The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Hats? I don't do hats. :snooty: :sad2:

Seriously, coats? I wore shorts & t-shirt during the day, and a sweatshirt in the evenings in February, I just assumed it would be similar. :(

We were in pretty bundled up. I didnt have a hat on, but the kids and my bald BIL did. We would have FROZEN with shorts. I think we might have taken off the jackets for a bit in the afternoons.. but it wasnt long.

well guys, I am going to hit the pillow....good night...
Night!
Mmmm, no can do. We're already booked and mostly paid for the rooms (due to a slight error on my part)... :rolleyes1

No matter. As long as it's sunny! Please tell me I will see the sun in December! PLEASE!!!
There was sun.... it just didnt last for long.

Ooooo, I was so there until the saggy photo. :lmao:

Thanks, G! :cutie:

b...are you making fun of my cheeseballs...

what? me never.. I like balls, of the cheesey variety. :rolleyes1

Gina, I bet you have very nice looking cheeseballs. I myself come from a long line of sturdy, hardworking cheeseballs. Why I can even remember my first cheeseball just like it was yesterday. Of course who ever forgets their first cheeseball?;) Just remember to serve the proper wine with your cheeseballs and everything else will be ok.:thumbsup2

But of course! Wine paring with our snack foods is vitally important.:snooty:

Does anybody in this state own a hat? I know that I do have some, but I never wear them. I'm sure they are stuck at the back of the closet with all of the unused umbrellas and raincoats.:rotfl2:

I'm sure shorts will be fine Alex. What Bernice doesn't realize is that we wear shorts here year round. Just throw on a flannel shirt, pair of wool socks and shorts and you're good to go.:thumbsup2 If it was below about 45 then I probably wouldn't wear shorts, but anything above and I'm good to go.:thumbsup2

Goodnight Gina! Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.:cloud9:

What kinda coats are we talking? Raincoat, or the warmer winter coat? I wear a raincoat until it gets like in the low 40s, then break out the warm coat. I'm guessing you're talking the heavier coat, but I just can't wrap my brain around that in California, I guess. Dang. That's gonna change the luggage situation then. Heavier, full-coverage clothing = heavier, fuller (possibly more) bags. Pooh.

The thing about southern California weather-- you just never know!
It could rain or be cold or it could be 80 degrees.

Add about 5 degrees to a weather.com forecast, bring both shorts and pants. Makes for a fun time packing

It will be sunny and green. :goodvibes

Just think, right now in inland areas it's brown- dead grass- dusty. UGH!
Winter was nice, everything was green plus we could see snow on the mountians.. the snow the boys whined that thye missed so much-- we shall see what happens in December thru April this year :lmao:

Awww, come on. We wear raincoats... But as a true Northwest girl, I hate carrying a wet umbrella, and I can't stand hats. A hood is as close as I get to head covering. I hate having something on my head, even disliked headbands as a kid. :rotfl:

Time for me to scuttle off to bed also. I guess I'm getting awakened at 5am to assist DD with her hair. Now is really my chance at revenge isn't it?? Goodnight ladies!

My little ones were in their winter coats at night.. During the day I had them layered with a tee shirt, a fleece, and a light jacket. They both had hats and gloves for early mornings, and evenings. I dont wear raincoats, or heavy coats... unless it is REALLY cold. I have a sweatshirt style jacket that I wear. I had that, and Im sure I was wearing a tee shirt under it.. with gloves.

Sam, she knows that she can comb her hair with one hand, right? Just checkin'... Maybe she wanted a French bun or something... :rolleyes1

Good luck tomorrow, Sam, I'll be thinking of you! :cloud9:

I have never even owned a raincoat.:lmao: I mostly have hoodies, sweat shirts or flannel shirts. I do have a heavier Winnie the Pooh jacket for when it gets below freezing. But I very rarely wear jackets.

When we go to Florida I always buy some of those disposable rain ponchos though.:lmao:

Well it is her right hand that is messed up, but luckily she is left handed. Who knows, I think she just wanted to blame it all on me.:rotfl:

NO kidding!!! We got off the plane when we were going to my sisters house... and YUCK. We were instantly depressed. Everything was brown and dead. Even their mountains are different. I am not used to looking through a bunch of trees and being able to see the ground.. Where is all the underbrush?? I dont under stand???? The trees??? They just grow out of the dirt??? I honestly had no idea that it could be like that. :lmao:

I dont wear a rain coat. I dont think I ever have.. neither have my kids. I mean.. I dont let then drown outside...:lmao: They have water proof coats.. But rain coats?? Heck no! I dont even put my hood up in the rain. :lmao:

I dnt know anyone who has an umbrella. Isnt that funny?

Do you know you lose 75 % of your body heat thru your head?

Hats are a necessity here.

oh and we wear shorts when it's sunny mid winter. Just as the weather "thinks" about spring, the sun will shine very bright and warm but the snow will still be lingering-- and it may just storm the very next day -- just for kicks.

Shorts, boots, mittens, hat and sweatshirt... shoveling the heavy wet melting snow off your roof. :thumbsup2

Do all your Walmarts carry the trademark quilted plaid flannel shirts?
It's a must have "Up North" clothing item... I am a city gal.. thus immune from the dreaded quilted flannel shirt-- thank goodness!
My mom buys them for the boys and hubby, we smile and say thanks-- and then it will sit in the closet gathering cat hair.. until we make a winter /spring visit to my mom's house. :lmao:

I wear a raincoat most of the year. It looks more outdoorsy than nice, I guess. And it has a hood that I think rolls up into the neckline, and those webbed elasticized straps at the hood and waist. If it's not raining I wear a fleece jacket, and when it's colder it's usually dry so I wear a warm wool pea coat. :)

Mikalah cracks me up. She cant sleep with her hair down... the curls bounce into her eyes when she rolls over. :lmao: :lmao: She is getting ready for bed, and had me pull her hair back so it doesnt keep her up all night.

omg... you guys should see what I did to Alex's hair, :sad2: I used to cut their hair all the time. I was the only one who ever did it, and i got to be really good! Well... it has been a long time since I have cut their hair, and my fellas were looking a little shaggy... so I busted out the clippers. OMG.. If my 6yo is sitting there saying his hair looks bad, you KNOW it looks bad. It is SO BAD. He wont ever let me do it again. We have picture day on Monday!!! I promised I would take him to get it fixed this weekend. :lmao: I am just lucky he is only in the first grade!! Any older and he probably would have smothered me in my sleep! :rotfl2:

Thankfully... I got my groove back before I did Frelan. His came out half way decent. Not that he cares... He wears a hat everyday, so you cant see it. Good thing too.. I noticed his bald spot is getting BIGGER. :lmao: :lmao: Alex looked at him after the hair cut, and said, Daddy!!! You look just like Grandpa did! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: My dad was BALD!!! He totally does look like my dad used to!:lmao: :lmao:

umm what's a raincoat?

If it's raining , then it's cold too!

Rain in California was odd, non stop pelting down. No thunder, no lightning. It was either full on rain, or none.

Mn has drizzle, splattery rain, stops, brightens, rains some more.. thunder storms on summer nights. And if it is not quite cold enough to snow, we have freezing rain. Black ice, heavily weighted power lines that snap under the weight.

I don't like that kind of rain
