You can see the MK fireworks quite well from the lakeside of Building 4, 4th floor. I speak from experience. :)

During our stay there last August, we were always somewhere else when Illuminations was playing, so I can't vouch for that view. However, we could see the top of Spaceship Earth, so I imagine you could see the fireworks from there as well. We could also see the tops of the Tower of Terror and the Dolphin. It's a great location for both view and proximity to the food court and bus stop. :)

Literally, if you turn one way as you exit the elevator bank in Building 4, you walk into the preferred rooms that face to the Hippy Dippy Pool. If you turn in the other direction coming out the elevator bank, the rooms are all standard and lakeview. Sorry, I'm a tiny bit dyslexic and can't say for certain from memory which turn is right or left. Believe me, though, that the walking difference between preferred and standard in that building is minimal.

One of my friends was in Pop in Feb and saw someone trying to cook a frozen pizza in it. :confused3

I am still trying to catch up on this thread, but I read this and had to comment. Someone at DH's work tried to cook a slice of pizza in a toaster. It was the pop-up kind.

so you will be returning during the holidays? Also staying at Pop?

We'll be there Nov 29th- Dec 6th. We WERE staying at Pop until I mistakenly showed DBF resort photo threads....and he wanted to switch to CBR. :sad2:He's never been to WDW before and it just seems unmagical for me to tell him he can't stay where he wants. I should have told him it costs as much as the Poly. Maybe I would have won.

Just curious, if anyone has any recommendations for me.... I will be going to POP for two weeks in August of this year. So thats 4 months away. I would like to make a special request of which building/floor I will be on. Should I call right away? I'd rather call ASAP and get everything squared away rather than wait till a week before.

Also, I now have my flight information. I tried to add it to my trip through disneyworld.com, but every time I enter it, it doesnt look like it accepted the info/ So should I just call and give them my info directly?

I'm wondering if requesting 4th floor, 50's, and pool view is too much to ask for during a trip the second week of December. I've always stayed 4th floor and it is quieter. I love the 50's section but don't have to have it. I would like a pool view because I think I'll feel more secure walking back to my room late at night alone. I know that pool view for hippy dippy is prefered. I really don't want to stay in the 80's and 90's. It just doesn't appeal to me. So that's leaves the bowling pin pool.

So am I asking too much or should I pay for prefered?

If I were you, I'd just tell them exactly what you want, then hope for the best. I wouldnt shell out the extra cash to get a room thats 22 feet closer to the main building. :3dglasses

btw, Im a HUGE fan of 50's and 80's pop culture. So Im hopeing I get a room in one of those two eras. Which setting is better? How are the rooms decorated differently from 50's vs 80's?

Woo Hoo! I finally read all 137 pages of this thread!! And a few pages of the old one, too! It took FOREVER! :surfweb:

Thank you for all of the GREAT information!!! :thumbsup2 We stayed at POP in May of 2007, but I have learned SOO much so I feel a lot more prepared for our upcoming trip. We will be at POP 5/17-24. I can't wait!!

So again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! :yay:

Last year we stayed in the 50's Jukebox building #2, 4th floor, lakeview, room #2447. If you look at the 50's map on post one you will see that we were on the stem part of the "T" facing the lake. There was a tree in my way if I stood right in front of my room by the railing so I just walked about 3 feet back around the corner of the "T" (near room 2450) and saw them. Beautiful! One night I saw Illuminations(Epcot) and Wishes (Magic Kingdom) going off at the same time. Too Cool!

They really aren;t decorated any differently. They will have a shadow box with 50's or 80's stuff in it. And I think the wall paper border is for the year.

Maybe he will enjoy Pop so much that he will decide to go back and not CBR! :lmao:

I stayed in that same area in Dec 07. I saw both fireworks at the same time too. It was a mazing how the MK looked so far but so close at the same time.

Here is a picture of the drink machine I promised to post. It is really a bad picture, but at least you can see whats on it.

Assuming you made the reservation yourself and not through a travel agent, you should call the Walt Disney Travel Company (the number is on your resort confirmation) and give them your flight info. While you're at it, ask them to note your preferences for your room location. About 5 days before you arrive, call or fax your room requests again.

Good luck in getting what you want. Hope you have a magical trip. :smickey:
