Sorry If this sounds dumb:confused3 but how does the swaps happen, when you do not know what room your in ubtill you get there?

Basically this is what happens if you join a swap you give the person running the swap your dates and your confirmation number for ressie and they will confirm you in the swap and at some point when your trip nears you will exchange information with the person before and after you you will have to give the person before you your ressie confirmation# and your cell phone number and your full name! If the person is still there when you arrive you will swap in person but if the person is not then the refrig and coffee pot or just refrig etc will be left in luggage services and pop they will not give claim tags for frig swaps so that is where your info comes in the person in front of you puts your ressie number and your name on it and you retrive it from luggage services if there is a problem it is always nice to have a cell number of the person before you if possible I also found out it helps to have the CM's name that the swapper before you left it with ! If you have to leave it for the person after you then you will take a piece of paper and write the next swapper's full name and ressie number on the outside of the box and leave it with luggage services cm's be sure to get the name of the CM it helps believe me! Most frig swaps like you to swap in person so it does not have to be left in storage but if it does it's not a problem! And no you do not know your room number until check in that is why your ressie number is needed and full name and numbers etcc..I hope this helps if you have any other questions ask and ill see if I can help! I was just in a frig swap in august! :thumbsup2

Well, the Walmart I know of is about 5 miles away.....according to mapquest.........from Pop you would turn left on Century Drive, right onto Victory Way, right onto E Buena Vista, then take the ramp towards the airport and merge onto Epcot Center Drive which becomes Highway 536 East. Turn right on Apopka Vineland and it's less than a mile up that street.
I believe this is one of the three Wal Marts we visited while staying at POP a few weeks ago. Be sure to take quarters with you! We ventured out late one night & got back on the ramp toward Disney only to find out it was an unmanned toll booth that accepts quarters only. I had ONE quarter. :scared1: I was sooo freaking out as the camera was flashing taking pics of us in the car!! Luckily, the first offense is free :) The second time they nail you with a $100 fine. I have never seen so many toll roads in my life :confused3 It seems like you would drive a few miles & there was another one.

I've seen a bit of discussion about this lately, so with regard to the questions about which building is closer to the buses, there are a few different factors to consider.....

Simba, I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to this. Last week was my first week back to reality after escaping the Disney way for 2 weeks!

Thank you SO much for an awesome contribution like this. I wanted to let you and everyone else know that I included a link to this posting in the "Classic Years Rooms" section under "Standard vs. Preferred" so it's an easy reference for everyone!

Kuddos to you!

Over the past week, I've also made several updates throughout Post #1, including new picture links, that I discovered during my recent stay at Pop. Any new pictures I personally contributed to Post #1 have been or will be posted to the Pop Century picture thread as well.

Thanks for writing about the toll roads! We never have any change in our car and we would have been in trouble! :scared1: It's always nice to get a heads up. Thanks!:goodvibes

Ok, so this isn't a POP question, but you all are so knowledgable I thought I'd ask this here since I posed on the dining board and haven't gotten much response.

We're going in late April so parks will be closing earlier than during busy times. I'm curious if restaurants stay open past park closing times. Specifically we want to go to Tusker House and AK will be closing at 6. So when the parks close this early, do the restaurants stay open later (I can't find a posted closing time for this restaurant). Would we be able to get a 6pm ressie @ Tusker House or something like that?

Thanks!! :cool2:

we checked in yesterday and we absolutely LOVE it here! I'll be posting a full report when I get home but so far everything has been perfect. They gave us a fridge for DS' meds (toothache the day before we left) which was really nice I was going to pay for it and when I asked how much the CM said not to worry about it. We got our request which was 60's 1st floor. We are in the back by the lake. It's very quiet over here. The food court was pretty quiet both times we were there (11:30 am and 5:00 pm) and I never saw more than a handful of people at the pool.

Oh and we also had a flyer in our room for free dining next yr.

Is there a nice place to watch the sunrise? I will almost certaily be up before the family, and I would love a nice quiet place to enjoy the sunrise!:sunny:

I'm so glad you are having a great time. Take lots and lots of pictures and take lots of notes. I look forwarding to reading about your trip and enjoying your pictures.

Nope they close too. Probably the last reservation/ADR available will be 5 or 5:30. Then they close when everyone is finished eating.

That one where you get back on and it's .75 cents (EXACT CHANGE ONLY) made me wonder too. I was thinking outloud and said "well what if you don't have .75 cents correct change" and my husband smarted off and said "well, you stop and get correct change".

Fast forward to the end of our vacation and he gets on that ramp and starts to freak out....he doesn't have change!!!! LOL Of course I broke out the leftover penny press money and loaned him some LOL :rotfl:

Still, as someone who NEVER carries money (and has, on a few occasions, forgotten and had to beg a parking attendant to let me out of a parking garage with pennies and such), it struck me as odd that they didn't have any other way to pay to get on that thing.

Hi all- great info on this thread. Thanks to all.

We are making our first trip to The Pop on Nov. 8th (myself, 11 year old DD and 13 year old DD) and their birthdays will occur during our stay.

I have a couple questions, if anyone has any answers...

I want to request a floor room, 60's section, facing the pool. Does anyone know if this is a "preferred room" section? It seems everyone says fax your requests a few days before you arrive?

Will the cake people deliver a cake to your room, if you ask? (provided you buy a cake, which I will) I should call that order in about 2 weeks before our arrival?

My kids LOVE arcades- and their arcade looks right up my kids' alley. How long will $25 last? (Because that's the limit!!) $25 each, for the stay.

Is the Pop known to be busy/crowded the beginning of November? (Nov. 8-12) I think it's a slower season, in general, right?

TIA to anyone who answers any of my questions!

Denise

Make sure you tell the Cast Member when you register that it's the girls' birthday. They'll have a button pin for them to wear. If they're wearing it, they'll get many "HBDs" in the parks!

You want to have your request on your reservation now. Then about 5 days prior, it is recommended that you fax your request as well.

As for the location of preferred rooms, there's a wonderful map in Post #1 that will show you EXACTLY where the preferred rooms are. It's under the "Classic Years' Rooms" section under "Standard vs. Preferred".

Unfortunately you'll have to pick the cake up yourself. You could always look around to see if there's a neighbor who might make a surprise delivery where you DDs answer the door. :confused3

I'm not sure how far that will go. I'm certain there are many here who can help you with that though.

That should be a fine time to be there with low volumes of people.

TIA to anyone who answers any of my questions!

Denise

Have a GREAT time!!

Ok, that is just such a cute idea! Our first trip to WDW, I "contacted" Cinderella and had her call my girls on their birthday and invite them to come visit. They were absolutely speechless and it was the best birthday present I've ever thought up, lol. My girls STILL talk about how their mom has "connections" with the right people.

I'll be at POP beginning late on the 16th....if your daughter's birthday is after that and you'll still be there, PM me, and maybe we could have my twin daughters dress in their Princess outfits (not authentic of course) and deliver your cake for you.

as for the arcade...It depends on how much time they will spend in there. My DS-7 25 doesn't even cut it for a night....We budget him about 30/day to put on the arcade card each day and we usually on play for 1/2-1 hr in the evening when it is time to wind down. They use a point/credit system and there is more then just video games in there so you may want to play as well. Also they get tickets for the games and points to redeem at the counter for "toys" regular stuff like what you get at chuck e cheese. Hope that helps.:)

Regarding the arcade there is a list in Post #1 about the prices at the arcade . You get a card out of a machine that you use $25 is a good amount to use cuz as I remember you get a lot of bonus points with it . Check post 1 for more info ! In feb I posted it on this thread and it was added to post 1 !!

I want to request a floor room, 60's section, facing the pool. Does anyone know if this is a "preferred room" section? It seems everyone says fax your requests a few days before you arrive? Definitely have your request on your original ressie then definitely fax 5 days prior it worked for me!

Will the cake people deliver a cake to your room, if you ask? (provided you buy a cake, which I will) I should call that order in about 2 weeks before our arrival? I would suggest that when you call to order ask it can't hurt i thought I read that they will deliver to the Pop Food court not positive on that though so ask it can't hurt!

My kids LOVE arcades- and their arcade looks right up my kids' alley. How long will $25 last? (Because that's the limit!!) $25 each, for the stay. Not sure here we checked it out but didnt play!

Is the Pop known to be busy/crowded the beginning of November? (Nov. 8-12) I think it's a slower season, in general, right? I would think it would be a slow time but here in Jersey it is a short week for our kids so lots of ppl go on vaca so it may be a lil busy there! they have off for the NJEA Teachers convention and lots of ppl goto Disney then! Because the kids only miss like 3 days of school as opposed to 5 or more!

TIA to anyone who answers any of my questions!

Denise

:thumbsup2 Hope these answers help you some!

The NJ teacher's convention in November is the 6th and 7th, so it shouldn't be too crowded come Sunday. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the quick replies! :thumbsup2

disneyin2008- that's sweet, thank you. but we'll be there 11/8-11/12. and my two DDs will turn 12 and 14 while we are there, so I can sneak out and bring back the cake, and just "deliver" it myself.

As for the arcade, well, I'll find out for sure when I get there. But I figure one trip, $25 each is my limit. (ok, maybe a few bucks for me, too, if they have skee-ball...)

Goofy22- my kids will miss 2 days of school, as well. But what the heck. They both get really good grades, and I can't help it if they weren't born during summer vacation... :rotfl:

Thanks again for all the quick replies- Frommers and Birnbaum can't hold a candle to this board!!
