Since you all were so helpful with my luggage services questions, here's another one for you! We have a bunch of family who live in Orlando, and are trying to make a time to visit with them. The thing that works out easiest is having them come to the resort to visit, since we don't have a car there, and they don't want to get park tickets. We could do DTD together, but thought this would offer better chat time. My question is, can we all hang out at the pool together? They wouldn't swim, just sit around down there with us while my kids swim, and maybe they'd bring pizzas or something to eat. Is this allowed? Can they just park in the lots like anyone else? Thanks!

We had friends, that live there, visit us last year at Pop. They told the guard at the gate they were visiting us, in room # and adults sat by the pool and their kids swam with ours( I did ask if this was ok at the front desk) no problem at all. They parked in the lot but not in a space closest to the buildings to leave those spaces for guest staying at Pop with cars.

I have friends that live in Orlando and they come and see us at the resort everytime we are there. We also will not have a car for this trip and they will be coming by one day as they usually do when we are at the pool area. They also do not swim we just sit around and talk. No one has ever said anything to us. They have never brought any food with them. But I don't see why that would be a problem. I am not really sure what they tell the person at the gate when they come in. But they can park in the parking lot just like everyone eles. Hope this helps!

Oh, OK! Didn't know that! So....do you call the main POP number? And what, just ask for a certain request/room/location? Do you do this ten days out or less? We arrive on a Thursday about 11:30....doubt it would be too busy so not sure if the check in on lline is worth it or not.

I called the main Disney reservation number from my confirmation. You can do it any time, some people do it when they make the reservation. You just tell them you want to add a room request to your res, then tell them what you want (i.e. certain building, or ground floor, or near elevator, or whatever your want). I read that the fewer restrictions, the more likely you are to get what you ask for. Supposedly they assign the room like 4 days out, from what I have read on different threads here, so you definitely want it on there before then. I would do it now, one less thing to worry about. It is tough to tell about whether or not it will be busy when you check in. But one time I had to wait 45 minutes in line to check in at POR around 6pm on a Wednesday so I will pick the online anytime!

Thanks Carol for your help! I will call POP & request to be in the building we wanted. As for online check in, is there than a separate desk to get your paperwork & keys when you arrive than? Can you still tie in your MC to your room key when doing online check-in?

It's just been my experience that the biggest wait times occur when there is human error attached!! POR was a nightmare at check in one year because the CM was new (I think) & did not process the paperwork correctly (forgot to attach the MC to the room key); did not get the room key to work properly (could not unlock hotel door!); & the best....when entering a park for the first time, everyone's key worked to enter, except mine....:rolleyes1 Huge waste of time for us!

So, when I think online check-in, I think, "Is this REALLY going to save time?" or not?

I know I read this somewhere before and can't find it.. I promise this will be my last question before I leave today!!! Few more hours of work and we will be heading to Seattle for our early morning flight.

Is there someone at POP that you can goto that will check you in online and print off your boarding passes? if so what do I need?

thanks you guys have been the greatest!!

There is a separate line for online check ins...and I can only speak from my experience but the on-line check in was quick and easy when we did it two weeks ago. You can add charging privledges for you room key/card when you check in on-line :surfweb:

Yes. Someone at the front desk should be able to print them for you. You can also go to guest relations at any of the parks and they will do it for you. We went to guest relations at Epcot and they printed ours. The girl there was extremely nice.

Have fun!

Hello everyone!! I was wondering if anyone know how big the refrigerator is that you can rent from pop or does anyone have a pic?
thanks

thanks

When we were there in March we had requested a fridge (medical reasons), it was as big as a "dorm" fridge.

Just booked the Pop for April 2010!!!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay::jumping1:

Now I need some advice from you guys... I have yet to do our room requests. I was thinking either the 50s or 70s buildings. We booked just the standard room with a request for a fridge. Last time we stayed here, we ended up in the 90s at the farthest possible room away from EVERYTHING. It was quite the trek each time we got off the bus or wanted to visit the store. Never again! We'll be prepared this time with some room requests. Hopefully they can give us at least one request - that is building location. Anywho, I'll quite rambling and hope to hear some suggestions! Thank you!!! :flower3:

I'm stressing over a room request myself. We booked preferred, which rooms, buildings are closest to bus stops, food court?

Well the adr's are booked, the flights are booked and MNSSHP is booked.....now I can countdown and relax. Im even going to do online check in:thumbsup2. This is my first stay at a value and by the sounds of this thread I made a fantastic choice:goodvibes

We just came back on 8/27. I found my new favorite resort. I have to say that the staff at POP is the best. I am going back next year and will stay there again. The kids loved it, especially the Goofy pop-up fountain. Room was ready when we arrived. We did the online check in. Everything went smoothly. You can't beat it!

 If you want to be close to the food court and bus, with a preferred location booked you will already be close - might want to request 70's or 60's to be closest. Nothing is a long walk at POP, especially with a preferred room.

We choose not to book preferred because we've never had more than a short walk from the farthest room.

You'll be fine - not to worry! Have a GREAT trip!! :goodvibes

Here is a map with preferred locations hi-lighted:

Ask for the 50's by the bowling pin pool, you will be very close and love it!:thumbsup2

With all these great comments about staying at the POP, i think i will confirm my reservation there... i was contemplating POP or Yacht Club.

Thanks!!! You've been gr8 and put my mind at ease.

:cool1:

Wow, just looked at my ticker and realized that I have hit double digits! 93 days and counting. We've never stayed at Pop and are really excited. I was kinda nervous because the last place we stayed at was the one BR Savannah view at AKV. That was MIL's first trip and she is returning with the kids and I this time. I told her we wouldn't have all the room, washer & dryer, big bathtub we did last time and she said that was so okay. She said she really liked the idea of all of us being in the same room. I have stayed at ASMo and AS Sports and those were fine. Plus I have stayed at POR and did NOT think the extra cost was worth it.

Anyway, ready for Dec 1 :goodvibes

Just in case you do not already know, calls do not go to the resort (even from your room when at the resort), but to a call center. They do not connect to the resort, but will take your requests and add them to your reservation exactly the same as if you call the regular reservations number.

Your fax will go to the resort. :thumbsup2

Have a great trip!! :goodvibes

Oh, I did not know that! Thanks! So, I'm just calling the main reservation line than & not the hotel line, right?

Also, does anyone know if the bus stop has any cover? Not a big deal, just wondering if I'm out in the elements or not!

I can't believe that two weeks from today we will be checking into POP. It still doesn't seem real that we are going.
