you tell me! I am dying to know what it is going to be this year. I have seen the Cabbage Patch craze, the Tickle Me Elmo craze and last year the Dora Talking House Furniture craze. Any predictions as to what it is going to be this year or is it too early to tell? :earseek:

They actually just had a supposed top toy list on the radio this morning.
They listed 10 items that are supposed to be top sellers for the holiday season. Of the one's I can remember:

Thomas The Train Aqua Doodle
Talking Dora Kitchen
Tumbling Elmo (something like that)
The newest GBA-- I forget what they called this version
Furby- I thought this was a joke- then I noticed a massive display at my Walmart today.
A Bratz Doll Party Tour Bus

Thats all I can remember for now.

"The Toy Wishes Holiday Preview will be held on Thursday, October 6th at Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. The press conference announcing the Toy Wishes Holiday 2005 All Stars and Hot Dozen will be held at 10 AM promptly." (press release)

And here's the list from Toys R Us
The 14 new toys that Toys “R” Us has named the best of the season are (in alphabetical order):

Bratz™ Rock Angelz™ Tour Bus from MGA Entertainment
Dora’s Talking Kitchen™ from Fisher-Price
FLY™ Pentop Computer from LeapFrog
Fly Wheels™ Rapid Fire Launcher from Jakks Pacific
Furby® from Hasbro
GBA Micro from Nintendo
Giggles and Coos Baby Doll from You & Me
iZ™ from Zizzle
Laugh & Learn™ Musical Learning Chair™ (with activity table) from Fisher-Price
LEGO® Vikings Fortress from LEGO
Pixel Chix™ from Mattel
Roll-A-Rounds™ Drop & Roar™ Dinosaur from Fisher-Price
Thomas & Friends Aquadoodle™ from Spin Master
Tumble Time Tigger™ from Fisher-Price

Sign me up for this one...

Tumble Time Tigger

That is the list I heard, so obviously that is where they got it from.

My DD has already starting talking about Furby, I guess I will need to ask my neice for her old one from the first Furby craze years ago! :rotfl:

I can't help but wonder if there will even be a toy craze this year with the war still going on, the rising cost of gasoline and the rising cost of heating the homes. I know a lot of people who have scaled back their buying. I know our Christmas won't have as much as in the past.

The thing I noticed about Christmas so far is that more people seem to be starting earlier (our sales are really doing well so far) to spread it out whether by layaway or just smaller buys... The one thing is that all the toys we are getting for christmas were made during the last gas price hike about a 8-10 months ago and so the costs to make them are higher so markup is less so itll be interesting to see how the "price wars" do this year...

My opinions though:
Bratz™ Rock Angelz™ Tour Bus from MGA Entertainment< we arnt getting it but Bratz dont do well at ALL at my store

Dora’s Talking Kitchen™ from Fisher-Price<< Itll do okay

FLY™ Pentop Computer from LeapFrog< I'm not impressed but it'll do really well (Dont ask me how i know already...)

Fly Wheels™ Rapid Fire Launcher from Jakks Pacific<< Will do pretty well- I'm surprised the special packs didnt do very well from the ad last week

Furby® from Hasbro<- Ugggh I hate 'em but amazingly they are selling...

GBA Micro from Nintendo < no idea- I'm a toy Associate...

Giggles and Coos Baby Doll from You & Me<< Well we arnt getting them so no idea.

iZ™ from Zizzle<< also not getting

Laugh & Learn™ Musical Learning Chair™ (with activity table) from Fisher-Price< Doubt itll be HOT as I havent even had to move any of them around yet...

LEGO® Vikings Fortress from LEGO< will do well though I think itll be the Dinosaurs that'll win

Pixel Chix™ from Mattel< doubt it as they've been deleted from Walmarts already

Roll-A-Rounds™ Drop & Roar™ Dinosaur from Fisher-Price< Really pretty decent seller but I think the Imaginext Dinos set will dominate all other preschool toy sells...

Thomas & Friends Aquadoodle™ from Spin Master< We dont have these if we are getting them at all... Aquadoodle will do well this year

Tumble Time Tigger™ from Fisher-Price < will do well the only issue is that the boxes are poorly designed and we may loose sales because they get soo easily damaged.

Other items:

Amazing Amanda- I think itll be hard to get just cause most stores (atleast Walmart) arnt getting many (We are getting 8 total)

Geotrax will have another HUGE year

Scene-it will be HUGE esp Harry Potter and Disney

"Yes, Virgina there is a Santa"

Every year the innocence of young children brings back the Christmas Spirit, despite wars, hurricanes, death and gas prices, parents will find a way to put up a Christmas Tree strung with lights and bulbs, with a few precious gifts tucked under the bottom branchs for the kids and once more the children will thank Santa. :grouphug:  :wizard:

Total of 8? you mean until Christmas?

I started buying about 2 months ago. So far I've spent 100 on one kid and 50 on the other. I bought my niece all the Harry Potter Books. A neat HP bookmark, A crimper/straightener for her hair, Cinderella DVD (just today) - my sister asked her if she saw Cinderella yet and she replied "Not the Digitally Remastered one Mom!". She's 8. For my nephew 7 I've gotten Shark Boy & Lava Girl and Robots so far. I usually get them Movies. Nobody else buys em movies without checking with me.

Herbie Fully Loaded is coming out at the end of the month.
In November
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Scariest movie I ever saw but the kids liked it)
Chip and Dale Rescue Ranger (should probably buy this one so the kids know who Chip and Dale are)
Disney Princess A Christmas of Enchantment
Madagascar (We like to Move it!)
The Polar Express
Sky High
Fantasic Four ?? (Don't rememberr if it was suitable for kids)
In December
Definitely Not Buying them The Bad News Bears (might watch it when they're not around though)
Kronk's New Groove is a definite.

Sigh I'm only spending 150 each (rest they are getting for spending money on the trip) how am I going to choose? :confused3

Honestly, I think most toys with batteries aren't worth it. Odds are they'll end up in next summers rummage sale for Disney.

I noticed Furby in the toy ads too. I wonder if the new one does anything different? :confused3

hi just reading the predictions from you guys thought you might like to know the hot toy in the UK this year is Roboraptor which is an amazing interactive robot dinosaur. it is around £ 90 thats around 160 dollars . i hope it is not too early to wish you guys a merry christmas and a happy new year !!!

I wasn't suggesting that there wouldn't be a Christmas or that the spirit would be totally lost. I was merely saying that I didn't think there would be a toy craze. I can recall past toy crazes where parents would spend upwards of hundreds of dollars on a toy that retailed for maybe $20 or $30. I just think with people watching their money more that this won't happen this year.

We still have the old Furby.... Whats the name of that pen the does what you write? Is that the Fly Pen? Looks awesome and I'm buying that one for my son. Boys are hard to buy for when their 5. I feel like we have to much already..sick of matchbox and hot wheel track everywhere..

My dd is 5 and the only thing she really really wanted was the Graco room full of fun..it has a high chair, carseat, pack n play bouncer etc. with it for her baby dolls. It has been 69.99 for the longest time on Amazon.com and then the shipping was CRAZY...so I finally got it for 29.99 free shipping..WOOHOO I got it yesterday. Good thing she was in school when it came because it was not in a brown amazon box just the original box with a shipping label on it..

I will get her a few more other things but nothing on the top 10 list.

I have no clue as to what I can get DD1 because she needs nothing and she plays with all of DD5's toys...that one will be tough.

I remember the year the Razor scooters were the "hot toy". My mother and I were at Walmart on Black Friday and I saw 2 women fighting over them and then all the sudden I saw one lady grab the scooter and hit the other woman in the head with it and cut her head pretty bad they had to rush her to the ER...STUPID PEOPLE!!!

I did pretty good last year DD5 got 4 of the top 10 toys last year and I never stepped one foot out the door to get it..THANK GOD FOR ONLINE SHOPPING!!!!

DD6 woke me up last Sat. morning after she saw Amazing Amanda advertised on tv. Hadn't ever heard of her until then. Looked her up online at the toys r us store- $99.99 with mixed reviews. They are probably getting portable DVD players for Christmas and that is their 'big' item and Amazing Amanda will more than likely not make it under the tree.
Other than that- neither of my children have mentioned anything new that they want. (other than my DD really, really wants a loose tooth- don't think Santa can bring that one!!!)

My kids are 4 and 6. I have started shopping already. I have my DD almost done. My DS is 1/2 done. My DD is wanting the Dora talking kitchen. She already has a kitchen she doesn't play with :)
