The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

 You have tiny feet woman!

Not as many maples here , lots of elms-- meaning lots of neighborhoods with few trees now thanks to Dutch Elm Disease. When sis first moved into her house, 16 yrs ago, the trees formed that beautful arch of leaves and branches over the street.

Not so much now, city came thru and marked the diseased ones to send to the lumber mill. Replanting with spindly young trees in their places.

In the woods around my parents house, "up north", it's mostly birch or poplar.

And a special one just for you Funny G. Oh and thanks for the Parent of the Year Award. :lmao: :thumbsup2

Nice one!

And your welcome.

DIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZY

I was thinking of you the other day dizzy... I read an article that said children are beginning to have kidney stones. Presenting with the symptom of tummy aches/ stomach pain.

Got my interest and thought I would pass that tidbit to you if your dd has problems again. :flower3:

We have maple, alder, some dogwood and a few oak. The only elm, birch or poplar trees around here are ones the people get from nurserys to plant in their yards.

Here's an updated photo of Max & Pepper...and their daily "gift" they leave me on the back porch.:scared1:

Nice to know - I will definitely keep that in mind, and will mention it to her NEXT doctor :sad2:

Speaking of schizophrenic relatives...my step grandmother was defnitely that way, actually she was one of about 20 kids and several of them were diagnosed with it and one even hospitalized.

Anyway, one time my step grandfather decided to go to Finland to visit his relatives. My grandmother refused to get on a plane, so she stayed home. Us kids took turns staying with her. She lived just across the road from us. It snowed one day and we made a snowman, put a hat & scarf on it. In the middle of the night she got up and seen someone outside, so she grabbed the gun, handed me a butcher knife and made me hide under the bed. She opened the bedroom window and blew our poor snowman full of buckshot!:lmao: Thank goodness I'm not a blood relative...but you know what they say 50% genetics/50% environment.:scared1:

Good luck on finding a doc

Darn, I must have big feet then

:rolleyes1

I wsh we had been able to adopt another kitty- keep Poly company when we don't want to play chase the bread tie across the kitchen floor. Or attack people's feet as they walk in apartment at night. Sneaky lil devil.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

yep! I was telling my sis we are gentically flawed.
she replied "don't you mean we are genetically F..d"?

Me: "umm yeah, but I was trying to be polite about it."

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Doesn't work...we have 3 kitties. They still attack us randomly when we least expect it, want to type on the computer keyboard, and demand constant attention. Except instead of one wanting to be petted, at least 2-3 are on your lap trying to outdoor each other for attention.:lmao: Sorta like that misconception we have about having more than 1 child so they can have a playmate! Yeah, right more like a partner in crime or enemies for the first 40 years.:lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ain't that the truth?

Hubby and I had the theory that 2 were enough, otherwise the parents are outnumbered.

:rotfl2:

But Poly is not the cuddley cat I envisioned. We hold her down to "punish" her with our attention.

Poly: merrrrrrrrwwwwwwwww, digging claws into sofa trying to pull her body away.
Us: no, you will stay here and like it! darn you ! pet pet pet scratch ears pet pet

I rearranged the living room furniture today. Need honest opinion. Took the sectional apart, does it look weird...hang on have 4 photos all together. Need good female opinions...not just that of 2 16yo's that tell me it looks wonderful just to shut me up.:lmao:

I liek the way you seperate the living room and dining areas, couch and sofa table.

oh wait, now I see what you did.. I bet that would be a nice corner to curl up and read.. still in the area but not in the midst of TV viewing area.

Oh and by the way I would like to introduce you to my mother. Hyenas meet Lynda, Mom meet the Hyenas! See the shelf sitting above and to the left of the tv? She is in the little gold/mother of pearl jar on the end.:thumbsup2 We keep her on that shelf so she can always see us and be a part of our lives. Which I know might freak some people out, but it's very comforting to me that a part of her is always nearby.

My dad has the big urn and each of us kids got a smaller urn. My brother and SIL sadly are freaked out by her ashes and keep her hidden away in their chip cabinet. Which is ok I guess, mom always loved chips and dip!:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

I like that!
well maybe not the chip cabinet.. but the idea of having your loved one around, present in your day to day life.

Hubby and I have discussed different options for his ashes. The coolest being to turn him into a gem stone-- but that's out of my price range.

I told him he would be lucky if I can find a cardboard box for him. :rotfl2:

You can't tell from the pic's but there is about 5 feet behind the chaise that has a giant trunk, near the front door. It is a quiet little corner. Usually in the winter I put the chaise and the ottoman by the woodstove, makes for cozy winter naps.

Also, between the two pieces of sofa is a big square coffee table that you can't see. Figure I can move the table out to the garage or back porch next month to make room for the Christmas tree. :santa:

Our family room, kitchen, dining and living room are completely open to each other. So it's really hard to find a quiet corner in our house.:lmao: Although I do love the open design, sometimes I wish I had a den or something that was located away. We've talked about adding a 2nd story or converting the garage...but just never seem to get around to it. Guess we have too many other things we want to do besides deal with construction.:confused3
