The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Went to my sister's , skipped the free Chipotle afterall.. we had pizza with my sis instead- YUM!

J stayed home with a friend-- playing games.

N went with his cousin, they went out trick or treating in a friend's neighborhood. He brought us home a nice haul of chocolate ! :thumbsup2

While E and BIL took sister's little guys thru their neighborhood-- not quite as much treats-- but they had to carry the lil guy most of the way. He was so cute! She put him in a fuzzy puppy outfit complete with a hood with ears, extra padding in the rear to make him roly poly and a tail that wiggled as he walked. Darling!

Her middle son was a stormtrooper, he did a good job trick or treating. He asked people "what kind of pets do you have?" and poked his head in looking around for any animals. :rotfl:

I helped sis with the treats, it was a slow trickle. About 20 in total. One mom was obviously exasperated with the whole process. Scurrying to get the youngest to the door - slow walker. While the other 3 raced ahead. One of the boys tried to grab more from the bowl " I don't want this kind, I want that one!" and another said " hey gimme more!"

I tried to tell them they should trade with their buddies. He scowled at me - the little beast! Finally mom arrives at the doorstep and chastised them "You get what you get and say thank you! Now come along!". She looks at me, rolls her eyes and sighs ( one of those mom to mom moments of OMG I want to strangle the lil darlings).
I laugh and tell her to have a good night. :lmao:

I would NOT bring 4 children out on my own - EEK! Four young children- kindergarten/ preschooler age. :scared1:

:goodvibes Hey Pixie! :goodvibes

I had to wash N's shoes- pewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

He managed to step in dog doo in someone's yard, no sidewalks where he was tonight-- that's just nasty! Wouldn't you check your yard if you knew kids would be trailing thru at night.. in the dark ?? Gross!

I'm glad we have gloves, slightly more bareable to do that job. I doused it in cleaner and then used clorox wipes, ran the soles under the tap and then sprayed down the tub.

I am sure the cat is going to have a ball sniffing the shoes for the rest of the night. :rolleyes1
She already jumped on the coffee table to delicately sniff each piece of candy there. :rotfl:

Good Evening Hyenas,

I hope you all had a great time trick-or-treating with your kids. :goodvibes I went to the mall after work to exchange a scarf in the Coach store. I was assisted by the most annoying sales clerk ever! She had a high-pitched shrill voice that could shatter glass. Have you all seen Hannah Montana? Who is that one character (adult female) that talks all nasal and annoying? Picture that voice but much more shrill and loud. I was also the only customer in the store and she still followed me around as if she were glued to me. Her voice also echoed in the store, which was terrible. :scared1: :scared1: I got a phone call while I was there and she continued to ramble to me about something and then I stopped her and said: "Excuse me a moment" and walked towards a far corner of the store to take the call. She had no regard for me being on the phone and just kept interrupting my phone calls with her shrill voice and mentioning handbags and umbrellas, etc. I wanted to scream: "LEAVE ME ALONE DAGNABBIT!!" but I just continued to smile politely. :sad2: :headache:

Left the store as quickly as possible and stopped at the Farmer's Market. I caught the hummus table in time and was able to buy the cucumber dill yogurt I like and some pita bread. :)

I ran a few errands and then went to my bf's work to get a book he had bought me earlier today. It's a cool book on bento boxes and how people make the food look like characters and such. It's really cool. :goodvibes

My parents invited me to dinner at their house. My mom cooked spaghetti so I decided to go. My little sis was out trick-or-treating with friends. I didn't pay attention to any trick-or-treaters but I did see quite a large # of trick-or-treaters this year.

My little sister received compliments on the pumpkin she had carved this afternoon. She found a pattern online and did it herself. I was really surprised but it was actually quite cool. :thumbsup2 She chose the ghost from Super Mario Bros. :rotfl: Here's a pic of it:

SDC10326.jpg

I must had been looking it at an angle because I thought it was a weasel the first time I saw it. I couldn't make out what it was. :rotfl2: My mom said: "Come see the pumpkin your little sister made! She did it all by herself." I stare at it: "What is it?" and my mom says: "I don't know!" and continues to stare at it. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Too funny!

I didn't quite see it right the first time until I read the description, it's a close shot so I couldn't see the whole face.

But hubby could pick out the features and knew what it was-- he has more imagination than I do sometimes.

weird sales lady encounter- she was stalking you !

BERNICE! Props to your DH for getting the pumpkin right :thumbsup2

I know! My bf was on the phone with me and he's like: "OMG! Who is that?? Her voice is so annoying and she's loud as heck!!" :scared1:

:scared: That's terrible! Maybe the home owner wasn't aware there were droppings there? :confused3 Or maybe someone was walking their pet while their kids were trick-or-treating and it maked on their lawn? :scared:

Good morning, hyenas!
Overcast... but not raining! :thumbsup2

Pixster, your sis' pumpkin is cute!

I forgot to tell you guys about our pumpkin carving Thursday night. We had four pumpkins total, two bitty ones and two larger ones. (DH always gets a big one, and this year DS8 wanted a big one, too... must be just like Daddy, don'cha know.)

So  the week before I was trolling the internet looking for pumpkin carving designs, and found a cute foursome of Cinderella, Lucifer (the cat), Gus-Gus and Jaq. Of course, I didn't expect the kids (or DH) to agree to do all the pumpkins as a set, but thought I'd use at least one of the images.

Anyway, so we get ready to carve, and DH immediately tackles DS4's little pumpkin. He wants a "happy face", so DH makes short work of little triangle eyes and a big smile. :goodvibes

Then he's on to DS8's big pumpkin, carving of the top and gutting it. They discuss shapes for eyes and mouth and all that, while I'm still looking for something to punch holes along the edge of the design I've chosen, Lucifer the cat. I wind up using the pointy end of a meat thermometer.

Soon DH is on to his pumpkin, and I'm still punching holes in mine, uff! I finally get around to carving, but it's hard to see the pattern among all the holes so close together!

I got about 3/4 of the way through the carving before realizing I must have cut wrong somewhere, because there was a piece of pumpkin missing where I needed one. :headache:

So my pumpkin was a huge failure, I felt like such a dork. :rotfl:

Trick-or-treating last night was so much fun!

It had rained throughout the day, so I was not really looking forward to the evening, and figured we'd be out for a short time. As it turned out, not only did it stop raining before dark, it was so clear you could see the stars! It was amazingly excellent timing!!!

We usually have kids start coming before it's even dark, but not last night. We were able to eat a quick dinner (well, the kids ate a quick dinner) and get the boys dressed up before the first kid came. :thumbsup2

As usual DH stayed home to pass out candy while I took the boys out. DS8 and a buddy of his had discussed DS joining him and his dad and brother for trick-or-treating, but had not firmed up plans. I told DS that was fine with me, as long as we made sure it was OK with the other child's parent who was going to be responsible for another child. He never did follow up, so insisted that we go to their house first. They live just up the street, so no problem there.

Unfortunately the boy's mom said they'd already left for trick-or-treating, so we had no idea where they were. DS was a tad bummed, but took it in stride. We just kept on walking in a zig-zagging loop around our neighborhood, veering off the main path hitting cul-de-sacs and friends' houses along the way. We bumped into several large groups of kids, obviously neighbors who'd joined up for the evening. Saw lots of the kids' friends, which was fun considering all the costumes. DS8 was chatting with one boy who just stood staring at him. I asked the boy if he knew who was talking to him, and he shook his head nervously. I told DS to take off his mask, and when he did the kid looked relieved. (DS' mask is of a creepy skull-type ghoul, and he didn't realize the kid had no idea who he was.) :lmao:

We bumped into and walked a bit with a neighbor who teaches at the boys' former school/daycare (her boy is on DS8's summerball team), and later with a neighbor firefighter with his two kids.

DS4 freaked out at one friend's house. They have a huge great dane, and when my friend opened the door with the dog at her sid, DS came running back toward me. She told the dog to go to the top of the stairs, and I brought DS back to the door. It was kinda funny, but then throughout the night when a door opened and he made a beeline back to me, I knew they had a dog. :rotfl:

At the last house we visited, they had a dog DS had met before on the street, and the neighbor knew DS was a bit afraid. Their dog is soooo sweet, so she just talked to the boys about the dog, and I held my hand out so he could sniff it. Then the boys did the same, and then both boys actually petted the dogs head! Progress!!! :thumbsup2

Lucky Megan to get a turkish rug ! Depending on the size, you could use it as a wall hanging. Similar to hanging up quilts.
I think it is small... Welcome mat sized or a bit bigger. Im guessing not TO big, because she said she got her self a runner for the hallway, and it cost $2600.:scared1: :scared1:
I'd gladly hold onto those for you... :rolleyes1

Oh, wait... then MY beastly children would destroy them, and I'd have to pay you back... Never mind.

:rotfl2: I KNOW, right?

Trick or treating ROCKED last night! I spent over an hour getting Mikalah all gussied up in her costume. I pinned her hair on so all the curls cascaded over her Jasmine crown.. SO gorgeous! Plus I did her makeup.. she was just gorgeous! Alex needed nothing but a shower. He was a tad on the smelly boy side.

We went to my MIl's house first.. so she could see the kids. The woman is CRAZY. Completely freaking mental. She asked Frelan if he has heard about what is going to happen after the election. APPARENTLY, she has it on good authority that martial law is going to be declared... and we are going to WAR.. With each other. Seriously. She was like.. You better get your guns ready! She went on and on. and told us not to eat any Chinese candy, because we are all going to die. :confused3 She is freaking NUTS. I told Frelan that there is NO way we are leaving our kids with them any more. They need to move to a compound in Montana, for real. Crack pots. :sad2: I dont know how my total NORMAL, WONDERFUL husband is related to these nut cases.

Anyhow. That was the start of our evening. Frelan and I both left shaking out heads. :sad2:

We took the kids over to University Place for trick or treating. You know.. the rich neighborhoods.. Where they give out the full sized candy bars. ;) :lmao: Mikalah was so excited, and ran from house to house.. and WHAT were the people thinking when they let her pick out what she wanted??? This one guy was laughing his butt off as my greedy little baby shoveled 3 huge handfuls of candy into her bag. As my big ole pregnant butt is waddling as fast as I can to grab her and stop her. :lmao: :lmao: He was like.. NO!! Its OKAY!!! And then proceeded to give give her another big handful of candy. :lmao: :lmao:

NO KIDDING.. She ended up with twice as much candy as her brother. :sad2: Alex needs to step up next year. :lmao: We did end up with a few full sized bars though. ;)

All in all... it was a great night!:thumbsup2

Sorry about posting and leaving. One of DD's BFF's moms just stopped by to pick her up.

I took 3 16yo's, a 13yo and 10yo trick or treating. The girls took off...probably up to no good, but gotta let them have a bit of a life I suppose. I wouldn't let them go out driving last night, so they went trick or treating with us and rented scary movies and had a sleepover...so this morning I have four 16yo girls invading my house!

My funny moment...I am taking DS and one of DD's BFF's brothers (13yo) trick or treating. As we are walking down the street a couple of other 13yo's yell at us...HEY SEEVERS (13yo boys' last name)...so he yells at the top of his voice "WHAT'S UP F'ING HAM! All of these people with little kids turn and look at us. I start lecturing him...you WILL not talk like that if you're with me, there are little kids all around, etc...He's looking at me like I'm nuts and I say I don't think you're mom is going to be very happy when I tell her you are yelling obscenities like that.

He starts laughing and looks at me...UH, sorry Mrs. I, but that's my friend from school and his last name is Effingham.:lmao: Do I feel stupid or what?!:rotfl2:

And my other stupid moment...we go up to this house and they have awesome carved pumpkins. I tell the guy at the door, WOW! those are awesome pumpkins, I love them! Did you carve them?

Why yes, he says. I had a lot of fun making them. So I'm looking at each one and there is one with a man's face on it. I look at the pumpkin, look at the man, look at the pumpkin...yep, no mistaking it, he carved his own face on a pumpkin. So I say, is this pumpkin you? He laughs and says no, but doesn't tell me who it is. So I say...well it really looks like you a lot. He is laughing hysterically now, but still doesn't offer up a name of who it is. Finally I say, well who is it then if it's not you?

OBAMA!:rotfl2:

Which of course doesn't at all resemble the 20 something white guy I am looking at.:lmao:
