condo, and can see the Disney [& non Disney] cruise ships at Port Canaveral from her balcony. We're headed out to the Ron John's Resort for the day/night/tomorrow, thanks to her taking a timeshare tour!

on with the PTR!

We are rapidly approaching our 180 day mark, which is the most excited a Dis-er can be more than one hundred days from a vacation.

So for the last week or so, we [read:I] have been going back and forth between the Deluxe Dining Plan[DxDP] and Tables in Wonderland[TiW]. With the price increase and half of our restaurants not being on the list/bumped up to twice the credits [I'M LOOKING AT YOU, LE CELLIER], was it worth it?

I hemmed.

I hawed.

Then I came to the conclusion that the last thing I wanted to do for three days was have to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for food multiple times a day. I'd rather shell out ridiculous amounts of money for food before my dainty little feet ever step foot in our resort.

So, we read over menus, replaced those that aren't on the 'plan next year, and rearranged our schedule. So I present to you, my loyal readers [all none of you], our first day's tentative schedule!

Monday: March 25th, 2013.
-wake up at some ungodly hour.

no, really.

-I plan to be ON THE ROAD by 6am.
hopefully this means a cooperative DBF for packing the car Sunday night after we get home from family dinner...

-Traditional breakfast from the other Mickey, MickeyD's.
pretty much 99% of the time we stop at the same one before officially hitting the road.

-Check in to Port Orleans French Quarter no later than 7:30.
It's about a 45 minute drive to the parks, but I'm not sure about POFQ. I could look it up, buuuuttt.....I'm lazy. I don't care if our room is ready, I just want our room keys because...

-It's Early EMH at Hollywood Studios from 8-9!
That gives us an ample amount of time to hit the staples: TSMM, ToT, RnRC, ST:tAC. Pretty much anything you can abbreviate. And hopefully grab some TSMM fastpasses with a return time around 11ish, which is usually when we finish the rest of the ride-or-die's on the list. Maybe sneak in a quick character sketch?

-Lunch:
Here's kind of how I'm feeling about lunch right at this second. We have two options for lunch, one of which is in Epcot, the other is in DHS, where we are planning on being anyways. I'm kind of leaning towards an early lunch at...

-Sci Fi!
This guy looks AWESOME. DBF is super excited to go here, and I can't say I disagree. It's a first for us. Actually, every place we're trying is new to us, except one. Well, two, but neither of us were over the age of 5 when we ate at the second place...

-After lunch...
I'm sure our room will be pretty close to ready, if not already so. Therefore, my vote is to go back to the room, relax for a little while, and get ready for dinner. I also want to take anniversary pictures around the resort. Mostly because we'll be dressed fancy for...

-dinner at YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE!
we are so. freaking. excited for this. With Le Cellier going to two credits, we wanted to find some place else to eat. And we easily could have, but then I started looking at the signatures. Then I wasn't sure if I wanted SIX ADR's. Five was plenty, and if it meant I got to eat delicious steak, I AM SO DOWN. I want to make this for around 5:30 or 6, because we're going to try...

-JELLYROLLS!
This trip is about doing things we normally wouldn't at Disney, and I thought this would be perfect. DBF agrees. We're going to be right there on the boardwalk, dressed to the nine's from dinner, and we went to another dueling piano bar in Orlando for DBF's brother and sister-in-law's bach party last spring. It was a lot of fun, and will hopefully be an awesome end to our first day!

The only other thing I absolutely WANT to do is take pictures in the Photobooth on the BoardWalk. DBF has consented. I am pleased.

We went on an adventure last week to the Disney Outlet, ON A MISSION, and I got a bunch of neat-o stuff. I took pictures, and brought my camera....buuuut I forgot to bring the card reader, so you'll just have to wait until later for that nonsense!

What do you all think our other FOUR ADRs are?!?
