I'm hoping to vacation in "The Hamptons" within the next year and would love opinions on the best place(s) to stay, best restaurants, shops, etc.

Thanks to all who respond! :goodvibes

East Hampton - trendy, new money
South Hampton - Lots of chic stores - old money - tv show
Hampton Bays
West Hampton - more laid back
Bridgehampton - racetrack not so trendy

I can help do you have an area preference? Personally I'm a Montauk girl.:)
I also love Greenport and Jamesport, Sag Harbor.
What are your interests? Do you want to stay at a resort an Inn or a motel?
Are you looking for great beach and quiet or crazy nightlife?
Expensive dining, gourmet or more casual?

My favorite restaurant is Harvest on Fort Pond - so delicious and beautiful outdoor dining.

I lived on Long Island for 16 years, and through my twenties. Partied in the Hamptons every weekend for about 5 summers in a row. What a blast! What a huge waste of money. If I had it to do all over again.

Sorry, it has been too long for me to even know what to recommend anymore, but it is all very expensive. VERY expensive...
