We just got back from a week at Pop Century and here are the things I noticed.

2. We did NOT get the room we requested, I got one I ended up liking much more:rotfl2: We were in room 3116. It was on the back side of the 50's building overlooking the lake. It was so peaceful and had an amazing view of the lake. The little bunnies and ducks wandered around outside our room. It could not have been more relaxing. For anyone considering a honeymoon/couples retreat I would recommend a room overlooking the lake with a King sized bed.

You must have been there the same time as me. I got the 50's buildings as well - 3235 I believe, I had orange candy corn lights in the window with a big dracula and mickey heads. :) I enjoyed the lake and ducks too while I enjoyed my morning coffee and cig. It was very peaceful. One of the groundsman I was talking to was very kind and while I was gazing at the Legendary years he said every year it was to be completed. I did ask him about DVC being there as was a rumor I heard and he said he didn't know and winked at me. I wonder if it's true?

I agree with everything you said - the hooks :thumbsup2, my son making a comment about the commode suction (wow I think were his words), the foodcourt off hours, etc....

Sounds like you had a great time! We did too and plan on going again. :)

.

1. This time we used a shower curtain (from the dollar store) and two command hooks to provide privacy in the vanity area. We put up the hooks a few inches away from the frame of the doorway into the vanity area. With this configuration we didn't have any gaps between the frame and curtain as we have had in the past with a tension rod. My very modest son appreciated this a lot.

Did you bring one or two shower curtains and where do you get the command hooks??

I have a question about the internet service at the Pop.
Next year I am taking my 2 daughter's who are in college and will have to have there laptops for school work.
They both have wireless, but I just don't understand about all this internet service for them.
Could some one please tell me how all this works so I can let them know. I do understand that they will have to pay 10.00 a day for it, but how will they get to use it. Do we have to get with a internet company in Orlando and pay them also for service? And what are the dial up numbers they can use?
Please help
thank you
Penni

OK, So when you get to your room in the closet usually hanging on a hanger there should be a small tanish color pouch with a usb cable in it. Then over where the table and chairs are in the wall is a usb cable port you plug into and hook up to your computer. Once that is done it's a yellow and red and white disney screen it will take you through step by step very easy. It automatically dials out locally. Also you must have charging priviledges on your room key to be able to use the internet as there is a code that prints on your room key w charging priviledges that you will need to enter to be able to purchase the internet as that is how they know where to charge it to. I hope this helps we used it in August.:)

We just got back from Pop yesterday and it was wonderful! I miss the juice and the frozen cokes for the refillable mugs. But, they still had hot cocoa, which my son was thrilled with (yes, even on those 95 degree days).

I was so pleased that my room was always nice and cool when we got back from the parks. I had read something about a motion sensor thermostat and I was worried that it would be hot when we got back. But, it wasn't an issue.

I was in room 9137 and it was the PERFECT location. We were very close to the buses- we couldn't have been much closer. Classic Hall was pretty close, too. I was glad that we got such a great location without paying for a preferred room. I've always paid for a preferred room before and the room location was never any better than this one.

I have to agree with the person who mentioned the ECVs with their entourages. I completely understand the need for people to use ECVs and I understand why it takes up more room on the bus. I have no problem with that. I don't really understand why they are put in the front of the line when there are 3 buses worth of people waiting to board. Several times, we were waiting through several buses and thought we'd get on the next one when an ECV with quite a few people would pull up at the last minute, and we'd have to wait for the next bus. I in no way blame the people on the ECVs. I even understand why they'd want to keep their whole group together. I just wish that Disney had a more efficient process in which to get the ECVs to their destination.
Hi Heather! I believe I saw your stroller (with your LGMH) in DHS on Wednesday near TSM. We stayed at POP too in the 70's section. I hope you had a great time!!:goodvibes

Thank you for all the help, I will pass this on to my daughters, But I will not pay for it, they will have to. I think is is crazy to use the computer when you are vacation, so they will have to give me the money before we leave LOL

They charge you for each 24 hour period so if you plan you can get 2 days use out of one fee. For example, if you log on at 9PM Monday, you get 24 hours, so til 9PM Tuesday. If you log back on at 6PM Tuesday, you do not have to pay again if you are done before 9PM. You (they) could save half the cost with some planning. I saw this on the DIS but of course, not before our last trip LOL. Next time!

I have a favor to ask all of you POPers. We were at POP Sept 13-21. We had a great time! However my family is having a little debate that I am hoping someone out there can help us resolve. We were in the 50's building ground floor. We had a connecting room one handicaped king and a regular double. The debate comes in to play about the mattress frames on the double beds. ( I know but in my family everyone has to be right!) The double beds did not have a full frame rather little metal tabs that look kinda like half circles. My kids and Husband say the tabs were covered with plastic caps. My mom and I do not remember seeing the plastic just the metal tabs. We are hoping someone either has a photo of the bed frame or if you are heading to POP could get some pictures for us. You really don't know how gratfull we would be. And I promise if my kids husband are right I will let them revel in their victiry!

Is there a fridge Swap for POP anymore? If so, could someone point the way?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

After 3 days i've finally caught up with the whole thread popcorn::

I just booked for January 3rd for 3 nights solo trip and im trying to decide where the best place for me to request is going to be. I've got the fact that all the building offer fairly good walking distance times but i'm starting to wonder about safety. I know it's Disney but I am a 22 year old femle travelling alone..the thought of walking through a dark parking lot or really quiet buildings near the back of the resort late at night kind of worry me...What would you recommend??

TIA :lovestruc

PrincessBelle,

I feel very safe at Disney. I have no problem when our 19 year old is out and about at Pop, even late at night, and I can be a bit of a worry wart.

You will have a great trip.

Thanks!! That makes me feel better especially coming from a mom

I am, female and have just returned from 10 days at the Pop with my 6 year old son and we stayed in a quiet area at the back of the 50's section and never once did I feel unsafe.

We walked around the resort very early in the morning some days and in the wee small hours on others, especially coming back from MNSSHP and a midnight run at Epcot, went swimming very late at night a few times and I even left my sleeping son locked in the room one night at midnight for a few minutes to put in a load of laundry, and then left him again 30 mins later to pick it all up and never at any time at all felt unsafe.

I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Seriously? You are going alone? Are you meeting friends, or just doing this for yourself? I think you might be my new hero! :cheer2: I would NEVER have the courage to go on vacation alone....especially not when I was in my 20's. You Rock!! I hope you have a great time!!!
Oh, and I feel pretty safe @ Pop too!

Yup it's just me!! I did it for the first time back in April and LOVED it! It's so nice to have some "me" time and go on my own schedule ..very liberating..im very lucky though to have a DFi who get's my wierd obsession with Disney combined with my need to have a few days to myself now and again ...don't get me wrong though I will be dragging him with me for our honeymoon in Sept...whether he like it or not (he's a Disney virgin :scared1:)

I agree completely! As a divorced guy I found myself saying "When I get married again I want to go back to Disney World." When I realized what I was saying I booked a week long solo trip. When I got back from that I booked a land/sea trip for about 9 months later. I loved it!! I'm married again and have taken my bride to WDW twice and we have a trip planned for this coming January. I enjoy introducing her to WDW and am delighted to have her as the love of my life. But those solo trips to WDW will stand as land marks in my travels. I did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to and demonstrated to myself that I could be comfortable in my own company. If you ever get the chance to go solo ... just do it!
