I had my first stay at Pop last month and I was more than pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it there. I've always been kind of a Polynesian nut. But I couldn't get reservations there on short notice. I had an opportunity to make a kind of spur of the moment trip and PoP was available. I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat. I very much liked the theming (a 60s person here:woohoo: ) and the CMs were beyond friendly and helpful.:dance3: The food court also kept my appetite satisfied from early morning to late evening.
Definitely get "pumped up"! It's well worth the wait.

I agree with JRDMAN - my siggie has my TR for more details, but in a nutshell POP was our first ever value, and we loved it! :thumbsup2

Forgive me this is probably on this thread but I am one handed typing and scrolling after Carpal Tunnel Surgery...Have they done any renovations at POP in the last 3 years? Bedding? Carpet? Last time we were there it was a bit worn. We are going in 2 weeks and I am debating whether to switch resorts. Appreciate any help!

new matresses is all I've heard of. but I've been ther the last 2 Marches and I really didn;t think it looked run down, but it could be the particular rooms we had?

It is possible it was the room. I am just toying with a deluxe because the prices are so reasonable. The Matresses were the worst part of the room!
Thanks

We were there last month and our room was nice. We did have the new mattresses and they were great. We stayed in Building 10, 70's section.

Hi, all!

After a dozen or so visits to WDW throughout my life, I am finally staying on Disney property! (Pop Century) My husband and I have a March 2009 trip on the books. . . I've been reading through various threads----a lot of reading. . . And while I am surely rehashing many already answered questions, I'm hoping some of you will offer up your two cents?!

I believe I read somewhere that 3-5 days prior you can call and make requests/preferences (no guarantees) for your room?

Please share any information/experiences you have as far as 'what to do' (confirmation wise, etc.) just prior to departure. . .

Also. . .what rooms are considered quieter? If that is even a possibility? I'm guessing away from the pools. . .but if someone has previously stayed somewhere that seemed a bit more secluded or quiet, let me know? We have only requested a 'standard' room-----and walking/distance to the bus stops is not a problem for us.

Any advice for a first-time-resort-ee will be greatly appreciated!!!:thumbsup2

PS Something tells me this is going to get placed in the middle of an ongoing discussion. . .so I apologize if I "change the subject" and made an error in posting. . .

It's better to reconfirm about 4-5 days prior via fax. No gaurentees on requests though.
We stayed one year 1st floor, 70's back byt the lake and that was quiet. But remember being in a quieter spot puts you usually further from the buses and food court.

Hi, all!

After a dozen or so visits to WDW throughout my life, I am finally staying on Disney property! (Pop Century) ....

Hello there! If you haven't already, there are some answers to your questions in Post #1 of this thread, including suggestions from DISers for "quieter" locations. You're right that one of the keys is to stay away from the pools.

Enjoy the benefits of staying on property and have a great time!

For all of you celebrating...

We requested closest to classic hall and parking lot, and got a really nice, quiet spot on the parking lot side of the Lady bldg. There is landscaping that separates you from the actual cars in most places, so you really don't hear them also. We were only 5 rooms down from the preferred rooms, at a standard price.

I ALWAYS give my requests when BOOKING. I've never had a problem getting what we need. Don't leave it to the whim of the person working the desk when your fax comes in (you can fax to reinforce what you have already requested!)

Merry Christmas everyone! :santa:

DH and I returned last Sunday from a great stay at Pop. It was my second time there and DH's first. Everything went so smoothly during our trip that I kept waiting for something bad to happen, lol! Our plane arrived at MCO at 10:00 am, we walked straight down to ME and found nobody in line. We checked in, got right on the bus, waited less than 5 minutes and we were on our way! We arrived at Pop , again found nobody in line, checked in and were in our room within 10 minutes! I couldn't believe our room was ready at 10:45 am! We got our king bed request in building 1 in the 50's section, room 1253. It was a handicapped, connecting room (no roll in shower) and it was very quiet. No complaints at all about the location...it was only a few rooms down from the preferred rooms and was a quick walk to the busses and food court.

I had made the request for a King bed room when I made my reservation...I never faxed or called a few days prior to re-confirm my request either. King bed was my only request...I decided to leave it up to them as to which building as it didn't matter to us where we were.

Had no issues with busses to and from Pop...it seemed every time we got to the bus stop, the bus was either waiting for us and pulled up within a few
minutes. The longest wait we had for a bus was 20 minutes for a bus to MK on a EMH morning. We must have just missed the bus when we got to the stop. Otherwise, every wait was literally no more than 5 minutes

we didn't spend too much time at Pop since we were at parks most of the time. Anyway...had a great time at Pop and would definately return again.

Cepmom:,It sounds like you had a wonderful trip,I am so happy for you:). We had the same experince, but we had came In around 6:00am,and the buses at pop are great,of course your going to have those times like after the park closes or like you said on emh Morinings. Its great that pop was able to provide all your requests.

I do as well and then reconfirm with a fax. It worked for me the one time I did it.

We had a similar ME experience. There was NO one in the POP line...there was a HUGE ASMO/SP/MU line...we walked right onto a bus. Checkin was a breeze as well.;)
