Wednesday 28th August

Not so early today, we did not leave the villa until 09:45; I think that the relentless pursuit of theme parks is getting to us – only one more day to go though and then we are off to Bradenton for a rest ;).

We had a quick stop at Walmart for antihistamine cream and arrived at Blizzard Beach at 10:20. We managed to find some sun loungers with some shade back a bit from Melt Away Bay, dumped our stuff and got changed.

First off was the wave pool, Melt Away Bay; I did not enjoy this as the waves were very frequent and I found myself having to continually jump or swim over them with no time to rest. I also found that the bottom was rough and hurt my feet.

Next we all went on Teamboat Springs; this is a wonderfully long family raft ride and went very well with all four of us in one raft! After that we had a go on Runoff Rapids, one of the open ones not the enclosed dark one; great ride but a long queue to collect your ring and then a long walk up the steps to the start.

After that we did a lap and a half of Cross Country Creek, starting by the bottom of Runoff Rapids and ending up by Melt Away Bay. There are some good bits where you get soaked on this; we particularly liked the sneezing man in the house.

Next up was lunch; I cannot remember what we had (and cannot find the receipts) but I remember that two of us went to one place and the other two to another, to buy our food.

After lunch, we had a couple of goes on the Snow Stormers; very fast rides where you sit on mats. We never managed to get on the Chairlift, as the queue was always huge so we got plenty of exercise walking up to the start of the slides.

Next we had another go on Teamboat Springs and Runoff Rapids; we chickened out of Summit Plummet and the Slush Gusher, our excuse was that the queues were too long (which was true). Next we did half a lap of Cross Country Creek, starting by the bottom of Runoff Rapids and ending up by Melt Away Bay. Finally we had a last go in Melt Away Bay, which I still did not like.

We left at 17:00 as it was starting to look as though a storm was coming. We were right as it started raining on the way back to the villa and ended up as torrential rain.

For dinner we went to the Golden Corral on SR535 near the I4 intersection; a good buffet for $44 for four of us. By the time we came out, the rain was coming down in stair-rods; we had parked close to the entrance but got absolutely soaked just getting back to the car.

We went to Downtown Disney and on to Pleasure Island; we were disappointed to find that the Adventurers Club was closed until 22:00 and it was only about 20:00. We tried the Comedy Club who took pity on us and others, as it was still pouring, and let us in early for the 20:30 show. The show was improvised comedy and very funny if a little short (I think it was only about 20 minutes). It was still raining but not quite so hard, so we went and looked at the shops on West Side which we had not seen before. I think that we spent most of our time in Magnetron and the Virgin Megastore.
We then made our way back to Pleasure Island and into the Adventurers Club at 22:00. We were ribbed for our ponchos and witnessed the Radiothon; our son had a shirt with Chinese characters on it and that also became part of the show! An excellent performance again but we were tired and had to leave at 23:00 by which time the rain had stopped.

Tomorrow: Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios (our last day in Orlando)
