The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

gee Ali, what kind of doctors are these people..do you float down a swamp to see them....umm, you should have been upset over the cancer..its gone now so what do they want you to do ? go crazy and then they get to put down that you need help for that...

Honestly, I don't think most doctors know what to do with cancer survivors. If you think about it most people that have cancer die from it. It's really only been the last 5-10 years that large numbers of people have started surving cancer. I think as they get more and better treatments and survival rates keep going up, they will get used to dealing with survivors.

Oncologists obviously know how to deal with cancer survivors. But other regular doctors don't. My family doctor kept saying...you should talk to your oncologist about these problems. But my oncologist is a specialist that deals with cancer and blood diseases, not hemmoroids! That makes about as much sense as going to your dentist for a bunion problem!

I have noticed that most dentists & doctors treat me like I have the plague now. Luckily my new doctor has been my bosses's family's doctor for years. I know him very well but never used him because he wasn't in my HMO thru hubby's insurance. Anyway, my new doctor is an Internal Medicine doctor and has had more experience dealing with cancer since he deals with a lot of older people. He also gave me a referral to a good oncologist. I asked him why he picked that particular oncologist and he said "Cuz if I had cancer that's who I would go to". Good enuf for me!:thumbsup2

I would discuss this with the new doctor...and tell him that the opinions are not true...

Hmmmm.. I swear I had a funny story for you guys.. But I have forgotten. Go figure.

Gah... I have been really sore the past couple of days. and TIRED. HOLY MOLY. I slept ALL DAY yesterday. Today too. I dont get it, I just cant stay awake!

 I wish there was something I could do. If you want me to take a nap for you on Saturday or Sunday just let me know.;)

ok, I am almost done...that's what I get for sitting around all evening...

I've always wanted to just hop on an airplane, no luggage whatsoever. Just buy whatever I need when I get there.

well, I am going to get off here and finish up...I will talk to you guys later

It's kind of weird, I've never been to this doctor, but I know him very well. He was social friends with my bosses. I used to make him and his wife reservations at our hotel in Jackson Hole all the time and arrange for them to use our corporate jet to fly there. I even have his home phone number and cell phone number. He spoke at my bosses mother's funeral. So he already knows what a fruit cake I am! :rotfl2:

I'm actually not worried about what he will think. It was just kind of funny reading the notes that the doctors put in your medical records. Now I know why my HMO wanted to send them directly to the new doctors. But I told them that I was going to need several new doctors and it would be easier to just send me a copy, then I could make copies as needed.

The sun is shining, no hyenas to come out and play??

Page 3, I had to scrounge to find it.. it was at the bottom.

I had a family doc for the boys, asked for a copy of the file to cart over when he switched clinics.
It's always an enlightening experience to see what docs REALLY think about you as a mom :lmao:

It wasn't bad, it just made me look like an idiot... or rather a brand new very young mom.

I wonder what evil things have been documented in hubby's files?

I know the clinic he is at now has marked his file with being "objectionable" because he refused the Hep B vaccine-- but he has a good reason.

He's had the freaking series three times and yet the immuno test comes back that he does not have the antibodies. His thought.. why bother when it's not going to work.

(Mnay people with renal disease are not able to develop Hep B antibodies from the vaccine. Dialysis clinic insist on the vaccine to protect their workers from exposure to Hep B. )

He signs the form as refusing -- someone could look at the file and assume that he is a "difficult" patient.

No, he just knows his butt from his head.

Unlike some nurses and doctors who have their heads in their own behinds.

wahhhhhhhhhhhhh I need to be entertained for the next two hours-- help!

I'm here to enertain you G. But now you're gone.:sad2:

Great Bernice, give me something new to worry about. I haven't received the kids medical records yet. I can just imagine what I said when DD was an infant...neurotic mom drags child to doctor every 2 weeks!:lmao: DD has ear infections about once a month and would scream when we got to the doctor's office. We had to use a papoose board and straight jacket on her every time just so the doctor could look in her ears. :lmao:

What I found interesting about my medical records was the fact that some rather unimportant stuff was included and some rather important stuff was not included.

For instance there is no copy of my pathology report from my cancer. Luckily I have a copy, but that is one of the most important things you can have. It tells what type of cancer, what nodes were affected, hormonal status of tumor, etc...

Yet they felt a need to include 20 years worth of prescription history? Yeah, that'll be real important that the new doctor know I took an antibiotic 15 years ago.

I spent yesterday afternoon and will spend several hours today working on a project. My boss is building a house and the contractor's daughter is the "bookkeeper". I'm using the word bookkeeper loosely here, because although she is a very nice person. She has not a clue about accounting.

Part of the time she pays invoice, part of the time statements, she intermingles the two of them and has no idea what she has really paid. They give us a bill every month, but none of her backup invoices are in the same order as the bill. I swear she just makes a copy of any old paper in the file with that vendor or subcontractor's name and puts it in the stack.

Sorry, rant here! LADY, if you are going to charge us $3,648.45 then I need an invoice that matches that amount! Not copies of invoices from last month that total $21,945.23!

This lady is really clueless. I know that her father is trying to keep his family employed. She has a new baby that is about 6 months old that she keeps in the construction job shack with her all day. I've been in that job shack, it looks like a tornado swept thru there! She really needs to hire a babysitter to watch her baby and do her work. I went down there one time to discuss getting copies of lien releases from our subs and she told me she was talking the baby for a walk and would get back to me later! I politely suggested that I understood she wanted to keep the baby with her as much as possible, but maybe she could hire a sitter to accompany her to work for a few hours each day so she could get her work done.

My boss and I have found several errors on their billings. So I am creating a spreadsheet listing the date, vendor name, bill number of every single invoice. We can then sort them to see how many we have double paid. Not a real fun job, but we've already discovered one invoice for over $20,000 that was charged to us twice. So obviously it is worth my time to spend a couple of days creating this spreadsheet.

OK, I'm done ranting now!
