I don't really want to sound uncooth(spelling?), but does anyone else leave tips for the maid service? This is my first trip to disney, but I know that in some other resorts I've stayed in various places they ask that you don't do that sort of thing. I thought maybe this would be a nice gesture or at least some neat token of appreciation would be nice. If anyone has done this please let me know and how you went about leaving it where they would find it.

Also, I was wondering about the weather and how busy the park/resort was going to be since we will be there Feb. 27-March 4 this is also an adult only trip so I was hoping to time it right so kids would be in school.

I left a dollar per person +1 each day (so if there's 2 people in the room, you'd leave $3). There are some awesome envelopes you can print and already have stuffed so that each day you just pull one out and leave it. (Note: The money must be clearly identified as for mousekeeping or they can't take it).

Sorry if this has been answered before, but what time does the food court open and close? I'm trying to decide if we're going to get the refillable mugs, but I know that we'll be leaving early and coming back late from the parks.

Also, is there a place to refill mugs after the food court closes?

Got this from Allears:

Breakfast is 6:30 am - 11 am

Lunch and Dinner are 11 am - midnight

I don't think there's a place to refill your mugs if the food court is closed, but they are open pretty long hours so I wouldn't think you'd have a problem. Have a fun trip! I love Pop Century!

Thanks for the rain info. Were not the sorta people that would call it a day if it started raining...but then I read all the talk about down pours in Sept and how it altered their plans...That's when I started wondering if we should consider what the parks do in rain. I'm not afraid of getting wet...as long as I can keep having fun it's not going to slow us down.:thumbsup2

We were there the last week of sept. 06 and it was hot and humid, but we had free dining so we didn't let the weather bother us too much. it did rain a couple times, but it was nice b/c we were at MK and we walked right on splash mountain 3 times in a row (my family's favorite ride). I think unless it is lightening rides usually continue to run. Just make the most of it is my advice. have fun :yay: We hear the weather is good in nov so that's what we are trying this year. We love the POP!!!

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what "jersey week"? I was checking events and "wonderful weeks" schedule and it said something about jersey week. Just want to get an idea of how crowded parks are going to be. I know f&w festival is still going on and mgm soap weekend, but didn't know what this other even waS.

thanks:hippie:

Just one more question. does anyone know if there are certain areas where they have connecting rooms?? I just wondered if they are only in the preferred areas or if there are some in every building. thanks :thumbsup2

I have booked the POP for Dec.14-20 in a Standard room.
When requesting building, location, etc.... what are some good ones to ask for? We have never stayed at this resort, so I am clueless to good locations. :confused3 Buses, pool, food court, etc....

Thanks,

Here's a link to Willcad's site that has maps of all the resorts including the layout of rooms for Pop Century. All buildings have connecting rooms and it looks like 1/2 of the rooms are connecting.

You may also find the link above useful. I stayed in the 50's (not preferred), lake side, top floor. I really liked it. I assume the top floor is the quietest but you may like the convenience of a lower level floor. I enjoyed the 50's musice in that area but you may like the icons from another decade. The resort is pretty compact so I don't think you'd have too long a walk to the bus stop from any room.

This is my first trip to disney world and I know I am going to sound like a horrible mother, but my children ds 4, ds 3 and dd 6 months are staying at home with their grandparents. This is our first adult only trip ever and I am very nervous about it so I wanted to make sure to send my kids some post cards while we are away and I promised a few others that I would send one to their children as well:grouphug: . Is there anywhere at the resort to send things via snail mail and I'm sure they do, but do they sell postcards in the giftshops?

They definitely sell postcards, and there is a post office drop box there too. I'm pretty certain of that (I know there was one at All Star Movies b/c I used it). However I don't know how often it is collected and processed. Something I mailed from there back to Alabama took over 7 days to arrive.

While I am so excited for you...may I ask why you couldn't take the kids? Maybe the older two and leave the youngest with the grandparents. I totally understand if its for financial reasons, but perhaps choose somewhere else to go. I am really not being judgemental here, :) I jsut think once you get there, you may wish they were with you:) And you don't sound like a horrible mother!! No one knows your circumstances, perhaps you and DH need alone time!!:)

Well this is an adult only trip because we are going with another couple and since their girls are in school they didn't want to take them out. The second reason is the dh and I have never had a honeymoon or taken any kind of trip by ourselves before so this is a first for us. Last reason is that this is my first trip ever to disney world and I wanted to experience it for myself before the kids come back hopefully this summer. I already know I am going to miss them like crazy and even get a little teary eyed when I see all the little princess and pirates there. I really wanted to send them a little package of somesort to let them know that we are thinking about them.

I hope you guys have a great time!!:) I am sorry if I got too personal, being a mom is the toughest job!! I hear POP has a great shop on premises, you are sure to find something for them there! I will be at POP March 2-5 with my daughter and mom..Just so you know, my 8 month old will be home with Daddy..( he is sooo excited to have her all to himself!!) If I took her with, I couldnt "focus" on my other daughter's b day trip! And..I am leading my 13 yr old son home, didnt want to go and do girlie things!! See....I am leaving 2 of mine at home too:)!!! Enjoy yourself!!!!

That is whats so GREAT about staying at POP no need to leave anyone at home. Thats why we go a value in the first place. We can not wait to see the look on our kids facses when they see everything for the first time.

I, too, have had that problem with mail taking a long time. Most times I've gone to WDW, I have gotten home before my postcards have! The only time it didn't happen that way was when I went for two full weeks. Try to mail some out the first or second night you're there for the best chance. I think it probably takes a little while longer because they have to go from your resort, perhaps to a central Disney locale, THEN to the post office, and then on its way wherever its going.

i think disney is something every couple should experience without the kids at least once! me and DH are going in may together for the first time and this was the one thing we wanted to do BEFORE we have kids. besides, it gives you a good excuse to go back soon....to bring the kiddies along!!!! ;)
