The how we ate and drank our way around the World Trip Report - UPDATED 05/06!

AKL really is a beautiful resort! Your desserts at Boma look great! Dessert definitely is the most important part of the meal! :thumbsup2

It sure is a beautiful resort and the desserts at Boma are fantastic! I hate that I can only eat so many zebra domes because I'd like to be able to squirrel away a few dozen, but I just can't do it. :Pinkbounc

Here’s my mom in a very blingy outfit. We loved it. Doesn’t she look pretty?

She looks very happy - and pretty too.

I LOVE zebra domes! :p

Just finished catching up. My best trips to WDW have always been with my mom so I'm loving your TR. Can't wait to read more.

Just found your report and am all caught up! Though I did skip the KTTK part, cause we're doing that in October and I wanna be surprised!

Can't wait to read the rest!

Thanks so much for joining in!!! :wave2:

I hope you have as wonderful of a guide as we did! I'd love to hear all about your tour! Very envious that you're going to be there in October!

After our fun little meet and greet at BOMA, we head home to wait for the kids. Their plane wasn’t scheduled to arrive until 11:30 p.m. and there was a delay with them leaving so it was going to be closer to midnight. Keep in mind, all week, we were pretty much in bed by 10:00 so needless to say, waiting to pick them up was hard on us old folk.

Waiting… er sleeping…

DSCN3559.jpg

We take off for the airport.

We wait a little more.

Finally… I get a call from my daughter (Jenna).

Jenna: WE’RE HERE!!!

Me: Yay!!! We’re at door 29, second floor.

Jenna: We’ll be there in about 10 minutes. Can’t wait to see you. So excited!

Me: Can’t wait either.

We wait some more.

And more.

I get another call from Jenna:

Jenna: Where are you?

Me: Second floor. Door 29.

Jenna: Great! Love you! On our way!

Wait a little more.

My phone rings. Again.

Jenna: We’re at door 29. You’re not here.

Me: Ummm… you’re obviously at the wrong door 29. We’re here. I’m looking at it right now. What floor are you on?

Jenna: Ugh. I DON’T KNOW! We’ll keep looking.

Me: Okay. :confused3

As I’m standing there in my jammies (cuz it IS midnight, afterall), an employee walks past me so I say, “excuse me, what floor are we on?” And she confirms, “second floor”.

I knew it. :scratchin

I soon get a text from Jenna that says: you’re not at door 29.

My reply: Yes we are. Floor 2. Baggage claim. Figure it out! ::yes::

At this point, I’m seriously wondering if one of us is somehow at the wrong airport when I look up and see them coming through the door and this was their reaction.

Big babies. Not sure where they were but I was at door 29, second floor.

If you look real close in the background, you can see a smile on Jenna’s face.

DSCN3562.jpg

Finally.

We’re on our way back to the house after more discussion of where door 29 was.

First thing they do?

Hop in the pool.

DSCN3564.jpg

There we go. That’s my happy kid.

DSCN3566.jpg

Finally here. That’s my husband (Dave) and notice the time on the clock. It’s after 1:00 a.m. Waaaaaaaaaay past our bedtime.

DSCN3567.jpg

Jenna’s starting to feel it now too…

DSCN3569.jpg

And I guess Dave is too…

Good night.

Next up… some chillaxing and O’Hana! Then the real fun begins!

Cute picture of your mom "waiting" to pick up everyone. Your family looks like a lot of fun. Can't wait to hear what happens with everyone there!

I'm really enjoying your trip report! It brings back so many memories of laughs, frustrations (which brought on more laughs eventually!) and good times of trips to WDW with my mom and sister, who are both gone now.
Thank you for sharing all your good times!

I'm very sorry to hear that both your mom and sister are gone. I honestly don't know what I would do without them. I think we all realize how precious life is and that is why we truly enjoy each other's company so much. We honestly cherish every day together.

It was sooo funny. The kids (can we really still call them that?) were so frustrated that "we" (as in the adults) were not where we belonged.... Um, I think it was the other way around. It took them about 5 minutes to get uncrabby once they were in the car with the windows down enjoying the nice warm air... compared to MN.

There have been a lot of comments on how lucky we are we can travel with our family. We really are lucky and really do enjoy being around all of us. We know the days are soon over where our college kids will be grown up - working adult type jobs and start having families on their own and we won't be able to get them on "our" vacations any longer.

We are enjoying each and every (ok, mostly every!) minute!

I'm Subscribing!!! popcorn::

I loved the first part of the trip with your Mom! My best trip to WDW was the last one I got to take with my Mom. It was magical and perfect. I love going back and remembering that time with her. Your Momma is a sweetheart as well as you and your sister. So glad yall got to spend this special time together!!! Can't wait for more!!! :)

One of the reasons we had so muuch luggage was because the kids and Dave were only doing carryon. We figured they were getting there late enough without having to wait for their luggage. I think Jenna's mom had a whole suitcase of Jenna's clothes and both moms had all of the stuff that you can't carry on. I also had a lot of food items in my luggage.

The kids all loved the pool, and the boys really liked the game room (garage).

We are sooooooooooo lucky that we all get along and can go on vacations together. A five bedroom, big house, gives you plenty of room. The true test is our summer vacation in a small three bedroom cabin.

Very true.

Yeah, that's always fun and it's a VERY small three-bedroom cabin! Ahhh... family togetherness! :grouphug:

Today started out with my husband cooking breakfast for us! I just have to say I have the absolute most wonderful husband. I’m a very lucky girl!

DSCN3571.jpg

Even though I have to share a bed and our quiet time is completely gone, it’s soooo nice having our family here (minus my sister’s husband… he’s not into flying. Or crowds. Or Disney?!?!?!?) Yeah, I know… how is he in THIS family? :confused3

You know how there’s nothing better than waking up that first morning on vacation? I could see it on all of their faces. They were finally on vacation. And it was their first day. But I was already starting to feel that dread of vacation being half over, which it was for us. I don’t know why I do it to myself but it happens every time. Once we’re at about the half-way point, that pit it my stomach starts to appear and I really hate it but I start counting down the days and I start to get depressed. It’s just so hard when you anticipate a trip like this for so long and honestly, half the fun is planning and waiting, isn’t it? Once we’re actually ON vacation, my little messed up mind tells me it’s almost over. Ugh. I can’t stop it. So… as much as the kids were enjoying their new vacation feel, there was that little part of me that was beginning to get very sad. Which was so messed up because we still had OVER a week left! Sorry about that little sidetrack.

Anyway… the kids eating…

DSCN3572.jpg

And whoever said you shouldn’t swim right after you eat didn’t really get through to the kids. It’s their first day of vacation. It’s sunny. It’s very warm out. And they just came from a Minnesota blizzard. They’re swimming.

Or dipping…

And relaxing…

More flowers. Remember? Minnesota. No flowers?

DSCN3607.jpg

I always love getting the shots walking away…

DSCN3609.jpg

Okay… have you ever sat on one of the swinging benches at Poly? They are designed for you to sit just long enough to get a picture because they are literally shoving you right off the swing! It was the funniest thing! See how my husband is hanging on??? You had to kinda brace yourself on them.

DSCN3610.jpg

DSCN3611.jpg

I thought I’d give the “boot ‘em out” swing a shot… but only long enough to get this very sweet, not planned picture at all!

Next up... food galore at O'Hana!

Love that you have your own pool! How fantastic is that?

We also love the Poly. It's one of our favorite things to do while at Disney!
