When I checked in I asked where the new preferred rooms were. He said besides the 60's buildings, they were in buildings #1 Lady and #10 Big Wheel, but just the wings closest to Classic Hall.

I have a ressie for the 1st week in Dec. It's Pop Warnr week and I have room and tix package. I had asked my travel agent call Disney on Friday and add the meal plan. She was told in order to do that they have to cancel my existing ressie and redo it, not a problem but there are no rooms available to do this. So why can't they use the ressie I have and just add the meal plan. :furious:

This is not accurate. You have up until 72 hours prior to arrival to add the DDP. I don't know how this would effect your ressie if your TA booked with a code. But, they should be able to add this on for you no problem. Have your TA call again. Maybe she got a bum CM.

I'll look into this myself and see if that was the case, a cranky CM. I know nothing is availble on the website or thru the Ressie dept. for this week. So we'll see. :wave2:

Thats crazy- all they have to do is just add it to your pkg! :sad2:

Ok- but the reason I am posting is- (and I am sorry if this was already covered but I couldnt get thru all of the pages fast enough!)

I am looking at the POP map and reading about preferred bldgs- the 90's bldg looks like you need a bus to get to Classic Hall!!! :faint:

Is it REALLY as bad as it looks????! :confused3

DH are traveling with SIL and BIL and their 2 and 5 yr old-- I would hate to have to tell them we need to pay more $$ for a preferred room if its not really that bad. :guilty: If it was just DH and I, I would not care.

Most others will tell you it's not that bad, but we stayed in the 70's (which was AWESOME) and the whole time we were there I kept saying I'm glad we're not in the 90's. If you're on the end closest to Classic Hall you can always cut through the parking lot and go in front of the bus stops and in the front entrance it would be a little easier, but if you're going in the back way by the Hippie Dippy pool it's a good walk. Here is my suggestion. The preferred rooms are a waste of money at Pop unless you have someone with a disability. There are 4 other options of what you could get otherwise, and only 1 is really 'bad' (even though it's still not too bad.) I'd say play your odds, save your money, and put in a request for the 50's, 70's, or 80's. JMO :) :)

We've stayed in the 70's Big Wheel building (standard room) twice and have been very happy with the location. It's very close to Classic Hall and especially close to the buses if you walk around the back of the building. I agree, about the preferred rooms being a waste of money. Some of them are actually farther away from Classic Hall than the standard rooms. And if you are facing the main pool, it can be quite loud.

Thanks Karen and Sandy!

I just called my AAA TA and told her just note on my ressie 50-60- or 70s- I know that some parts of the bldgs are preferred but maybe they can squeeze me in 2 rooms between the preferred ones!

You know that all the rooms in both 60's buildings are preferred, right? If you want a standard room for sure, make sure you request that. There are three 50's buildings and two 70's buildings.
Here's the map from the first page of this thread.

oh my- I am such a ding dong-

OK- so I will be sure she notes STANDARD on the ressie and 50s and 70s! I dont even want 80s! My luck they will stickme facing the parking lot! :lmao:

Thanks again- I am on hold with my TA right now!

The CM said that becuase I went thru a TA they can not touch the ressie. She said another reason why I can't add the meal plan is the TA, who is a friend of mine may have added some sort of discount to my room only ressie. I can add the park tickets, but not the meal plan. Guest Services even said they can't add it. :furious: They would have to redo it from scratch. Which I am unwilling to do. Plus there is nothing open for the week i have already reserved. 12/3/06 to 12/9/06. I'll have to keep trying or wait until just before I arrive and try again if I can't sooner. :scared:

When we checked in (last Saturday) the CM put us in a room in the 90's because my 70's Big Wheel request was not in my ressie. I asked him if he could change it and he did. So glad we didn't get 90's. So if they stick you somewhere you aren't happy with, ask if they can change it. Be specific about what building you want, at check-in, or they'll just put you anywhere.

We always stay in the 90's! It looks really far on the map. But this time we stayed in the cell phone building bottom level and took now time to get there less than 5 minutes. We were so close to the computer pool we could almost touch it. We request the 90's every time plus there is a huge parking lot.

Okay, I will in fact I will make a big one on my computer! And then we get to our room I will tape it to the window. See you real soon, now only 24 more days to go!!!!!!!

My head hurts!!! LOL I am so worried that I won't pick the best building for our family. With my luck I will get the 90's building. This is all really great stuff and when I call Monday to reserve our room I will make sure to say not the 90's.

what rooms would these be?

Do you mean specific room numbers? According to the map, those two buildings are rooms 4101-4472 and 5101-5472 . Maybe someone else could help you with which specific room numbers are just at that one end???

I am REALLY sorry to be the 100th person to ask this but, can anyone tell me where I can find a list of the non-smoking buildings?
Yeah, my mistake. It's between pages 75 and 85

We were there last month and there was no sign of construction going on across the lake. It's a depressing site to see those buildings just sitting there rotting away.
For the record, they're not 'rotting away'. While there's no work being done on Legendary Years, if there were any structural problems Disney wouldn't just let the buildings sit there falling into ruins.

What I have heard from friends on the inside is that they over planned without really figuring out the budget, if you can believe that
Yeah, Disney planned a new Value resort and started construction without taking into consideration than an unexpected and devastating attack on this country might reduce tourism.

The CM said that becuase I went thru a TA they can not touch the ressie. She said another reason why I can't add the meal plan is the TA, who is a friend of mine may have added some sort of discount to my room only ressie. I can add the park tickets, but not the meal plan.
Okay, see, that's not what you said the first time:
I have a ressie for the 1st week in Dec. It's Pop Warnr week and I have room and tix package.
If you have a room-only reservation, you can also purchase tickets in conjunction with your reservation. This is different from converting your room-only reservation to an actual package - which is apparently what is not available. Just because there are rooms doesn't mean the supply of packages for a particular date or period still exists.

My head hurts!!! LOL I am so worried that I won't pick the best building for our family. With my luck I will get the 90's building. This is all really great stuff and when I call Monday to reserve our room I will make sure to say not the 90's.
With so many Guests not wanting the 90s, Disney should just consider tearing the building down.
