The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Hello... {imagine that coming in the deepest voice you've ever heard...} :scared:

I've been in bed a large portion of the day, not necessarily sleeping but at least wishing I were. I took the kids to school, then crawled back into bed. There's a lot of construction going on around here (add-on to a house nearby, and of course all the heavy trucks for the school rebuild), so sleep wasn't really an option. Though I somehow managed to fall asleep for about half an hour, and missed the pick-up time for DS4 :scared1:

I called the school and told them I was on my way, then zoomed over there. They were totally fine about it (I was about 10 minutes late), and when DS and I got home, we crawled into bed together. Fortunately he snuggled up on Daddy's side of the bed (he was plastered to me all night last night), but really didn't want to sleep. I nagged him to settle down until pretty much 3:00, then turned around to tell him we may as well get up... only he was asleep. :headache:

So I let him sleep for 15 minutes, then woke him and we walked to the school to pick up his brother. The boys have been soooo good this afternoon; no fighting, DS8 actually helped his brother when he got stuck playing Freddie Fish (a preschool computer game), and I am so grateful. I'm just sucking down cups of tea and trying to stay awake. :surfweb:

 Awww Alex, so sorry you're not feeling well. Glad to hear that the boys are being good so you can get a little rest.:thumbsup2

Let's see...let me throw out a little BROWN stuff for Alex and maybe a pair of :3dglasses for Megan, a pumpkin pie for Bernice, a new purse for Pix. That oughta bring someone out tonight!:lmao:

Fine! I'll go take a bubbly bath and check back in a bit. There HAD better be someone here by then.

Hi, Sam!

Sorry, I was trolling the CB and checking out the news on CNN. :)

What's gnu?

ARGGGHHHH!!! You show up 3 minutes after I leave.:lmao:

scrolling thru to find our thread// scroll scroll scroll.. ohhh there it is!

I see now who keeps the thread alive-- usually Alex (sickly now) and Staley (too tired now).. with a bit of Gina (not around) for good measure.

meanwhile Alison, Sarah, Pixie and I pop in to see the action.. and .......

NOTHING

hmm, I wonder if anyone has checked Megan's thryoid lately? It was a thought that popped in my head today. Low thryoid will make you sleepy/lethargic.

hey guys,

i just got done with one of the MHT event. Man, its insane. :\

put it this way. I candy stocked 2 carts today...

7:30PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 14
7:45PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 28
8:00PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 42
8:15PM - 2 carts, delivery, 16 boxes of candy. Total out: 58
8:30PM - 2 carts, delivery, 16 boxes of candy. Total out: 74
8:45PM - 2 carts, delivery, 16 boxes of candy. Total out: 90
9:30PM - 2 carts, delivery, 18 boxes of candy. Total out: 108
9:45PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 122
10:00PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 136
10:15PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 150
10:30PM - 2 carts, delivery, 14 boxes of candy. Total out: 164
10:45PM - 2 carts, delivery, 12 boxes of candy. Total out: 176
11:00PM - 2 carts, delivery, 10 boxes of candy. Total out: 186
11:15PM - 1 cart, delivery, 5 boxes of candy. Total out: 191

So ive taken out around 191 boxes of candy.
So lets do some math.

lets say 191 boxes of candy for 2 carts. We have around 40 carts. therefore, if we times that up, we get around 3,820 boxes out.

So lets see, 3,820 boxes, each boxes weigh around 30lbs. Soooo, 114,600 lbs of candy are distributed at MHT. we estimated that around 10,000 people are in the park, soooo, each person is pretty much taking home 11 lbs of candy. :)

So ending statistics.
My carts, 191 boxes total went out and gone
Total boxes went out for the entire night is 3,820 boxes.
the total lbs of candy that went out today is 114,600lbs.
We estimated that 10,000 people are in the park, which gives each person 11lbs of candy.

So Albort have you considered changing your major to Dentistry?:lmao:

Good Morning Hyenas! Yesterday I was so tired and didn't want to get out of bed. This morning when I can sleep in, I'm wide awake at 4:15. Go Figure!!:confused3

DH and the kidlets are off to the season opener at the local mx winter track. It's only about 5 miles from our house, so nice and close. The last couple of years DS has raced in the morning and DD in the afternoon. So it was an all day thing. This year they bumped womein into the morning session. So now it's only a half day thing.

Anyway, it's a raincky (rainy, icky) day out so I'm not going today. They will also race tomorrow, so I will go then. The forecast for tomorrow is much better.:thumbsup2

I have lots of little projects to work on today around the house. I bought some pie irons to use at the mx races. They are cast iron pan things on a long stick that you can hold over the campfire and make sandwiches and other yummy things. I go them this summer and since we didn't go camping, never got a chance to use them. They are supposed to be very good for making grilled cheese. But you can also use biscuits, tortillas, etc. and make good bfast sandwiches. So I'm off to find some recipes!:thumbsup2

Alex,

I tried some of the other new Italian Coffeemate creamers that we were talking about and wanted to give you my review:

Italian Sweet Cream - my favorite of the 3. Actually I have a feeling this will now be my new favorite. Tastes like the Sweet Cream ice cream at Coldstone. Nice creamy flavor, but not overly sweet.:thumbsup2

Tiramisu - good, but wasn't my favorite. Interesting, and I'm sure I will buy it again.

Creme Brulee - was also good, but I felt it left a bit of an aftertaste in my mouth when compared to the Sweet Cream and Tiramisu. But once again I bet I will buy it again.

I haven't tried the Hazelnut Biscotti yet, maybe next time. I've tried regular Hazelnut creamers and haven't been real crazy about them. But maybe this flavor will be milder.

Anyway they are all 3 very good creamers, so I would recommend all 3 of them. But obviously you can tell which one was my favorite. I love the flavored creamers, but one of my big complaints has been that they are too sweet. I think the Italian Sweet Cream is the perfect solution. Just a tinge of sweetness, but not overpowering.:thumbsup2

So, can you tell I'm from the Pacific NW? I spend 5 minutes describing coffee creamers in detail like they are fine wines.:rotfl2:

Good morning, hyenas!
It's raining... tell me you're not surprised. ;)

I am feeling a bit better today; I just stood in a hot shower for about 20 minutes, and it felt sooooo good on my face. For the last two days the entire right half of my face has ached horribly (sinus pressure, I'm sure), and it still hurt this morning but not nearly as bad. Today I feel (and sound) like I have just a bad cold. Yay for me! :rotfl:

Sam, did you see that Safeway has the creamers on sale this week? I struggled between two flavors/brands; one set was 2/$4 (I think chocolate caramel was the flavor I wanted to try), the other were large containers and 2/$6 (creme brulee was one of these.) I finally settled on the creme brulee, and I like it a lot. I did consider the sweet cream, but never having had that, I wasn't too sure what it would taste like. (I'm like you, I don't like things that are too sweet.) So that will be the next one I try. I've also tried hazelnut flavored things; sometimes I like 'em, sometimes I don't, so I passed.

DH just ran out to Starbucks, so now I'm sucking down a luscious, throat-soothing, chocolatey bit o' heaven.

We need to get the boys off to swim class shortly, so I should go eat something and make sure they're ready to go. I hope you all have a great day! :flower3:

Morning!

Alex, Sorry it took so long to get back to you on your question.

I suggested luxurious towels, because someone like my Mom would not buy herself anything like that. So maybe something like that, that your Aunt would not usually spend on herself? A nice down blanket? A nice throw blanket for the couch to match? Are they into their yard? How about a birdbath or some kind of garden decor? Good luck.

Guess what? It is raining here!!! Go figure? This is unusual for here this time of year.

I'm glad.................. we need it!! :yay:

Well today I clean, and sew a costume.

Have a good day!:flower3:

So glad you're feeling better Alex. So are you ready to get that NeilMed sinus rinse yet? Freddy's had creamers on sale this week also. But I think Safeway was cheaper. I need to go down there later on today so I'll check it out.

Hi Melody! Can I take you shopping with me the next time I need to buy a gift? Some great ideas there.:thumbsup2

I'm cleaning today and doing laundry also. I have some leftover chicken & steak in the fridge, so I'm going to throw together some soups and then maybe bake some oatmeal cookies. What is it about the rainy weather that makes me want to become a domesticated nester?:lmao:

I picked up my Coffee Mate fat free creamer in Cinnamon Vanilla Creme -- mmm yummy, it was on sale at Target too.

Then I had to scrounge for some coffee that didn't cost more than my left butt check- I like buying the high end in a low cost way ;)
Target had a sale on 8 o'clock coffee beans.. oh fine I will try those since the rest were easily twice the cost, or cheapo already ground -- ugh. I think it's cheaper to buy them at my local grocery store.

Tip:
I've used the International Delight brand liquid creamers (big blue containers, usually on sale with lower price point than the small sized coffee mate) -- does NOT compare to coffee mate in taste.. unless you only get plain creamer. The Dulce de Leche was okay.. but the French Vanilla was VERY sweet, leaving a weird aftertaste coating my mouth.. ewwww.

Other ideas:
Buy the Torani or Da Vinci syrups-- they come in sugar free versions, this is the same stuff they add to flavor lattes at Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.
You can use it to flavor up other drinks, cocktails, whipped cream, frosting, cream cheese, etc.

http://www.torani.com/
http://www.davincigourmet.com/

Occasionally grocery store will have it, dusty- top shelf. Target has a knock off version in their Archer Farms brand (coffee aisle), small bottles and higher cost.
LOTS of flavors at Cost Plus World Market

PIX!!! How are you? How was the party???

Please tell all!!

Was the ToT decorated like last year? Some have said it wasn't. Maybe it is done by now?

How were the crowds?

OK......next question. Do you have the Premium Pass to DL or just the Deluxe? I'm asking cuz I might upgrade to one. This is because I will be going to DL on quite a few times on blocked out days. So I'm trying to do the math, and see how worth it, it is. Right now, it will still cost me more for the Premium, but wondering how much I will save on food, and souvies.

Here are my questions.

With a premium:

Do you get better discounts on room rates?

Any extra things not advertised? Special privileges?

How many places give you the souvie discount? Is it just the World of Disney?

Do you know if Napa Rose gives discounts? My pass doesn't.:sad2:

Do most counter services give the 15% discount?

Anything else you might think of.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Did you notice the blanket ideas? It was cold this morning, so that stuck in my head.:rotfl:

Oatmeal cookies sound soooooooooo good right now. Yum yum!!! Will make the house smell good too!

I was on the DL board, and Lynn posted the recipe for DL's Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Filling. I printed it out, and think I will try some of those next weekend. I need bring something to a gathering, and that might be a hit. Also my Pumpking cream cheese Dip. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!! I better bring something chocolate too! :rotfl: How about something that has a coffe flavor with chocolate chips? Better get out the recipe books.

Have a good day! :flower3:

I must confess.. I have an addiction to reality/competition shows on Bravo.

watching Tabatha's Salon Takeover-- she can be a mean B :scared:
If I was a salon owner/hairdresser I would be freaked if she walked in to take over and "fix" the problems.

Scary lady! But very smart and excellent business sense.

My other faves..
Top Chef :yay: :yay: next season starts soon! Hubby and I make a date to watch it each week, predicting who will be the winners.

Rachle Zoe Project .. hubby hates it, but I like to see the assistant Brad squirm when he screws up.

Real Housewives of Atlanta.. holy cow! Hubby and I are just sick to see so much wealth wasted on some of those brainless spoiled women.
"My life is so hard.. I have to hire 7 people today....
Executive assistant, housekeeper, gardener, driver, personal chef, nanny, and governess."

 :faint:

What is the difference between a Nanny and a Governess?:confused3
