The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

Word of caution. When we checked in 4 weeks ago, we got a room that was partially refurbed. It had the new bed and dresser and flooring, but it still had the old coffee table and sofa bed. We asked to be moved, which they did immediately. It was room 1131.

Interesting. There's a thread which says the rooms which end in 123 do not have Murphy beds, but obviously that's not what your room was.

We always stay in a 1 br and dont need the extra bed. We would prefer a sofa bed as it is a much better couch. I get why people who need the sleep space prefer the Murphy, so dont get me wrong. We use it as a sofa and would like a more comfy sofa. There is also no end tables so if you are watching something on TV, there is no good place to sit a drink.

Agreed.

My husband and I keep discussing this so thought I'd ask here. We had a Boardwalk view studio recently and there was a 1.5ish inch gap under the entry door. It let in a ton of light and noise from the hall. Is a door gap normal at this resort? We've stayed at Poly, Aulani, and Boulder Ridge and never had this issue before. I ended up putting a couple of towels along the door.

We had a standard view studio last Nov with the same issue. Not sure the actual size but it let in way too must light. Not just along the bottom but the side as well. I shoved towels along with that fabric container they keep the extra pillows in that gap.

Did you report it to maintenance or to DVC?

No I just assumed it was part of the reno. Along with all the other things we were unhappy about (lack of drawers, lack of chairs, etc). We’re back for July 4 weekend this time in a p/g studio so we’ll see how that is. I just assumed it was the new normal.

I would always take a picture and send it to DVC afterwards along with you room number.

I would also call maintenance and show it to the front desk.

Not exactly what you want to be doing on vacation, but I try to look at it as a “owner” and if we all do it then eventually a lot of the things that can be fixed should be over time.

I'm probably wrong, but my first thought was that maybe there was a gap under the room door due to a difference in carpeting since the hallway doors were originally installed. Maybe the carpeting in the hall is thinner than the carpeting was in the past, and maybe there is no carpeting in that part of the room when there was carpeting there in the past?

that makes total sense. I should have commented to the front desk about it, but it seemed on purpose. I just didn't like it.

Bit of a random question but thought here may be good place to ask. I know boardwalk has the bike rentals you can do but do they also let people bring their own bikes to ride there or is that just rental? If can bring personal bike do they include other things likes like razor scooters? My instinct would be no but thought I would ask and get a more accurate answer.

We were in a 1 BR mid may. No gap under the door. Room 5009. BoardWalk View.
Lucky!

The gap was certainly noticeable for us allowing lots of hallway light in.

We were in a standard 1 bedroom #5069 in March/Easter.

We will see what we get in October but I'm sure it will be similar.
