I'm thinking of requesting a "quiet" room for our labor day trip. Any guesses on where we'd wind up, if that's all I request. Or, should I request a particular section or just let the fate g-ds decide? What do you think? PS how are the mattresses???

We just got back and had two different rooms while we there. One was in the 90's on the first floor and that was more noisy. We were facing the parking lot, but you would hear luggage rolling, people or kids running.

The second room was in the 80's on the third floor. It was quiter. Not sure why, must have been because there was only one floor above us.

From the two rooms we where in, I can say you still here the people right around you. Its not as bad as I thought, I was always able to sleep. But it is weird to hear someone peeing in their bathroom and then flushing. Can't say i have ever heard that in a hotel room before. We chuckled. We love Pop and that really isn't that big of a deal. You are so tired from the parks, that you fall asleep. If there were screaming children all night that could keep you up Im sure but that never happened with us.

As for the beds, I hear they are new. But I think they are really bad. If there is something you can bring to put on top of the mattress so that when you lie down you don't feel all the springs, I would bring it. It will help you sleep better. Yes I do have a really bad back, but my husband didn't and he woke up with pain and being stiff, which he never does.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

I'm thrilled that you had a great time, Geeg, and it was worth the flight across the pond!

I thought we have had a few reports that the smoking area on the backside of Classic Hall that was up against the building had been eliminated. That's not to say that repeat visitors may not have noticed that it's no longer a designated location, but I wanted to ask all of you coming back for clarity around that. If it *IS* still officially a smoking spot, then I'll modify Post #1.

Thanks Buckeye - I'd certainly recommend Pop Century to anyone who considered it.

It certainly appeared to be official. It is sectioned off buy potting plants - and there are ash trays. There were usually a large number of people sitting there smoking - not just one or two, so I would assume they would have been moved on if it wasn't official.

Just called and confirmed my reservations today!!! totally excited. Cant wait to stay at pop I've herd lots of good things about the place!:yay:

Thank you for the reply. maybe I will request, Lakeside near parking? Since we will have a car. I took my kids to WDW in Jan. but I can't wait to get back:rotfl:! My sis lives out of state, so I talked her into visiting with me there! I think I am driving her crazy as she is not into the planning details, like me :confused3? We go in Sept. so last night I looked up hurricane historical data for that time of year. I hope we get lucky weatherwise. Hey anyone stayed at POP during a hurricane - what was it like?

When we went last year, we stayed in the 50's Jukebox building (#2), 4th floor, lakeview but could just walk a few feet and see the fireworks at Epcot. We were pretty close to parking but did have a little further walk to Classic Hall for mug filling and bus catching(when we weren't driving our own vehicle). Definitely check out the Pop Century property map in post #1.

Unfortunately this isn't a formula that can be requested. All parking is at the front of the property, and the lake is at the back of the property. You may want to check out the propery map in Post #1 to give you an idea of the layout and distance.

The one against Classic Hall is still there, but the one in front of Petals Pool bar is gone. There used to be two really close basically, now it's just the one.

I have a hirrid back too and all my stays I have never had a problem with the mattresses. I must get lucky. I have heard mixed reviews. But I so far...knock on wood, have loved them. I'm one who usually wil bring an airmatress along to sleep on rather than a hotel bed. LOL!

Also I have never had the noise problem of rooms around me. I know people say the here things in the bathroom, but I never hav e, other than an occasional flush. I've been in 60's and 70's, 1st ffloor, so maybe it depends on where you stay?

jenseib, the air matriss is a good idea. That way it doesn't matter what the bed is like.:) Im glad you have never had a problem, thats good. I really do love Pop, its a fun hotel.

Thanks for the clarification!!

Indeed ash trays sound like permission to me! I do remember you mentioning Petals, now I think about it, Jen. Funny how I got this visual in my head and "ran with it" instead of really paying close attention to what you said.

I figured I would ask the POP experts about this. Can you charge to your room? If we are in the parks and purchase something, can we charge it to our room at POP? If we can what is the limit? I thought I read that you can but I just wanted to make sure before our trip. TIA!!!

You sure can....you'll get your "key to the world" card when you check in that is your key for your room, tickets to the park and your charge card (IF you attach a credit card to it when you check in) and then you just use that one card your whole vacation. Not sure what the limit is, but I seem to remember that you start with $500 and you have to add on later, if you need/want to. FYI, you can also purchase things at the gift shops in the parks and have it sent to your room so you don't have to carry it with you! Hope this helps and have a great trip!!:wizard:

Room charge limit is $500 at values, $1000 at mods (not sure at Deluxes). You can reset your limit when you return to the resort, go to the desk and give them a CC to charge it to (or pay in cash if you like). They will reset it to $500 again.

CERTAINLY!!! When you check in, the CM will ask what credit card you would like to use for charging privilages. Then your room key or KTTW card, will be activated for charging privilages. (Key To The World card.) Pop has a limit of $500. What that means is, when you charge up to $500, that amount will be charged to your card and you start over again. So really there is no limit. MOST places all over WDW property accepts room charging privilages. Few exceptions would be like hair braiding kiosks, or some of the small toy carts. HTH

I have edited together a 2 minute overview of our first ever trip to WDW and popped it onto You Tube for those who are interested.

I have included a bit of the big jukebox at Pop Century where we stayed, and I hope to add more of the resort in the coming days. So this is WDW from the past 2 weeks:
