I am so hot at the moment I can't think straight, I wouldn't mind if I was in Florida but I am in Essex and just taken the temperature in the classroom with a digital probe and it is 34.2 degrees!!!!!:scared1::scared1:, but not too surprised as it is in the middle of a food technology practical but even so - the only methods of cooling the class room are 2 commonal garden ventaxia's, keep phoning the site manager to get him to come and see how hot it is, but one of the deputy heads just told me to stop moaning and get on with it!!!! oh for the air conditioning of Florida

We had air conditioning fitted last year in the office and I'm now sitting in a lovely cool 18 degC :)

Our office is an oven, the only part of the building that didn't ahve aircon fitted even though the building was purpose built only 4 years ago  :headache:

Claire ;)

I need to sleep....been up half the night being sick & rather typically the school over the back is having their sports day - complete with loud music & a megaphone! :headache:

I am soo hot, tired & ill.....and feeling sorry for myself. :sad2:

I wouldn't complain if it was Florida heat though. ;)

We had air con fitted in all of the offices and counselling rooms last year. It was a pain at the time but I'm so glad of it now.

My classroom is like a sauna too, no air seems to come in, hence 30 very hot and grumpy 5 yr olds and me with a very big headache!

Sorry to hear your poorly , this heat must be making you feel even worse
Hope you feel a little better today

I've been off work sick the last two days and in a way I'm glad - it was so hot in the classrooms on Monday and it would have been worse yesterday - I hate trying to teach when the weather is like this because everyone is just fed up!

well its no better today - and to add to it, maths and IT had their air conditioning units delivered today (to be installed during hols) although we have complained for years about the temperature we are not top priority!!! because they have 20 pc's in their rooms - we have 22 ovens and I know which produce more heat. Now it is 34.6 and we are again in the middle of a practical, although site manager told the food teacher that under health and safety she should not be cooking but she would not listen - guess who is sitting down in the office because she feels too hot!!!!

I don't think I will be coming in tomorrow if it is this hot - as we are cooking again then.....

I'm assuming that the AC is in the computer rooms to keep the equipment cool as opposed to keeping the room comfortable. No excuse for expecting you to work under those conditions though.
Where I am at the moment is around about 45degC outside, but they really have their act together with the AC. Its amazing how cold it feels inside when we come in from the heat, and amazing how quick you can feel ill if one of them breaks and the rooms heat up.
But I do wonder why people can cope in different parts of the world but don't like it too hot in the UK. :confused3

To make me feel even more uncomfortable my arms and legs are completley covered in a very itchy heat rash - and have had to work an hour longer as the powers that be decided that once a fortnight on a wedesday we would have a period 6 for design and technology students - huh out of 22 students I have 8 - just wish we could send them home and go ourselves, only 15 mins left till I rush home cook dinner and take DS training - better not sit down when I get home, I might not get up again

I work with 0-4s and am in daycare at the moment which luckily has doors at both ends of the room so it's not that bad inside. It'll be nice when the foundation stage nursery children break up for the summer as we'll be able to spend more time in the centre's main garden which is huge and has a canopied area which the smaller daycare one doesn't. I sympathise completely with those having to work in ridiculous temperatures: I've worked in places in the past during hot weather which have been so badly ventilated and unbearably hot :headache:
