It sure as hell wasn't me. I wouldn't be caught dead in that thing!

I am back from my first meeting with Javier. We did mostly machines -- arms, legs, stomach, some bicep curls with 8 lbs dumbbells (everything was 2 sets of 12, with a 30 second break between sets). Not too bad. And then he said, "why don't we do cardio?" I said "sure, that's easy". I should know better after our testing meeting. He put me on the rower which I used to do years ago. Hey, I can do this. And then he tells me he wants me to do 2000 meters. So I start rowing and he's pushing me to row faster. Problem is, my stomach is smushing up against my thighs and I can't get a good breath. So he pushes me to row to 700 meters, then he'll let me take a break for 100 meters. Then he pushes me to row to 1000. I tell him there's no way I"m going to 2000. He let me slow down again to 1100. Then he agreed after seeing I was really huffing and puffing and pulling for every breath, that I only had to go to 1500 meters but he wanted me to push hard through the last 400 meters. As we got closer he watched the time and was really cheering me on to finish in under 8 minutes. Well, I finished 1500 meters in 7:57. No way was I going to 2000. Just don't have it in me yet. My arms were shaking, I almost couldn't stand up and I almost tripped when I couldn't lift my leg to step over the stupid rower. That machine will be the death of me and, I'm sure my greatest accomplishment once I kick its ***! And I will. It might take me a while, but I will. I don't know anything about rowing, but I know I was giving it my all, especially after having done all the other weight machines. I think 1500 meters in under 8 minutes is a respectable start. And that is the saga of my first personal training session.

WOW, PK, that is very impressive!! I only use 5 lb. weights and my arms get tired. You are going to be a force of nature!
