At the pedeals bar by the pool, can you get those drinks non-alcholic? and do they charge you a reduced rate. I do not drink and never actually sat by that pool:sad2: so I think It would be fun to have them while we MAKE TIME to be at the pool! even If they are totatl over priced, hay we are vaction right:rotfl2:

Hi! I have enjoyed reading the thread in anticipation of our stay at Pop in June. The last couple of days I have been studying the maps and I could use some help making our room request.

We would like:
1. An Epcot/Fireworks view,
2. A room not terribly far from the food court, and
3. To be not terribly far from the parking lot (we are driving).

I booked a preferred room and requested an Epcot/Fireworks view on our reservation, but based on the maps I am looking at, I am not seeing how both will possible.

Any ideas on which building to request? We are willing to drop the "Preferred" if it will mean getting the Epcot/Fireworks view.

Thanks so much,
Jennifer

Most of the Epcot fireworks are shot low down (close to the water). You have a better chance of seeing the MK fireworks. Backsode of the 50s jukebox.

I heard the new rooms at pop century have flat screens. does anybody have pictures?

Most of the rooms in buildings 2&3 that face the lake have a good view of the fireworks. The higher the floor the better. The lower fireworks are not visible, but there are quite a few high ones. Expect to hear the fireworks at night from the 50's even if you are in the room.

"virgin" drinks are usually a buck cheaper then the alcohic variety.

I'd be curious to hear your replies to this.

Hi, this is my first time ever posting on these boards so forgive me if I've made any mistakes. My family stayed at Pop for the second time Feb 13-20 2010. We stayed in connecting rooms #6118 and #6119. The rooms were newly refurbished. We liked the look of the new decor and appreciated the convenience of the curtain separating the vanity area from the sleeping area. The flat screen tvs are great but the new dressers have less room for storage. The new beds are quite firm but not uncomfortable in my opinion. I did not like the bedspreads though. They were incredibly heavy and stiff, and because they were so bulky they would block the nightable drawer from closing or trip people if they were folded back. I was trying to post a link to some pictures that I took but it seems that new members are unable to post pictures or links on DIS boards. Sorry, I'll try later.

I read somewhere that they put shelves over in the sink area....is this true? We will be turning our vanity into kitchen central for our trip! Im thinking of bringing some of the tall TV trays to use as makeshift shelves for dishes and stuff.....yes, Im "That" girl....I use the vanity sink for dishes!!!!!

:welcome:

Pyrate Pryncess- There were no new shelves over the sink area when we were there. There was only a narrow shelf running along the bottom of the mirror which would hold toiletries, makeupbag etc but not much more. It will be tight to set up a kitchen in that area but you'll probably find a way.

Can you bring alcoholic nips in your carry on if they are in your quart size ziploc baggie?

Assuming they are under 100ml, the TSA allows it, although individual airlines may not.

You absolutely can not drink them on the plane, though. If you get caught, they will confiscate it.

Thank you for the welcome! The older dressers (pictured in Post #1 on this thread) had 3 large drawers, 3 small drawers and 3 shelves. The new ones have 3 large drawers, 2 shelves and 2 little cubbies. Also, if you rent a fridge, I think they install it in the shelf space leaving you with only the drawers and cubbies.

Just booked my trip online (FINALLY!) We are so psyched for Pop!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Arriving to Disney June 26th baby!

Amen to the heavy bedspreads. :rotfl: Those suckers must weigh a ton!!! Altho midway during our stay, I came in the room, tossed my empty refillable mug down with other stuff on the bed, went to take a shower, & when I came out I realized the mug hadn't been completely empty...:rolleyes1. Big round wet brownish circle in middle of spread, soaked thru blankie & sheet. But not the mattress pad, lol. Thankfully we had brought an xtra blanket for the drive down so I stripped the bed & used that for the night. Next day fresh spread was put on & it was not heavy at all so maybe they are heavy til laundered

Here is a pic of the spread: (before accident)

Oh, someone asked about a room close to parking????? Keep in mind that even tho some people drive to WDW, they park their vehicle, use Disney transportation & of course they take the closest parking spots to their bldg. We asked 2 times to be close to parking & even tho we were close to the parking area we saw the same big ole vans & cars that were never moved to our knowledge. Just saying............
