Is this something that seems to work for most? I just don't want to seem pushing and upset any of the Cm's, is it better to fax or just wait until you get there and ask nicely?
We stayed in the 50's last year and loved it, the youngest DS can't quit talking about the bowling pool! Would love to stay in that area again, but as I said don't want to press my luck?? Any thoughts?

That was the advice we were given and it seems to work.

Are all the rooms at Pop No smoking? I forgot to ask today when we booked. DD has asthma and can not be in a room where someone has smoked recent.

everyone i've talked to on the DIS suggests faxing a letter about 3 days before your arrival. as long as you're pleasant and not demanding, you should be fine. i've already drafted mine. have a lookie:

Disney's Pop Century Resort
Attn: Room Assigner
Date: May 2, 2007

Hello!
Our 5-year anniversary Disney vacation is fast-approaching (finally!) and I wanted to see if you could possibly accommodate our room requests for May 6-10. We would love to have the following, if possible:
-Nonsmoking room with 1 king bed.
-Lake view room in either the '70's or '80's building on the top floor (preferably in a quiet area away from the pools and elevators, if possible - we like to sleep in…as much as one can sleep in at Disney World, which obviously isn't too much!).
-We also had previously requested a refrigerator in the room for the additional $10 per night charge.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give us in making our visit wonderful! We appreciate all your hard work!

and then of course you'd put your name, reservation number and address/telephone at the bottom.

Thank-you, appreciate it. Trying to write down all the great info I get here, hoping it will make all my next Disney vacations a little easier. There is so much great advice on this board, so glad I found it, course now my DH thinks I'm addicted......:guilty: ok maybe a little..!!:surfweb:

Sorry to bug again, but my DD had a question. At POP we found the Twister game, but we had read somewhere that there was a Tic Tac Toe as well, but couldn't find it. Does anyone know about this?:confused3

My DH and I will be staying at POP in Nov. We were wondering if there are any vending machines there(like coke and diet coke) and what the price is? Also do the parks have vending machines and are they coke or pepsi? This is a great thread and a real help for us being our first trip to Disney.

There are soda and snack vending machines throughout the resort, however, they are fairly expensive (although not astronomical compared to everything else at Disney.) Maybe someone else can remember the exact price. When we were there, they were both broken, but there is one on each floor, so we just went downstairs. We were in the 70's and I *believe* the first floor had snack and soda and the second floor just had soda. Both floors had ice.

I actually don't know about the parks??? I'm not sure that I've ever seen any, but I can't say I've ever looked either

The vender machines is by the ice machines. I haven't been there for awhile but some reason $2 sticks in my mind.
Back in 1995, It was $1, because we bought some. :rotfl: I stupid thing to remember.
Maybe someone is leaving real soon can find out for you.
In the parks, I don't remember any vender machines. They have venders standing by carts selling plastic bottles of pop on corners here and there.
Sorry, I am not to helpful.

It rings a bell but for the life of me I can't remember where it is.

Hi. My family and I will be staying at the Pop Century in December. :cool1:

Which buildings are the preferred ones? We would like to request to be in the 60s or 70s, as my ds would probably like the icons there best. I just don't want to pay extra for a preferred location.

Thanks
Trentmom :santa:

Disney is all coke.

Do you know about the refillable mugs?

Tic Tac Toe is also by Twister in the 70's section, near the Potato Heads. There are soda vending machines, all coke and they are $2.50.

Thank-you, we'll be looking for it. Last year we didn't ever get to walk around the resort til dark this time I plan on looking at everything during the day, might be easier to find! Thanks again, made my DD's day!:)

MY family, DH, DD10, DD8, DD3 have a trip planned for Sept 14-23, 07. This is our second trip to WDW, but our first time to stay at POP. We are very excited. I have a question about the weather in Sept. Can anyone who may have stayed there in Sept give us any information. Thanks for any help.

We stayed at Pop in September of 2004. All I can say is that it's VERY unpredictable! The year we went was the year of a bajilion huricanes that ripped through central Florida. We actually got lucky and were there the week between 2 of the bigger ones. It was pretty overcast during much of our stay, but at least it wasn't a torrential downpour for more than 1/2 of a day. The temps are still pretty warm, but cool off at night. We wore shorts and short sleeves on all but one day, and changed to pants and long sleeved shirts at night.

We went September 2005, and it was hot hot hot! It rained only a couple of times when we were there. Only 1 day was a wash out where it rained pretty steady for most of the day, a little breezy, but nothing really bad though, We were there when hurricane Rita went through, so that was why. We are going to POP again September 14-24 this year, I think it's a great time to go! Oh yeah, it is love bug season. They are everywhere spreading their love:rotfl: :rotfl: . Hope you have a great trip!

I believe the preferred room are in the 60's building. We opted to pay the additional when we stayed there in 05'. We're also planning a trip to POP for this Sept (18-22nd):cool1: and haven't decied if we want to book a preferred room or not. I know when we stayed there last time we were all happy to be so close to the main building and busses....especially when we'd drag ourselves back from a day at the parks.

Now about the weather....I'm wondering what to excpect as well. The last time we were there was in Oct....and I can't remember a drop of rain the whole time. When it's rainy....do the parks shut down or do they run as usual? We'll be staying only 4 days...and just getting 2 day base tickets. Anyhow...I'm wondering if we wake up on a scheduled park day and it's raining...should we expect to have rides shut down....or will we have the option to go for it rain or shine?

Definitely continue with your plans if its raining! Sometimes the parks are less crowded because people will assume they can't have a good day in the rain. Some rides (Test Track for example) won't be able to run in the rain but it'll be back up ASAP when the rain stops.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but what time does the food court open and close? I'm trying to decide if we're going to get the refillable mugs, but I know that we'll be leaving early and coming back late from the parks.

Also, is there a place to refill mugs after the food court closes?
