The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

Just wanted to chime in with all you Pop enthusiasts! I love coming to this thread, it reminds me of why we picked this resort in the first place. We've stayed at Pop for the past two years, and it's starting to feel like our Disney home. We were lucky enough to get it again for free dining in September, and I know DH is just counting the days until he can buy a refillable mug and use that Slushy Coke machine! :lmao:

Anyway, I love the Pop, too, and can't wait to see DS3 enjoying all of it again. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say that its now 18 days until we have our first family holiday to pop and I can't wait.

Have found the info here to be invaluable but still trying to decide if I need to phone to ask for a certain section or just chance it!

Can't come soon enough

If you have no walking issues - then I wouldn't bother. There are shortcuts from every location, so none of the buildings are that far of a walk. I didn't make any requests last September when we went and I don't regret it. We were in building 8 - room 8335 - almost as far as you can get, but crossing the parking lot, it wasn't a bad walk at all.

When we go my Mom may be with us, so I want to keep the walking to bus stops to a minimum, but would like to avoid paying preferred. What about 60's, building 5 - lake view (or building 4 lakeview) vs. 50's Building 1 parking lot view? Building 1 is close to classic hall but it's the opposite side of Everything Pop and the bus stops. I was thinking that from the 60's building you could cut through the building to get to the bus stops.

ETA: Thanks to Ronald Duck and Buckeyegirl! Those maps, combined with my map I still have from Pop make things much easier to figure out :thumbsup2

Shamelessly bumping my question - anyone else have an opinion? :flower3:

We stayed there for the first time last year for 2 weeks and loved it!!!!! I can't think of anything negative to say. It was so much fun looking at the oversized toys, etc. I was surprised at how warm the pools were also. We went over one day and although it was breezy (October) the water was really warm and nice. Then when it started raining, we went back in the pool because it was warmer!

We just did our reservations for this Sept. for 10 days and we can't wait!

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but what are the best standard rooms to request?

Also has anyone done a split stay? Will Disney transfer your luggage for you?

Hi everyone! I'm booked to stay at POP the third week in August. I'm super excited because we haven't been to WDW in about 8 yrs. I'm trying to plan every last detail so we can enjoy our trip to the fullest. I have a question about the bus schedule that I'm sure some of you POP veterans can help me with. We plan on doing the AM EMH every day that they're scheduled. If the park opens at 8am, does the bus come at 7am? My plan is to head to the food court at 6:15am (my ds is a very slow eater) and be at the bus stop by 6:55. Will that work? How crowded will the bus stop be? Is there usually enough room on the first bus for everyone waiting? I would hate to get everyone up that early and then miss the first bus! Thanks.

I think that's pretty close. It may be 7:30. The desk can tell you the night before for sure. I've never seen a full early bus, but we've been going in Aug. and Sept., so not peak season. You will definately get there on time.

We had a 8:35 am ADR at Norway in Epcot, and we got there so early (before 8 am???) that we had to sit and wait for them to let us in. LOL
So I totally understand the having to have it all planned out.

Happy planning!

Does anyone know where the most recent air conditioning instructions are? |Also- when you first arrive in your room will it be cool? After a hot day of travel we will look forward to a cool room-

|Thanks so much, Jen;)

I have a ressie for a standard room but I am also traveling with 2 other families (standard room also) we want pool facing, ground floor, connecting rooms ( we are a grand gathering so I was told they will try to keep our rooms together or very close) my question is which area would you recommend I was thinking 50's... its important as we will be there for a long period of time 18 days and would like to be close to the laundry and food/buses etc. I know its a possiblilty it will not happen but...............cant blame me for trying:lmao:

I have a question about room requests for pop. We are a family of 5 and decided that 2 rooms at POP was the best option for us. We need connecting rooms. Our DD is autistic and not having DH right there if I need help with sensory overload I kinda need him there not only that but it gives us more room so she can have a minute to relax when needed before she gets overloaded. I told the CM on the phone the same thing. Now my question is I am thinking about calling back and asking for a room far away from the pool. I would like 3rd-4th floor with a lake view just to keep down on noise for her. Should I bother calling back? Will asking for that hurt my chances of getting connecting rooms? Thats my main want but the other is a very close second.

TIA

Hey just noticed your ticker its gorgeous:cheer2: and you will be there areound the same time as me happy planning:cheer2:

I think the buses start running 45 minutes before park opens but I know they are there if you have early breakfast ressieseven if parkmopens at 9am!Just ask at front desk and they will tell you.
As far as which room for the Disser who's Mom was coming. We had prefered rooms in 60's on 4th floor of Playdoh bldg. The other end of the floor was not preferred and those rooms were as close to elevators as we were so that would be a good bet if you look at the room map I believe on 1st page it shows the preferred rooms. Hope this helps!!

We also got connecting rooms 5 of us also!! We were on the 4th floor lakeside and it was very quiet. Poolside is definately noisier !!

Any one know about memory lane? Just wondering if they keep adding the signs each year or if they stopped at some point?

I would definitely call back and make all the requests you would prefer on the ressie with your dd being autistic you should be more likely to get your request. Do you also know about getting the GAC card from Guest services at the park so you do not have to wait in lines you can take upto 5 people w/you? MY nephew is Autistic also and we got the GAC card when they came with us worked very well since you pretty much goto the front of the line w/ min waiting! Since he does not like noises or staying still ! The rest of us went in the reg line and they walked around until we were done.

It was cold when we arrived (and we drove, so we were very happy about it.)
As I said earlier, the AC never turned off, and was sooooo cold when we got back from the parks, we had to adjust it warmer for sleeping.
Maybe someone else has the instructions, though, just in case. :)

Grand Gatherings was so awesome for us. We had 4 rooms next to each other, my dh and I and kids in connecting, on the parking lot side of Lady.
If you request pool side, 50s, you might get the side by the Jukebox, which is nice also.
Decide which part is your priority, like all the rooms together, and make that your first priority, and then go down the list from there. We have been in the 50s both times and loved it.

Go ahead and make your other requests, but tell them that connecting and quiet, for MEDICAL reasons, are your first priorities. That way they will put you in connecting somewhere quiet, even if they don't have 3rd floor lake facing.

:dance3: WOW. I'M new on the Disboard and you really out did yourself on this. I think that this is great. You are answering everyones question about the resort. This is my favorit resort and it great to see that someone else knows this place just as much as my DH and I. Thank you for doing this.:yay: :thumbsup2

As of right now, no one has figured out pops a/c controls. It is different than all the other resorts.

lionsmom
buses always run at least one hour before the park opens, so if it is open at 8 they will be running by 7 for sure.

We will be staying at POP in June and I just called to put in a room request for our Grand Gathering. We're getting standard rooms, but I asked for Bldg. #4 lakeside so that it would be quieter, we'd be close to the hippy pool & wading pool (and sort of near the pop jets), and (hopefully) we could see some of Illuminations from there. The woman I talked to, however, said that this section would be preferred, but she'd put in the request anyway. What do you suppose that means? I was looking at the map and it didn't look like those were preferred, but no matter what I said, she disagreed. Am I missing something? I was also hoping for one of the upper floors, but she seemed to think I was pushing it by asking for what I did. Are we supposed to keep our requests as broad as possible (such as only asking for building #4)? Should I call to double check what we requested?

I would call back and get a different CM and be sure your request were put in. That one sounds like she had no clue or was having a bad day.
