The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

No kidding! Put it on the top shelf of the cabinet! If it's on the counter, even shoved way in the back, that little runt is somehow able to get his mitts on it. :sad2:

Hubby and I make a point of buying treats that we know the boys don't like.. it's the only way we can actually have them before they are gone!

Except now that J is older.. not much is in the "icky" zone. :scared1:

Drat! Now we resort to hiding things in the far far corners of the cabinets-- you know, the cabinet that has canned vegetables. ;)

:lmao: I dread Mikalah being tall enough to get into the cabinets. She already tries to make her own lunch. Frelan and I were talking about something.. and she kept saying that she wanted a hot dog. over and over again. OKAY!! One second. Yeah. she is 3. She wanted it THEN. We werent paying attention, and I here a shuffling from the kitchen. She had gone in the fridge, gotten the hot dogs.. and the mustard out.. and pushed her stool up the counter and was in the process of making her lunch. Plate.. bun.. dog.. mustard.   OMG. Thank goodness she cant reach the junk food yet. :lmao: :lmao:

well, my "little runt" is taller than me.

Now how do I hide the goods?

:rotfl:

I usually ask him to get things down for me from the top cabinets. he takes as an opportunity to tease the short mom. :headache:

:rolleyes1 Obviously the "tall genes" in hte family skipped mine and hubby's generation.

Dang it!

I guess two nights of short sleep is catching up with me. I'd better get to bed. :sad2: :cloud9:

It's interesting to meet docs outside of the office, one of the nephrologists on the team has a daughter that goes to the same school as J.

Hubby noticed the doc on an open house night at school. She's normally very professional and greets patients on rounds, chats with nurses etc..

At the open house she kinda froze for a minute and stared at hubby .. quickly waved and ran off to another class.

You do know that generally people that work at doctor's offices are not allowed to "recognize" you first. If you acknowledge them first, then they will acknowledge you. The reason for this is because of confidentiality reasons. If you say hello first, then you obviously have to explain to other's how you know this person. Otherwise they will walk right past you and not say a word.

My sister used to work at a psychiatric office, even though she did the billing and reception work, she was not allowed to acknowledge patient's in public, unless they acknowledged her first. I'm guessing the new HIPPA laws now make it even more difficult to acknowledge patients outside of the clinic setting.

NORMALLY.. I wouldnt mention this where Alison might run across it...:rolleyes1 But when we went grocery shopping last weekend, we bought a ton of crap. Sweets, chips, ice cream.. all KINDS of stuff. YUM. :lmao: Most of it is gone now.. Thanks to my husband who SWEARS he doesnt have a sweet tooth. :sad2: Seriously.. 3 packages of Little Debbie snacks gone in like 2 days. I didnt eat any of it.

:lmao: I know, right! That was my one thing going into parenthood. My parents ALWAYS made me drink milk. FORCED me. I SWORE I would never force my kids t drink it. They both love the stuff!:lmao: :lmao:

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I'm so sorry Megan that your DH is having an affair with Little Debbie. Sadly that hussy seems to make her way into many homes. Just try not to make it a threesome. Now is the time to kick her out before she takes over your entire family.:rotfl2:

I think today will be a Domestic Diva day. I'm going to spend the day doing how's work, Dising, and maybe get a few things done outside (ie. blowing the fir needles down the driveway), put the bbq away, put pool supplies away.

DD spent the night with her bff, DS is still sleeping (and btw he is now completely caught up with his school work, so restrictions are off). I'm so glad, because I know I have to be a parent and make them do the right thing, but dang it's such a drag to have to be the adult! DH went hunting with a friend.

Tomorrow DH is taking DS racing. DD will be bummed because she can't race. I on the other hand think I'm going to get up early and go fly fishing.

As you know one of my guilty pleasures is watching The Girls Next Door. Well I know something about Holly that is a secret. She has had a tummy tuck! How do I know you ask?

Recently they had an episode of them at Madame Chocolat and they made chocolate molds out of various body parts. Well Holly made one of her VaJayJay and they were showing it being made. As they were putting the algaform on, they showed the top part of her private area. It has two small reddish spots that I know are from surgical drains. So it means she has either had a tummy tuck or she has had a tram flap because she had breast cancer. The only way a person would recognize those are if they had the surgery, were a plastic surgeon or were around someone that had that surgery and showed them the drain scars. I Googled it and I must be the only one that noticed it because it doesn't seem to be out on the internet. Well, that is until now!

Hello Hyenas,

I called my doctor's office this morning. I spent the entire night coughing like crazy and throughout the morning. My cough syrup is not working. They said the on-call doctor could only give prescrips for heart meds or something life-threattening.

The person I spoke with suggested that I go to an urgent care. I'm now at an urgent care but there are lots of people waiting.

I feel so much better getting that out. It's like I'm one of the few people in the world that knows her secret. Weird! She has admitted to other surgery, nose and chesticle job. But this is obviously her secret. Well not anymore! You make chocolate body parts on tv and someone will figure it out.

 So sorry that you're feeling cruddy Pix. I know you didn't want to use the inhaler, but it might help. I have according to my docs "a touch of asthma", but it really doesn't present a problem unless I run really hard, have a cold or other illness or I'm around smoke (ie campfires, etc.) a lot. I do have an inhaler, but I only use it about once a year or so. Do you think that the fires and smoke in your area might have aggravated it? I know that you've had quite a few illnesses the last few months. Did some of them seem to happen when you had wildfires in the area? Might be something to think about.:confused3

Hi Alison,

I felt like I was coming down with something but thought it was due to lack of sleep and allergies. Then by Tues night I felt like crap and went to the doctor on Wednesday. I feel a lot better except for coughing so dang much. It's really annoying and is driving me nuts. I'm going to ask for promethazine with codeine because I took it before and that seemed to help.

I know you probably think I'm crazy...but if you are coughing and have a stuffy nose it is probably due to the phlegm going down your throat and annoying it. I joke a lot about the Neilmed Sinus Rinse, but you would be amazed at how much it will help. Unless your nose is completely stuffed ie no air going thru at all, it will work.

This sounds really weird, but if you have a cold or any other type of illness with stuff nose, coughing, etc...it will clear it right out. You will still feel like your sinuses are swollen a bit, but the stuffiness and post nasal drip will be gone. It will feel odd to use the first time, but it doesn't hurt at all. I know that I've had a cold sometimes, but I can't really tell because it eliminates the most bothersome part of colds and viral infections.

Did I get that message right Dizzy? Are you volunteering to come do my laundry??:lmao:

Just made a new salsa recipe I found on the back of a can of black beans. It is very tasty, healthy and depending on how much onion you put it, it could be very kid friendly.

1 can black beans, rinsed.
1 can corn, rinsed
2 tomatoes, diced
Onion, diced, however much you like. Recipe calls for 1 medium.
1/4 cup lime juice
1 tsp. cummin powder

Works good with Tostito's Scoops, but I think it would taste awesome on taco's, burritos or even on scrambled eggs.:thumbsup2

That wasn't quite what I had in mind. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Tomatoes are evil!!!

However if the salsa is hot enough and the tomatoes are squished up and cooked then they are wonderful :cloud9:
