The Hot New Toy For Christmas is...

I wanted to start shopping to spread out the expense, but none of this sounds good to me.
I just feel like my kids have so much "stuff" already. Anyone else feel like that? I try to get rid of it and suddenly it becomes a prized possession.
Furby? Are you kidding me?
I usually love Leapfrog toys. This Fly Pen...please Leapfrog, don't sell out your quality worthwhile learning toys to make as much money as you can. (BTW, I don't know if they make it anymore, but Leapfrog Imagination Desk is GREAT for younger kids 2-3 years or kids with special needs and is not outrageously expensive.) My son would like Lego Viking, but I don't want more Legos in my house.
Nintendo--Stop It! Every year they are coming out with a new gameboy. We have three versions now, with Nintendo DS being the latest from last Christmas.
I feel like such a scrooge!
Two son's one is 7 and one is 10. Maybe it was more fun when they were little.
DS 10 y.o. keeps talking about an I Pods. Says a lot of the kids in his class are getting one for Christmas. Yeah, right. Tell me lots of people aren't buying I Pods for fifth fraders.--please, gulp, please!
Good thing I have a couple of months to get the Christmas spirit. :wave2:

Glad I just bought my DD the Talking Dora Kitchen at Toys R Us last week. She loves the the Dora Talking House so I thought this might be a big hit with her too. Toys R Us also had a special where it came with a plush Dora doll too. Not a bad deal. We also go her the Mickey TV and Grandma and Grandpa got her the Mickey DVD Player to go with it. Now to check on Amazing Amanda....

Any ideas on what to get almost 9 year old girls for Christmas this year? They are my boyfriend's girls and I am clueless but would like to start shopping.

That is all my 6th grade DS is talking about. I bought him the IPOD Nano for Christmas about a month ago. Most of his friends have one or want one. So your DS is the right age for asking, probably most of his friends have one or want one.

My dd is 9 and in 4th grade, and she bought herself an Ipod in 3rd grade, with saved up birthday and Christmas money. Yes, it was quite spendy, but I'd rather have her buy a nice expensive thing, than 15 more Bratz dolls :flower: . I don't know if all the kids at school have them or not, but she LOVES it! She never goes for a ride in the car without it. She loves her music.

Now for Furby, I want one for me! I still have our old ones and I still love them. The new one is much bigger and more interactive. Dh is a last minute shopper though, so I'm sure they'll be gone before I get one.

My husband teaches elementary school, so from what I hear: Limited Too if they like clothes, American Girl if they like dolls (these aren't baby dolls - they can dress like them, but they are pricey).

Well, I too I have been through the 1st Furby craze . . .I am so glad I'm past that.

I did see awhile back in the Toys R Us flier not only advertising the Furbies but Tamogotchi as well . . .I'm sure they are going to try to push them to be the Hot Toys for 2005.

Only advice I would give is that if you feel your child wants a Furby, get one now . . .never wait till after Turkey Day.

My children were under 10 when the first Furby craze hit and they both wanted one. I'm sure by Halloween the commercials will start coming out for them . . .To be totally honest, they were played with for a little bit, then forgotten . . .Waste of money IMHO.

Every Memorial Day we usually camp at a campground near Santa's Village. Our DD asked Santa for Belle and Tinkerbell dresses. She's still asking for them so I think I'm all set.

During the Disney Direct shopping frenzy I bought Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Belle and Tinkerbell dresses. So, that's her big gift--a box of dresses, wands, crowns, shoes. Other than that she's getting a few DVD's, Disney Dollars and a few toys I picked up on clearance after Christmas last year. All her gifts this year will be Disney themed as we will be there for Christmas.

I also bought her the deluxe Belle dress for her Birthday (Nov). It's beautiful! However, I'm really dispointed as it is extremely long. In fact it's 5 inches longer than the regular Belle dress in the same size. I'm going to keep it but it will be too long for her to wear during our trip to Disney this Christmas. BTW--the trip was the reason I bought it.

I going to try to figure out a way to alter it (without ruining it) OR I guess I'll have to pray she grows another 4 inches (won't happen as she just went through a growth spurt). Another option is to buy a pair of the sneakers with a heel on them and alter the dress so it's a few inches shorter.

She will be 4 in Nov. She has a size 4/5 Cinderella dress from last year. I ordered the above dresses in size 6/6x because her dress from last year is getting short and hard for her to put on. She's approx. 36 pounds and 42 inches tall.

sorry, I guess I went OT. Anyway, my shopping is done except for a battery operated Belle toothbrush for her stocking. Yes, I've got all the stocking stuffers as well. Now I need to work on my husband's gifts. We agreed not to buy anything but I never listen! he he

Has anyone seen that Star Station I think it is by Fisher Price? When your child sings and thier picture is on the TV. My DD really wants this but I haven't heard anything about it.

If your DD's like American Girl, don't forget that the Felicity movie will be on TV in November (much like the Samantha movie that aired last November). If you even think your DD would be interested in a Felicity or Elizabeth doll, or any of their outfits or accessories, I would think about ordering them before the movie airs, or you may be out of luck. My DD had Samantha last year, but wanted Nellie and some outfits and (especially) Samantha's bed for Christmas. My mom had ordered Nellie early, but I wanted to wait for our next AmEx cycle(which fell after the movie aired) before ordering the outfits and the bed. Well, when I went to order, the bed and many of the outfits were sold out and on backorder. The bed was not supposed to ship until mid-March!!! I absolutely panicked!!! After much panic and frantic E-bay searches, I spoke to a friend of mine whose DD is also into AG. She told me to try calling the store in Chicago, because the stores are a separate entity from the catalog. I did, and fortunately they had the items I needed, and were able to ship them to me. Christmas crisis averted!!! So, learn from my mistake, and order before the movie if Felicity and/or Elizabeth is on your DD's Christmas list!

There is an adorable MP3 player coming out at Best Buy with Tinkerbell on it. It is soooo cute. You cab buy the memory cards that have the Disney CD on them and plug them in the end or you can download music. They are only 49.99. This is a definite for my DD. My other DD (15) wants the new doll from American Girl, Elizabeth. If she still wants a doll then I say OK! We are definitely cutting back this Christmas. My kids want another Disney trip next year so I have to start saving.

That is what my DD wants too. I've seen it advertised in some of the Sunday flyers for around $55.00.

*Atleast* at my Walmart store Amazing Amanda is currently a one shot deal but like always "things are subject to change" and we may get more- (Home office has a way with that sometimes...)

Walmart will also be doing the FLY pen for about 100 when it released on the 17th

Star Station is oddly doing well- My issue with it is most of the songs are not "kid friendly" in the fact I wouldnt want MY 3-5 year old kid singing "All star" or "Fly" or most of the other songs that come with it- On every cartridge there is atleast one song that I find a little questionable for that age group (Tweens and up- Id be fine but 3-5???)

The last thing my kids need is more toys. For Christmas, I've already gotten DS4 another box of Creatrix by FisherPrice and another Thomas the Tank Engine Expansion Track Set for his wooden railway set. For DD1.5, I bought a Cabbage Patch Doll. I also have cds, dvds, new leapster games, candy, books, etc. that I've put away for stockings. For their big present, both kids will get Lands End bean bag chairs with their names embroidered on them.

(My kids have 4 full sets of grandparents due to divorce & remarriage, so there will be plenty of toys around here at Chrismtas time.)

For DS, the most desireable item is more Leapster games.

My DD is 9. I bought her some American Girl books "The Care and Keeping of Friends" and another one and she loves them. I'm really big on buying books for gifts. Limited Too stuff is good, nail polish, a journal/diary. My DD is still playing with dolls and is into Polly Pocket now so I got some of those. Hope that helps. She's also asking for Pixel Chix, but they're almost $30 and she's getting alot of other stuff so she won't be getting that.

I don't know what Nintendo is thinking of with the GB Micro. It's stupid. My boys already have Nintendo DS and GBA SP, and don't even want a Micro. The Micro is $99; a DS is $129 and has a LOT more capabilities. The Micro screen is too small, and it's too limited. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Maybe if it is was $30 it would be good for a kid with no gameboys, but for $99...no way!

Seems to me Nintendo is diluting their product line to no purpose.

My son is Bionicle crazed. He wants all the new sets for Christmas and the new movie.
Other than that he has only asked for a few game boy games and he wants the Herbie movie.
His birthday is in November as well so we need big lists for all the grandma's and aunts/uncles. It's like pulling teeth to get info out of this kid.

My son REALLY wants a BC Builder set for Christmas. We might get him a Blue's Clues thinking chair too.

Ughh... I HATE Bratz... luckily though I think the frenzy that surrounded them is fizzling. (can you tell I'm biased from my signature? ;) )

Sometimes I wonder if the designer for those overly tarty dolls are a bunch of wierd 40 year old men. :rotfl2:

Thank you for all the great ideas. I didn't think of limited too gc but they LOVE clothes, I was thinking og Build-a-Bear, but they already have so many stuffed animals. They really don't play with dolls...maybe we will have to go shopping for christmas ideas this weekend!!!!! Any new board games out there for 9 year olds that are popular?

This is on my list for my son. He is 3 1/2. We were at TRU this week and he loved it. I'm hoping it will be a black friday sale item.
