The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

I have just read all 190 pages of this thread  . I found A LOT of info too, so I only just have a few questions..for now :lmao: .

1. Will Bell/Luggage services store my empty suitcases while we are there? I'm asking because we will be 5 of us (Me, DH, DS4, DS2, and Mystery Baby 3 months in a pack-n-play) and we are going for 2 weeks, so we will have a lot of luggage and that room is quickly going to get tiny. If we would be able to not have empty luggage in the room it would help.

2. How crowded are each of the parking lots? We will have a rental car (and will use it too), so we want a room close to Classic Hall (of course), close to a parking lot, but not a parking lot that is always full. I hope that made sense.

3. To anyone that requested a first floor room, how often did you actually get it? With my kids being so young, the upper floors make me nervous, and we will have 2 strollers all the time.

4. Do they offer the pack-n-plays with the bassinet feature? With the baby being so small still we will need that and if they don't have it we will just bring our pack-n-play from home.

5. Are the beds standard full/double size? I'm thinking that I will make a run to Costco and buy one of those foam mattress pads to make the bed softer (I'm a wimp and have other needs for a soft bed and it's worth it because we will be there for 2 weeks and since we are doing a value I can justify it, lol).

6. Is the kiddie pool heated too?

OK, More questions then I thought I had, lol.

Thanks!!!!!!!

P.S. We will be there Sept 4-18 and hope to meet some other DIS'ers

Tyler, what's going on this weekend... a convention? There seem to be no rooms Friday-Sat, we got POP for Thursday and we had to move to OKW Friday, nothing available Sat... only CBR on Sunday.

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm not in an area to find out those things :confused3

my latest invoice just came and i can't figure out what YYW stands for. here's what it says:

PACKAGE(S): POP CENTURY CLSSC - YYW
MAGIC YOUR WAY PKG & DINE

does anyone know what this is referring to?

It's your package code. Just like GA, it's an internal reference that the Pop back office would need to rebuild your reservation in the event that it did not download properly.

OK I will try my best to answer some of your ??..some I don't know.

1) I don't know, but what I would do is call the resort ask for lagguge area and ask them the ???. Also, make sure you write down names who you talk too. or maybe someone else will answer you ??.

2. There are assigned parking to different parking lots. Yes, they always seem to have a lot of cars...but not always full. It really depends what time of the year you are going. In August it was always full. Once you move your car,LOL, that space is gone. but you can find a slot.

3. There is no guarantee on request. It is just a request. When you arrive just explain to the castmember, they do try to please. If you don't get the main floor, all buildings have elevators. When my son was little it workout find.

4 The resort has a crib. not a standard, but the smaller kind. I would go on the Family board they have a lot of info there.

5 Beds are double size.

6. I am pretty sure the kid pool is heated. My son loved the kiddy pool. I don't remember it beening freezing.LOL:) Or I would not get in it.

I hope this help...or someone else can give you more info.

I just booked a girls only trip for October, my DD, a friend of hers, and I will be staying at POP. I know absolutely nothing about POP, will need to do some research. The girls are both 15, which building would anyone suggest for me to request, we are booked as a standard room?

I can't really answer your questions but I have traveled with my family of 5 many times so I thought I might make a few suggestions. My DH doesn't like to travel. The getting there is very stressful for him so I have learned to pack as light as possible to make it a bit easier. I have always only ever taken 2 checked bags for our family of 5 for up to 9 nights. I do do laundry while on vacation and don't mind doing it. At Pop the laundry facilities are at the pools. I also send a package to myself at the resort. I just put my reservation # and arrival date on the package. I mail myself diapers, wipes, pop up laundry hamper, a few extra clothes. The resort will UPS a box home to you also. I have also found that having that hamper and a shoe organizer that hangs from the closet rod helps keep the room organized. I know others on Dis also find a shoe organizer that hangs off a door helpful-they hang it on the bathroom door.

Could you use suitcases that would pack into each other? A medium bag inside a large and a few duffles?

Have a great trip! Good luck with baby #3. My #3 was the easiest and I found it much easier to go from 2 to 3 than 1 to 2.

Is it a surprise trip? If not I would have the girls look at photos of the resort and let them choose. At 15 I think any location at Pop would be fine. I really enjoyed the 50's with 50's music but they may like some other area.

I don't think it matters. Your girls will love any of them. My DD loves the whole resort. We take a walk around to enjoy the resort. Have a great time!

I totally agree, my DD(9) loved the POP along with my 2 DS (5 & 14), when we told them we were going back to Disney this spring the first place they said was let's go back to Bowling Pin pool!:)
There is so much to see there, I think your DD's will love it!!;)

Thanks for the replys so far!

Thanks for the idea to call the resort about the luggage, d'oh. I think that I will call right before I leave, since it's not anything I can change or do beforehand. Thanks for the heads up on the kiddie pool, I only ask because we were at a hotel the other night and the kiddie pool wasn't heated and it was COLD :cold: .

WOW 2 bags for a family of 5, you are super mom!!! Luckily DH doesn't mind traveling, phew. I do plan on doing laundry, probably twice since we will be there for 2 weeks, and we are not going commando at all, we are planning on a slow and relaxed pace, with lots of hotel pool time, lol. I know about the shipping packages, but honestly I am too cheap to pay to ship things, LOL, especially since we will be flying Southwest and can check 3 bags each, and we will be buying the baby a seat, and we live 3 miles from the airport and are going to send one of us with a few kids on ME so we don't really have to handle the luggage that much (which is why it's no problem to bring our pack-n-play). We will have a rental car so I'm planning on going out and buying diapers and wipes and such when we get there (we should get in around 3-4 and are not planning anything for the evening other than unwinding at the resort). We have a few pop-up hampers we use when we travel LOVE them, and I bought a over the door organizer the other day (clearance at Bed Bath & Beyond :thumbsup2 ) and I found a spify shower organizer that hooks on the shower head, same concept as the door ones, but plastic with suction cups at the corners, so instead of getting the wire ones and stuffing socks around it I have one that folds flat. Thanks for your tips and suggestions :)

Re: Kiddie pool

I think it is heated, but it is only a few inches deep, so if they air is chilly that day you will be cold.

We were there in August and the night we tried out the kiddie pool was around the time Katrina hit the FL Keys, and there was this weird cold wind that blew in, even though it was 95 that day, and I FROZE sitting in that kiddie pool. (Considering how hot it had been, you'd think that would be a good thing! LOL)

It is a very fun pool though, just a few inches deep but with jets shooting up. My littles LOVED it.

does the food court at POP have any vegetarian selections?

The Pop Food Court does have vegetarian food selections: soy burger, veggie lazagna, lo mein noodles, caesar salad, cheddar cheese omelet are the selections I can recall. I'm sure that you can call the resort ahead of time if you have particular questions or concerns. There should be a full menu listed either on this site or at allearsnet.com. Check it out and see what you can find there. Hope that helps.

I can ship UPS from my office at the corporate discount so I found it well worth the price to keep my DH calm.;)

I'll have to go check out Bed Bath & Beyond!

So...I bought my airfare this morning for my first solo trip (hoping a friend will join me but I'm going no matter what). Can't wait to stay at Pop again. Last May I didn't really spend anytime walking around the resort. I'm looking forward to that this year.:dumbo:
