The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

And my other stupid moment...we go up to this house and they have awesome carved pumpkins. I tell the guy at the door, WOW! those are awesome pumpkins, I love them! Did you carve them?

Why yes, he says. I had a lot of fun making them. So I'm looking at each one and there is one with a man's face on it. I look at the pumpkin, look at the man, look at the pumpkin...yep, no mistaking it, he carved his own face on a pumpkin. So I say, is this pumpkin you? He laughs and says no, but doesn't tell me who it is. So I say...well it really looks like you a lot. He is laughing hysterically now, but still doesn't offer up a name of who it is. Finally I say, well who is it then if it's not you?

OBAMA!:rotfl2:

Which of course doesn't at all resemble the 20 something white guy I am looking at.:lmao:
:lmao:

Which begs to ask...2 weeks after Halloween will the old moldy Obama pumpkin look like McCain?:lmao: Wow, wish I would have thought of that last night.:thumbsup2

Ohhh...Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad are on the Reelz channel right now. We have the VCR, but I haven't seen i in years, a a matter of fact I can't even remember what it's about. Can you believe that movie was made in 1949. I'm amazed at how good some of those old Disney movies are...in my opinion the old ones are much more detailed and better made than the new ones.

The girls are in my bedroom watching scary movies....so I haven't even gotten dressed or brushed my teeth yet today. Oh well...it's a good stay at home and do nothing sort of day.

I was very proud of my parenting skills last night. DD & her friends wanted to go "hang out" last night. I just didn't feel comfortable with them driving around with DD's whopping 6 months driving experience on Halloween night. Esp. since little kids are running everywhere and there were lots of parties since it was on a Friday night. NOPE, trusted my common sense...but let me tell you not giving in to 4 16yo girls that were begging to borrow the car was a bit difficult. But I stood my ground and didn't give in.

That's because they are!

Hand painted animation is a thing of the past for the most part. The older films were done that way, painstaking detail with very taleneted artists. Today, they ship them overseas where someone making a few dollars an hour does some quick brushes of color and plops it down to grab the next.

The reason why Stitch is breathtaking beautiful animation? It has rare hand painted bakgrounds.

Some of the anime coming out of Japan is absolutely gorgeous! All hand painted, hand drawn.

I like computer animation, but I htik it has been done so much now that it has lost it's spark . That wow factor is down to a fizzle.

That must be why I like the older Disney movies so much...not that I don't like or appreciate the new ones, but there is just something magical and innocent about the older ones. No politically correct messages, no themes, just good old fashioned story telling.:thumbsup2

Finally got dressed this afternoon, put on a tank top and lounge pants. And that's as dressed as I plan on getting today. Rearranged the furniture in the living room and now I'm working on the dining room. Its a sort of rainy, windy, lots of leaves falling sort of day.

DS is over at his cousin's house...mud sliding!:scared1: Everytime it rains they find a new hill to slide down. They put old clothes on and spend the day sliding downhil in the mud...gotta be a boy thing.:lmao:

We have a new member of the family. My brother got a goat. So figure I will mosey on over this evening and meet him.:thumbsup2

Trick or treating ROCKED last night!

We went to my MIL's house first.. so she could see the kids. The woman is CRAZY. Completely freaking mental.

We took the kids over to University Place for trick or treating. You know.. the rich neighborhoods.. Where they give out the full sized candy bars.

awesome! Your kidlets are at that perfect Trick or Treating age, everything is so magical at night. :cutie:

Holy cow batman.. your MIL is a tad schizophrenic right?

That's the kind of things my grandma would say, she was paranoid schizophrenic and refused meds.

She would call us in middle of night and tell us the neighbors had my brother locked in their house..
and she was convinced that she was helping the govt by checking on the "foreigners", writing in notebooks about the comings and goings of everyone.
We would shake out heads, reassure her that it was all okay.. and then try to convince her to take her medications.

I just found out my aunt is exhibiting signs of mental illness now, diagnosed as bipolar.. but won't take meds, it's very sad .

N went with his cousin to a different neighborhood.. several full sized bars and tons of chocolate. I'm enjoying his labor. ;)

:rotfl:

Remember those beautiful leaves on the tree last week? Well here they are!:lmao:

awww, we are getting past peak here too.

We had a few days of almost snow, must find my winter coat cold.. now we are back to the 60's again.
Yep it's typical MN weather.

Being on third floor, we don't need our heat on.. we are steamy hot. Popping open the windows and battling with asian beetles (fake ladybugs) climbing inside. UGH!

Shorts and T shirt day :goodvibes

:lmao:

Goats are good for keeping the lawn nicely trimmed. :thumbsup2

Think he might need a few more his yard is about 6 acres.:lmao: Actually he has a John Deer tractor for mowing. We borrow it every once in a while, takes about 2 minutes to mow 1 acre.:thumbsup2

Some years we don't have pretty leaves and some years we do. Just all depends on the weather. If it's a rainy fall the leaves are an ugly yellowish brown. But if we have a dry fall then they get the pretty orange/red colors.

I love taking pictures of things that don't go together.

wow! That's a big leaf!

Or a rather small foot?

:confused3

:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Size 7 foot, size 12 leaf! The maple leaves are usually huge. But that's ok, makes them easy to blow. Now don't get me started on those pesky oak leaves. They are the very last ones to fall, so it's always really wet and rainy and they stick in the grass. I swear they have some sort of Crazy Oak Glue on them!:lmao:

And a special one just for you Funny G. Oh and thanks for the Parent of the Year Award. :lmao: :thumbsup2
