I'm going to try to write this quickly, in spite of all the hammering, sawing, spewing dust, puking... etc. which is going on around me as we speak. My manfriends are fixing up the place! Yeah! And we should be very, very good friends soon... as this will probably take a while. But... I'm happy that the work is in progress anyway. Tommy spent the weekend throwing up and, now, Calvin has joined him. Neither one of them can hit the toilet. Calvin is plenty old enough that he should, but I'm not sure what he does just before. Spins in a circle... I think. So I've been cleaning the carpets, floors and walls all day so far. DH is a very happy, clean, vomit-free DH. He's giggling away at my plight from his office downtown. He says he may have to work late tonight. Ha, ha. Very funny. Very NOT funny. So that's my exciting news. Wish I was in Disney. Or Tibet. Or having a colonoscopy. If Beth comes home and heaves... I'm goin' fetal.
Omigod! I just put a smiley in! I hate them. There's no "throwing up" smiley, though. So I just picked the Simba the Snake one. Why does Simba look like a cobra? I don't like it.
Day 8, Dec 18: After that little bit of messy business with the late CM from Tom Sawyer's Island, I had about three minutes to wait for my long-lost family to return. The two rides were walk-ons and it didn't take them very long to do both and return to me. Now if anyone is wondering what the heck is going on... I'll fill you in. Each morning the CMs on TSI hide some wooden paintbrushes of different colours. Around the island. If you happen to find one and bring it back to the dock to show the Raft Captain, you will be rewarded with a special fastpass. It is good for you, along with all your group, to ride either Splash Mountain or BTMR whenever you want that day. And it's a neat souvenier if you don't need to use it... like us. Or a great way to get another FP ride in when the MK is really packed with people. We didn't use ours. Why not? Well... that comes later. And so we brought it home with us. And, by the way, I read all about the Scavenger Hunt right here on the Disboards. I neglected to get all of the facts straight, though. But that comes later, too. So we all line up by the rope to be the first family onto the raft for the ride over. Our plan is to be the first family OFF the raft as well. And to find the paintbrushes. I also didn't kill that guy. FYI. The Captain Guy finally opens up the rope and we head on to the raft. Joined quite quickly by another family of four, parents and a boy and girl, who look like they're chomping at the bit too. Oh boy! Another competitive family! Oh goody. This should be fun. Or messy. Probably both. A few other couples get on. They are all pretty laid back and I have the feeling they're not here for the game. Just a ride over to the Island. Raft leaves and takes us across to the other dock. As we ride over, I whisper to the happyhaunts that I put the boots to a CM and found out where two of the five brushes are hidden. "WHERE?" asks everyone, except Tommy, at once. "Shhh. Shhh. Shhh. Well there's one... OOPS! Not gonna tell you all. That would RUIN the fun. Wouldn't it!" Heh, heh. AND... I'm NOT gonna tell YOU either. And I'M not even going in that direction, either, when I get off the raft. I'm heading the other way. 'Cause I'm no cheater. I play by the rules. I think. I just wanted to play around with the CM... see if he'd tell me or not. That was all. So they all give me the new dirty look number 12. Which is reserved for me on TSI, only. Except for Tommy who seems oblivious as to what we're doing and why we're here. Oh well. The raft docks. And Beth and Calvin pace in front of the rope exit. The Raft Captain says, "Tom and Huck have left you a surprise. They were painting earlier today and left 5 paintbrushes around the paths and the Island. If you find one you get a special prize. Have fun!". And he opens the rope. Beth and Calvin TAKE OFF like their butts are on fire! Followed closely by the other two kids. However they paused for a second and looked at their parents when they saw our two oldest fly off the raft. They did the quick, telepathic question "Is this a go?" to their parents, first. Then took off too. So... Beth is in the lead heading down the path and seems, to me, to be heading for the Fort. Calvin is hot on her heels. He would have passed her except he wasted a few precious seconds by turning around and screaming "Move it, Promdate!" to DH. We look at each other... and then DH is off after Calvin like a racehorse. They are all headed in the direction of the Fort. I KNOW that's where two of the paintbrushes are... so I grab Tommy and head off the raft in the other direction... towards Aunt Polly's. Move it! Move it! We run up and around. I'm dragging poor little Tommy by the arm again. "Hurry up! Move it, Promdate!" Heh, heh. I wonder where Calvin got that from? DH wasn't too fond of it, though. DH is MY Promdate though. I also call him "My Beautiful Bride"... he thinks that one is funny, though. I'm thinking that I won't find a brush on the dock at Polly's so I take the path which goes either up the hill or forks to the Barrel Bridge. I take the hill and pull Tommy up it. He has NO idea why we're running around like idiots here. It's more confusing than the Voyage of the Little Mermaid to him! OHHH. OH. Boy. I gotta go. I think it's MY turn to call Ralph on the big porcelain phone. Great.
