The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Funniest thing about DS's birth...I left the office and noon....and then called them before 5pm to announce the birth. They all thought I was joking! NOPE...just organized and efficient.:lmao: Honestly, I felt so good after having him that I could have gone back to work. I was up a couple of hours later sweeping the floor and putting clean sheets on my bed. I can remember for about a week after having him I must have been on an adrenaline high or something because I felt awesome and absolutely full of energy. They made us stay that night and the next because DS was born 6 weeks early and the first day he had a little problem keeping his temp up. But I felt so good we went to Costco on the way home to buy a diaper bag...no diaper bags, but got two new recliner chairs.:rotfl2:
:lmao: I was like that after having Mikalah. I popped out of bed, hoped in the shower, and I was ready to go.

After Alex.... not so much. I was talking in the hospital about how different the experiance was, and my dad said that with Alex it was a lot more high stress. The situation and all.. So it just made me feel worse. :confused3 Maybe. He was probably right, he generally was.

Thats really nice! Im glad to know that Im not the only one who thinks that would be okay. :thumbsup2 my mom just thought we were nuts. He KNOWS all about childbirth. Heck... He probably knows more then she does!:lmao:

It's ok I think that's part of a parent's job...to think their kids are nuts!:lmao: Of course we did have my SIL there, her job was to keep an eye on DD and take her out of the room if things got to scary for her.

After I had DS they checked his vitals real quickly and then didn't even clean him off, just laid him on me with a little blankie, finshed up and all the medical people left the room. It was really cool, they didn't come back until about 3 hours later. So we had a really nice family bonding time and when DD came into the room she crawled up into the bed with us and snuggled right up to us. We got some really neat photos of that. I had a midwife with DS and she believed in letting the family have quiet time to bond right after the birth as long as things seemed ok medically.:thumbsup2

Oooohh!!! Bug Excitement here!! Today, I felt my first BIG KICK! I was laying on the couch and baby B was just going to town. I had my hand on my belly and could just feel it bopping around. :lovestruc I have been feeling... you know... the movement that feels like gas, but isnt? :lmao: but to see and feel at least ONE of them, very cool!:thumbsup2

Hello! What's up, girlie?

Not much. Just tucked the kidlets into bed. Let DS stay up past his 9pm bedtime. He was busy helping mop the floors. Some future daughter in law is going to really appreciate me someday.:lmao:

DD was a c-section, so no comparison there. I was in the hospital 5 days after having her and pretty tired for the next couple of weeks.

Awww!! See, thats why I wanted to have a midwife this time! I cant, but boy.. That would be nice. When Mikalah was born, Alex was just barely 3. So he watched a movie up until time to push.. Then my parents took him out of the room.. I pushed, she popped out, and we called him in as fast as we could. He wouldnt come near me. :guilty: He sat with his dad on the couch adn looked at her, and went back to watching the movie. :lmao:

Yes,... I gave birth while watching the Incredibles. :lmao: The next day my mom called to see how we were doing, and Alex talked to Frelan.. and asked if we still had "that baby" :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Probably a good thing DD wasn't in the room or I would have had to watch Dumbo a couple of times.:rotfl2: DD was really excited to have a baby brother...that is for about 1 week until she discovered that he was very colicy and cried all the time. I think she's been wishing we would take him back every since then.:lmao:

My HMO let me have a midwife, even though I was doing a V-bac. She was located in the office with several ob/gyn's...so they helped in my care also. My midwife was on duty when I went to the hospital, but she was scheduled to leave at 6pm, so we figured that the ob/gyn would deliver. But everything worked out great. One thing I really liked was no cutting...she used warm oil massaged in so everything stretched really well and no cutting or stitches required. :thumbsup2

Alex and Mikalah are VERY excited about the twins coming. Alex knows my due date, so he knows they wont be around for a while.. but Mikalah asks every day, your babies coming?? I want to SEE them!:lmao: She likes to rub my belly... always says... I WUV you babies mommy.. :lovestruc Uhuh.. Until they get here and start crying ALL the time. :lmao:

I just woke up... in honor of Gina. :rotfl:

I am tired, WTH???

That's awesome that they are both so excited. I bet they adjust to having them around really well, plus they will be a big help, getting diapers and stuff like that.

This evening DS was loading the dishwasher and I was cleaning some old leftovers out of the fridge. We had an old bottle of wine in the door...I'm not much of a wine drinker but every once in a while my boss gives me wine. Sometimes I like the taste, sometimes not and this was definitely a bottle of NOT!

Anyway, I tell DS to dump it down the sink and throw the bottle in the trash. He says, Mom can I have the bottle. Sure I say, but we have to wash it out good first. He is beaming with excitement at his new "treasure" and then looks at the label and says Geez Mom, this stuff is really past due, it expired in 2005!:rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Well.. no wonder it was so bad. ;) :lmao: KIDDING. I am NOT a wine drinker. Nor beer. But I do love me a GOOD margarita. :lovestruc

WAKE UP ALEX!!

I've been staying up really late since DH is gone hunting. :confused3 They got a 4x4 elk today (4 points on the horns on each side; not a vehicle!:rotfl: ). So I'm pretty excited! Lots of meat for the year. Plus he still has his cow tag, so that's pretty much guaranteed another one. They only have 3 guys at elk camp this year. They always split whatever they get. One elk is about the equivalent of getting a full beef. It would be great if they each got one.:thumbsup2 I wouldn't have to buy any meat except for chicken for about a year.:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 That is AWESOME!

Man, I am NOT KIDDING, I can hardly keep my eyes open. Guess I should give up trying then, huh? :rotfl:

Good night, kids. Try to behave! :cloud9:

Plus elk meat is so much better for you than beef, yet it tastes almost the same. It is very low in fat and the fat that it does have is more unsaturated fat than compared to beef. I do have the butcher add some beef fat to the hamburger, otherwise it's so lean you can't even get it to stick together and you have to add oil to the pan to keep it from sticking.

I wish I could call it free meat...but I'm sure by the time we factor in all the food, ammunition, guns and other stuff it's probably not any less expensive than buying beef. But DH lives all year for this couple of weeks! As DD told him the other day...it's just like a giant grown men slumber party in the woods!:rotfl:
