The higher cost of flying

In booking a couple WDW trips this year I have noticed a significant increase in costs from only 1-2 years ago. I understand the fuel costs but still...

RT from Newark to Orlando is about $500 each after fees for end of June and July, and 400+ in December. Of course this is for leaving early and returning late- but I'm amazed at the difference from when when I booked 2 years ago in the summer and to a lesser extent last December. I guess those $250 days are good and gone!

I bought tickets last week for December paid 200/rt from Newark. Usually I don't buy until 2-3 months out but was just checking and saw that price and grabbed them. I don't travel at holiday times I've never paid more than 250. In the mid '90s I remember paying 235 they really haven't changed much since then.

Sounds like a good deal! December looked a bit better but I'm using points and haven't followed as close. The summer however, is sky high. I guess it doesn't help I have to travel on weekends due to work :/

I don't know where you're looking, but checking Expedia for RT flights the last week in June from EWR-MCO, I found plenty of options for under $375 and several under $350. If you had looked sooner than a month before traveling, you could have gotten those $250 tickets. Don't wait until the last minute to buy airline tickets.

Last week I got RT $485 for both of us EWR to MCO. Going down on Jet Blue coming home on United (so I guess after luggage fee $515). This is for the second week of September.

You are right in that I should have booked earlier- one of the trips was a last minute decision unfort. What doesn't help is I usually travel Saturday. So I can't take advantage of those great JetBlue deals Tue-Thur for example.
