I can recite the ENTIRE ride dialogue by heart

I didn't read this whole thread but I have to ask... Were you there on President's Day this year?

I originally asked the question about the ring that started this ridiculous attack on what I thought at the time was an adult. Since learning now that this is a 15yo kid I am appalled. Some adults on this board need to act more like adults. There is nothing wrong with this kid having a little confidence. Not one time has he sent anything RUDE or DISRESPECTFUL to any adults here, even the moderator. I think we should all thank God (or Allah, or Buddah, or any other religious figure just to be politically correct) that this kid isn't smoking CRACK or KILLING PEOPLE! That said thank you WxOxN for answering my question to the best of your ability. I really liked your story as well. I don't care that you may have googled some of the answers because that is a learning tool. The jury may be out on the King of the Haunted Mansion, but I think because you didn't ast like a "Typical" disrespectful teenager (like some of these adults did) that you are definitely the King of Civility. I am glad that the DISboards give you an outlet to showcase your talent and learn at the same time. Go ahead FLAME ME, that had to be said

Thank you very much. I appreciate people who take notice of what I do right instead of hanging me for one small thing I do wrong. Also I appreciate feedback on my story I am very glad that people like you took the time to read it :)

No flames from me, Tink, but consider this:

Misinformation is a huge problem on internet boards, including the DIS, and the DIS tends to be a pretty savvy place when it comes to what's what at Disney. There isn't a problem, per say, with 'getting it wrong', because people DO come out and tell you your information is inaccurate.

While it may not seem like a big deal, when someone puts themself forward as an 'expert', their info is often taken at face value. Again, this doesn't seem like a big deal until people start expecting to see, hear, experience whatever it was the person put forth as 'truth'.

Also, many of us care a lot about the integrity of the attractions. When someone spreads misinformation as fact without being called on it, the integrity of the attraction suffers. Again, not a big deal to some people but a VERY big deal to others.

If you have ever seen some of the threads where one person INSISTS their information is correct (such as the idea that the post stump is really a ring, or, in the most infamous case, that the turkey legs are really Emu), you'll know why some people really do care that a self-proclaimed expert should have their facts straight. The OP here does not insist he is right, but it is fair to point out that much of it is, in fact, wrong.

I'm glad to see you have recently found the DIS and I hope you enjoy your visits here. I also hope we can give you the very best, most accurate information regarding the parks and attractions, as well as some really fun "community" type threads.

Which bit of my info was wrong? I admit I messed up on the dust line but that was really just a typo. The pieces on top of The HM are supposed to be chess pieces and they look exactly like chess pieces. For some reason people are trying to find TINY bits of mis-information. I was also correct about the ring story. And for some reason I have NOT received ONE thank you from anyone who posted other than Prettyintink. I have answered questions to the VERY VERY best of my ability and now everyone treats me like a kid. FOOLISHMORTAL you and the other bashers on this thread should really think about the person before you post. Accusations of FRAUD and PLAGUERISM really hurt someones feelings. And yet I am shocked that no one other than Tink has given me props for being only 15 and knowing so much about The HM.

O....K...that was a very interesting story. It sure would explain a lot even though it's a bit gross...not quite Disney. :bitelip: I was wondering how far back in time your story go's? I kind of though zippers weren't around for a while! :confused3

Chronologically inaccurate, thank you for pointing that out. I dont know what date i should make the story and i should probably exclude the LSU bit. Thank you for your post.

Several statement you made were either half-truths or out and out incorrect. But just because someone points that out doesn't mean they are bashing you, it just means you now have the opportunity to check your facts and prove either prove yourself right or learn something you didn't know before. :)

It's not a BAD thing to have people point out inaccuracy. In fact, one could say 'Welcome to the world of adults!' It gives you the chance to learn more than you knew before.

No one is against you, wolfxofxnovember. Why be so resistent to learning about a topic you say you love? As a writer, I have to be absolutely certain my facts are correct or I have to expect someone to tell me I got it wrong. It is then not up to THEM to provide the research, it's up to me, and it just wastes time to be upset over it. Better to put your head down and find out what's what.

Try it! You're on the right track, you have a noble goal and I'm sure you can be the 'foremost expert' if you stop being angry at people for pointing out inaccurate info, stop looking for nothing but praise, and start checking your facts. You CAN be the foremost expert, but it doesn't come without work, my friend! :)

I am not angry I am only upset over people accusing me of being a FRAUD or a PLAGEURIST these words really hurt. I admit nor I or anyone knows everything about The HM but I know a fair share. I have no problem looking up any inaccurate information if you would elaborate on which questions I have gotten wrong or have not fully explained. :)

There actually are many people that know EVERYTHING about the Haunted Mansion. They're known as the Imagineers. There are people who have spent years researching the attractions at parks and they never claim to be the KING. Again...if you are going to boast about how amazing you are, you should be able to back that up.

I did think about you. The one who said they know it all and to test them.

I tested you and beat you, so why do you want to continue to bring my name into this?

Hey you're the one who boasted not me. All I did was do what you asked, ask a question.

As for your age...I honestly think that really doesn't matter. At 15 you should be old enough to not get your feeelings hurt when someone proves you wrong. But wait, this is the 2000's, let's coddle the kids until they have no clue about life, even though they started the whole thread.. I am sorry I did what you asked, please accept my apology!

Wolf, Seriously, if you got your feelings hurt I am sorry for that, but maybe now you will know not to go boasting about things. No matter who you are there is ALWAYS someone who knows more.

So take this thread for what it is...more information in your quest to know ALOT about the HM. But please also remember you will never be the all knowing about it...there are always others who know more.

I really want to close this thread. My dream to know more about The HM has turned into a nightmare of people tring to discredit or accuse me of awful things such as PLAGUERISM. Words like these are very strong and should only be used in extreme situations. Another thing since the last couple threads I have not received one question but rather have had to defend myself countless times. So I ask one thing LAY OFF or I will have this thread closed.

When you wait on the line to get on the ride there used to be this gremiln head on a post right before you would get into the car... I heard that you had to rub the head before you go on or you would be haunted or something like that...

I used to do it and the head was all worn down... Now it's not there anymore...

So I guess I have 2 questions...

What's the story if anyone has ever heard of this (tell me anything you've heard I want to know them all)
Where is it? Did Disney Move it???

Thanks a bunch -Mac pirate:

I have never heard of the gremlin head but there are gagoyles in the stretching room that kind of resemble gremlins. So I guess I cant help you sorry I would like to know more about this gremlin though.

Will you please read what the last 3 of us told you. Use this as more information in your quest.

I have said before that I have no problem with corrections. I only ask that you please elaborate on which questions I have gotten wrong that way I can research them. I have absolutely no problem with constructive criticism. I have a problem when people take cheap shots at me or accuse me of PLAGUERISM or FRAUD. You still have no idea how much it hurts to be called a FRAUD or PLAGUERIST. These words are very strong.

Personally I think everyone has to LIGHTEN UP on the DIS!!! It's meant to be helpful and FUN and to talk about DISNEY!! Not to harass people... So try to have fun and stop being so serious about this stuff... Because attacking people isn't what Disney is all about...

The head in question was a bat head finial along the queue just before you enter the doombuggies. It was located at the final turn and was worn down due to countless hands 'sweeping' over it as they made the turn. It then took on a life of it's own, so to speak, and became an incredibly popular icon all HM fans would see out, as everyone wanted to 'rub it for good luck'.

However, it was removed when the HM underwent a rehab a year or so ago and is currently 'on tour', in a way. I was lucky enough to give it one last rub when it was at Henry Ford Museum in Michigan last year (and I happened to be there at the same time).

How do I know this? Research and personal experience. One dealing with the facts while in the HM, the other because I saw the bat in person, a wonderful stroke of luck. :)
