The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

We're in for a wild and windy weekend here in NZ, with cyclone Lusi due to hit Auckland during the night.

We've cleared the drains and gutters, pegged down the trampoline, stocked up the pantry, and even been to to DVD store.
The plan now is to spend the rest of the weekend hibernating inside where it's dry and warm.

The problem with weekends without any plans, is that there is too much time to peruse the internet and make holiday bookings I shouldn't.
Hhhmm, I wonder which spa treatments I should book at Aulani...

Did you see the death toll in Vanuatu? That's so sad. I hope you just get some good rain out of it. Stay safe.

I'm baking muffins #justsayin

Chocolate chocolate chip :coffee:

Oh yum. I've got dozens of bananas in the freezer I need to turn into muffins. I'm living in mortal fear of the great banana rip off of post-cyclone Larry where I suddenly had an urge for bananas but refused to pay $16 a kilo :(

There's another acronym like that on here, but I can't remember what it is...

That was crazy back then! We are such big banana eaters in this house  and the prices back then were massive.

I think of PMS when I see PMs :)

:rotfl:

Sorry, I can't multi-quote using the app. But to all those who said to take care, thanks :goodvibes

The wind is whistling away outside, but isn't as bad as they were predicting. I'm guessing it means that it hasn't yet hit full force yet (it's supposed to last over NZ until Sunday night), but hopefully it also means it's weakened considerably now it's hit land.

I really feel for those people in Vanuatu. I think us kiwis are going to be lucky by comparison (touchwood).

Really????? All. of. them. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Love it!

I so wish I could. Every one of them sounds amazing.

I'm not usually a spa person, but I splash out on holidays. I've already told DH that my birthday present this year will be spa treatments at Aulani. He just shrugged a 'whatever'. He's used to me telling him what I'm going to buy myself for my birthday. One day I might stop being such a control freak and let him surprise me. :rolleyes2

Looks like we're all under a bit of nasty weather right now

Stay safe in N.Z!

I think we're probably on the out rim of what you're copping, storming and raining here now!

Perfect night to settle in and solve the worlds problems...

Thanks Becpee.

It hasn't actually been that bad here in the Auckland region. High winds, but the rain has been lighter than expected.

In fact, it's actually been a blessing. Farmers in the area were at near drought conditions, but this weekend's rain has been strong enough to wet the crops without drowning them.

I hope the weather in Melbourne has been okay this weekend. I have family there on their first overseas trip ever, visiting the F1. I have been a bit worried about them as they were really thrown out of their comfort zone preparing for this trip.
They really wanted us to come with them but money and sanity were too much of a concern. Money because of our other trips this year, and sanity because these inlaws drive me insane. I should share some of the things this step-MIL has said and done to me over the years - they're awful.
But in retrospect, I wish I'd tried harder to find the money. I would have enjoyed leaving them at the cars and visiting PIO and other Dis Melbournites (is that a word?).
