You can pin trade with CMs at Pop. They also have pins and accessories for sale in everything Pop.

Wooooooooohooooooooo!!! Booked Aug. 12-16 for a little before cruise magic. This will be my first stay at Pop. Last year we booked Pop, but were upgraded to SSR during free dining. I LOVED the upgrade, but am really anxious to stay at Pop. Thank you to everyone for all the great info.
The maps make it look like all rooms are close to parking lots, is this the case? I hate to have a long walk from the car to the room after a marathon day in the parks. I don't mind a long walk to the hall, and pool, but that late night sleep march is tough.
Thanks again!

I think the 60's would be the farthest from the parking lot.

If this is the most important thing to you, I'd request close to the parking lot. Seriously. We were in the back building of the 70s (bldg 6) and it was a long walk to the parking lot. Longer than to classic hall, it seemed. You have to go on the paths. The 60s would also be far.

If you just ask for a certain section, you could still be far from the lot. Check the map and ask for a specific building, and/or close to parking.

Just grabbed reservations today for 4/23-4/25. planning to do the P & P Party the 23rd and Epcot the 24th.

Been trying for days with no availability but was able to get preferred section today. I was thinking about requesting the 50's section.

You may have already thought of this, but just in case - don't forget to take your photos with your birth year signs. I finally remembered to take the time to walk the path and look for ours last trip, but then realized I left the camera behind. :rolleyes1

What year do the birth signs go up to? I know the last building is the 90's, but my youngest DS was born 2000!:confused3

I would like to know this also, my daughter was also born in 2000.

Sorry to interupt the discussion. I was listening to some back podcast segments. On the Feb 5, 2008 discussion, Corey Martin gives some great info about Pop Century. It's about 45 minutes into the discussion. He also does the All-Stars.

My DD7 picked Pop Century for our visit next January and she really enjoyed hearing the pool info.

I stayed at Pop over spring break. It was my first Value experience, and I went in with low expectations only because I figured crowds would be horrendous!

Pop was awesome! Would I stay there again? Definitely if I couldn't afford to go Moderate (during Spring Break, the rates at Pop were rivaling those of a moderate during normal season :rolleyes) It was a lot of fun to check out all the cool things that they have at Pop like the shadowboxes in the lobby and the giant playdoh can that was next to our room! Like I said, i still prefer moderate because we do spend a lot of time at the hotel and I appreciate the nicer pools and relaxed themes, but this is a great resort also.

I did run into an issue but I was very happy at the way it was handled. I had called the day before arriving to pay off the room and gave a credit card to even put on the room, but when I arrived the guy checking me in said it showed I had a balance left. After explaining the situation, he tried to get the managers attention behind him, but the manager paid no attention to him except to look up and mumble something. He said since they were shwoing a balance we obviously had one. I forked over my credit card hoping I wouldn't have to deal with this later on. The guy who checked us in was very good. He assigned us to the 70s but I was hoping for a 60s room since we payed preferred and I just envisioned that nice courtyard area (I know the 70s is preferred but it was worth a try to ask) so I asked him, and without hesitation he looked and found a room in the 60s at peak season during spring break! I was very happy because I've had less than stellar check in experiences and really really really really bad luck with good rooms at these resorts! In the end, 2 days after my return I got an email from Discover stating that money had been refunded by a merchant, and whaddya know? It was Disney! I don't blame anyone but the computer systems, obviously it just hadn't been posted yet.

A few things I took notice too:

1) Crowds and buses? Not a problem! I didn't like how they have the bus stations set up like a ride line, but we had great bus timing and although we had to stand practically every time, we never had to wait for a second bus. Even mid-day at MGM, we walked up as a bus pulled out and not 5 minutes later another one came and got us, and it was only us and this one other family. Noise and crowds were non-existant. I went to the food court each morning, never waited on a line.

2) Mousekeeping: When we arrived we had a really cute easter bunny towel animal and I thought for sure we were finally going to get to stay a hotel that does the towel animal thing every day! Charlie even wanted to buy a stuffed animal just to have them mess with it...good thing he didn't because it was a one time only thing and we did tip each day. Rooms were clean though so I guess thats all you can ask for.

3) Room decorations. I've never seen so many people get into their rooms at a resort! We saw several windows with Easter clings attached to the windows I thought that was so cute!

Misc: One morning at around 7:45 i walked to the food court from the room and passed the pool and I guess they were cleaning it but the smell of the bleach and chlorine gave me such a headache and it was nauseating! Nothing they could help but maybe they could start earlier? I noticed a lot of people not liking the smell

Pics coming up next post, hope I helped anyone!

Hi!!! I just wanted to say what an awesome and helpful thread this is! My DH and I just booked our trip to WDW for this September. We will be at Pop for 9 nights. We are super excited! We have only stayed on-property once before, at the Poly for our wedding and honeymoon this past December. I hope to try every Disney resort at least once, and I knew Pop had to be the first value we tried! It's just so cute! I can't wait to swim in the hippy dippy pool! :hippie:

The signs go from 1950 to 1999. It is a great idea to take a picture of the sign and the person by their birth year.

I can see why that happened. I have heard it takes up to 3 days for any payment to show up on Disney records. So the day before would definately not show up.

I loved how they had a line que for the buses. I was told that alot of other resorts don't and then you have the problem with people cutting. I thought some of our bus waits were a bit long at times, but most of the time things went well. Had a long wiat at AK, with at least 1/2 hour wait, and DTD, one was pulling away as I walked up and then waite 40 minutes til lthe next came. I was getting VERY impatient! LOL! But still it's not to bad, and we don't have to drive anywhere.

Mouse keeping doesn't have to leave towel animals, and I think alot depends who you have and how busy it is. My first trip last year, we only got one on arriving day and that was it. This year we got a least one every day, and sometimes more. We tipped as wel lboth times, but that doesn't influence if you get them or not. Lots of non tippers get them and lots of tippers don't.

Love your pictures. I can see my room in the one with baloo. I took almost an identical picture myself. My room was first floor 2 windows to the right of Baloo, right under the yellow daisy. I wish I was still in it! LOL!
Be sure to post your pics on the pop picture thread!
