Just wanted share a feel good story about
Disneyland
One of my Year 2 students went to Disneyland with his family during the holidays. He has Autism and has a full time aide in class so his mum (a fellow teacher at the school) was quite concerned with how he'd cope being in a new environment and routine.
So I made two readers, one on each park, about my trip last year to help prepare him with photos of me there to help him establish the link. I also filled his mum in about the GAC and how it could help them as the
travel agent had only told her about fast passes.
I was ecstatic to find out today that it all went perfectly for them

first he found the entire series of Yo Gaba Gaba in the plane before his mum worked out the headphones lol then he slept on the plane! When they arrived in the park he was comfortable and they got the GAC card before the change but I think they'd still have gotten it which they were grateful for considering the heat (he hates being hot) and long lines.
He got excited as soon as he saw Splash Mountain because it was a focus in his book but did not enjoy the drop and refused to go back on! I tried to warn him in the book lol
Then the night they planned to watch the fireworks they were cancelled and he got really upset as it was part of his reader so mum went to city hall to enquire about going in just for the fireworks the next day, explaining the situation. The CM's gave them complimentary passes to use from 4pm the next day. Then the printer stuffed up and because it took so long the CM's gave them vouchers to get two large plush toys from the emporium! True Disney magic at work right there!!!
Best part: his mum saying it truly was the happiest place on earth because it made her forget she has an additional needs child
Had to share because it made me all warm and fuzzy!!!
