EpcotBill, do you make any room requests?

If so do you add them to your reservation ahead of time, and then make sure they are honored when you check in? Or do you wait to make your requests in person?

I ask because the last two times at Pop I added requests to my reservation, checked in online, and both times the requests were honored. With the changes to the reservation system, however, I've been wondering about checking in online or not for our next trip in August. If you have success with room requests and not using online check-in, I may do that this time.

I do make requests when I make the reservation. I keep them simple, bldg 1, 4th flr. When they see it's me they look at the map and try to figure what is the complete opposite of what he wants. Ah, bldg 8, 1st flr, bwahahaha. When I check in I ask if they can find something closer to what I requested. Sometimes I get what I originally asked for sometimes not. The last time I got exactly what I wanted was about 5 years ago when I faxed it in.

Yes, you can call back and add requests to your reservation, say a section (50's) or a specific building and floor.

This year the 50s, 60s, and 70s all have standard rooms that are just steps away from preferred rooms. (Next year the Pop room designations are changing to preferred, preferred pool view, standard, and standard pool view. I don't think anyone has figured out that new map yet.)

For standard rooms I like 50s buildings 1 and 3.

The only reason I did it as a GG was to get the rooms together. I know it's not guaranteed but they say that's the best way to accomplish that feat. We also requested building 1. I can't even imagine how they're going to mess with this or what my reaction will be when they have us scattered around the resort. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We really enjoyed our Grand Gathering in June. We had 5 rooms right next to each other in Building 6. It was a great location. Hopefully they can accommodate your request. We requested being near each other but didn't specify any building or section and we were really happy with our rooms.

Good luck. Hopefully they won't mess it to bad. I try to keep my request simple also. But this year we have a room only before our package starts. There is alot of notes on my reservation to connect the reservations together. So sho knows where we will end up.

I know this wasn't addressed to me, so I hope you don't mind me chiming in. This year, so far we have stayed at CSR in March and POP in May. Both times we got our requests. I used online check-in both times. In March, our room wasn't ready for a few hours after we checked in. In May, it was ready right away, and exactly what I asked for. 1st floor of 70's building.

Murphy's law has gotten me a few times too. Dec '10 I had a preferred room, asked for 1st floor at All Star Movies and I was as far back as I could be on the 4th floor. We could see the Herbie car when walking to our room.

Sure, just call your travel agent or Disney reservations and have them add your special request.

I need a lesson. LOL Pm me how please? Monday I will get them on there if I can figure it out. I"m sure it is easy. All my photo's are in photobucket. So OT for this thread. But I want to purchase a new point and shoot. I have a sony Cybershot now. I was looking into the sony tx9. But if anyone has any recomendations please pm me. I would like something not over 200.00. I would prefer a private message so I don't clog this thread with something OT.

I have all mine posted that are edited. Sadly we only stayed at pop 1 night this past trip, so I have uploaded everything I have edited so far. I have a few more to get to yet. But I will be touring pop in August as well, so I'll have more then.

Ok I have a quick question. My wife and I are flying down and using DME to get to POP. The third in our party is driving from Alabama. I am pretty sure we are going to get there before him, but not entirely. Will he be able to get past the gate on the property? If so, how does this system work? Thanks in advance.

Yes, he just needs to give the name that the reservation is under.

we had a reservation booked through a travel agent two years ago. the agent did not send us the paper work on time and we had a very hard time getting past the gate. the guard was not pleased we could not show him something.
i find that whole system odd because anyone can get on a bus from any park or dtd and just ride on through the gate, no questions asked but just try and get through in a car......

REally. We always drive and never once had to show papers...just our Id's occasionally. But you could even go there and just say you are toruing the resort or going for lunch.
