The great News.... and the not so great news

i think a cool name for a girl that has something to do with disney is Alice. i mean it might be a little old fashioned but it has something to do with disney thats not too apparent. btw congrats! :cheer2: :hourglass

Poop happens! :lmao:

It can also make for some of the funniest stories ever but please only around other parents okay!!!

Don't be shy about the diapers...it is the only amo you will have when they are 13. Live in the moment and remember that once the stage is gone, it never comes back.

Also, take Grandma with you the first trip you make with the little one. Nothing is better than Disney with Grandma. My mom made a few trips with us and now that her health is failing and she does not come any longer, I am very glad she made the trips she did come on. They are memories the kids will always have.

Congratulations!

As for names (Penny (from 101 dalmations...if you don't mind naming her after a dog)...Morgan (Morgana)....Jim (or James)...I think from Lady and the Tramp...

I can't remember the wife's name! Peggy, from lady and the tramp...Faline (From Bambi)...lots of interesting names out there.

Would you also consider some of the live movies (Escape from Witch Mountain...Parent Trap?)...I think the girl's name was Samantha from Escape from Witch Mountain..long time ago that I watched that.

Congrats again.

Well, if it's a boy, he can be Michael ("Mickey" for short!) :thumbsup2

Or if its a girl, :earsgirl: I suppose you could do the Tom Cruise thing and name her Suri but spell it Souris (French for "mouse") :lmao:

We named our son Christopher - his middle name is actually my maiden name but to my mom he was always her little -

'Christopher Robin'

I am a teacher and please, please, please, be careful how you spell your child's name once you decide on one. I have taught so many kids with unusual spellings of their names. Parents want to be different, but their child ends up with their name spelled incorrectly all the time. For example: Justen/Justin, Britni/Brittany, Emli/Emily, Dawsyn/Dawson. This is just a pet peeve of mine!
Anyway, congratulations and have fun choosing a name!
:tinker:

Be very careful how you spell a name also if you want to be buying things in the future with the name on it. Our daughters name is Kelsey.. It was a very long time before we could buy ANYTHING with her name on it here in Canada. We got some things each time we went down to Florida. As for our son.. his name is Conner .. with an *ER* we cannot buy ANYTHING here in Canada with his name spelled that way, everything is *OR* I wish we could find things with his name spelled our way.. so be careful how you spell a name :)
Congratulations on the new baby!!

I was named Annette, yes, for Funicello, (and have never been able to find anything personalized). You could also think of Mickey Mouse Club alumni names as a source too. I agree with the comments about spellings, and add a caution about chosing names that are difficult for people to pronounce correctly. It is very irritating to go through life always having to explain to people how to say your name/correct people. Good luck!

I agree. People always mispronounce my name Shana  (Shay- nah) calling me Shanna or Shauna. I find even after I correct them they still get it wrong. I hated my name as a child but now I am learning to appreciate different names. My dd's are Tyrah (I didn't like Tyra Banks spelling--I'm not a fan-- Tyra just looks unfinished --though people always spell my daughter's name wrong LOL :rotfl: ) and Jaya (which I though would be simple to pronounce Jay- ah but some people look at her name and say Jiya).

Congratulations!!! What a happy time for the both of you!

You'll have plenty of time to pick some names. You could always have a "pet or nickname" name that is Disney related too...

Have a great summer!

Shaycamp21, it's so funny that you said that! One of my daughters is named Maya (pronouned My-ah). We chose to spell it the traditional way however I can't tell you the number of times that she has been called May-ah! We named our second daughter Ella and we haven't run into any problems with that particular name (at least not yet)!

LOL, and my daughter Shannah always gets Shannon. Do you see an N?

To OP, congrats on the new little one. And as you can see, choosing a "just right" name is a bear!

Congratulations and good luck with the names, that's the really hard bit, the rest of it is dead easy :lmao:

I named my first guy Niall (pronounced Nile), an Irish name. I was so surprised how many people pronounced it Neil, (although I shouldn't be because thats the way they pronouce it in Scotland). And yes its another 5 letter name which goes perfectly with the song.

I saw one of those soccer team stickers on the back of a minivan w/ the name "Cohen." 5 letters, rymes w/ Ethan & Mason--not that I'm even entertaining the idea of a 5th child, but I wasn't planning on the 4th either, and that worked out pretty well! Also, Leonard Cohen is one of my favorite songwriters/singers, so that would be cool....but not cool enough to get preggers over!

Congratulations!!!! Good luck picking a name...I know how hard that can be.

We also had to cancel our next WDW trip for the same reason as you. My due date actually coincided with our vacation :scared:

I hope your wife has a happy and healthy pregnancy :)

Hi there,

I went to Disney when I was six months pregnant - had a great time! Had to go a little slower, and napped when tired, but otherwise didn't hold back at all. It was fantastic! Hubby and six-year-old daughter rode Goofy's Barnstormer without me (I didn't mind a bit - not a big coaster person) and we rode Kali River Rapids once together (they did many times afterwards - it was safe, but there was one large bump against something that made me nervous, so I didn't ride it again). The pregnancy warnings are for Disney's safety - not yours, so check with your doc to get the "all clear", and enjoy as long as you feel safe.

BTW, we haven't been back with the wee one (now 18 months) yet - going in September for her first trip, and really really excited about it.

There've been many other postings about names - I too have watched the Disney princess movies ad nauseum - Aurora, Sleeping Beauty, Briar Rose all apply to Sleeping Beauty, as others have noted. Of course, others have named many princesses - Mary (for Mary Poppins) and Alice (for in Wonderland) are not too common names these days, despite their history. Course, my almost 8-year old is big into High School Musical - Gabriella and Troy are her favorite Disney names right now.

Take care, and if you have any questions about travelling while pregnant, shoot me a private email. I'd love to help.

Regards,
Sheila Gallant-Halloran

We went on vacation for a couple weeks and I was surprised at all the posts wow!! Ill have to write down a bunch of these names. As stated previously I wish picking a name was the hardest thing, and the rest was a walk in the park perferably Disney Park...:cool1:

So my wife and I were trying to plan the next trip (after the baby arrives) to Disney and we were figuring late spring but my wife and I wanted to go with another couple or family to take pictures with us, anyways last night we went over to her sisters house and we told them about our plans and they said they were going to WDW in May. So of course we jumped on ship and are scheduled to hit the World in May.:jumping2: I Haven't ever done a pre trip report before but Im sure I'll be doing one here in the future. It will also be our babies first trip to the WDW. I am so excited to for the next 10 months having a baby and being able to go back to WDW I think the time is going to go so slow:surfweb: but well worth it.

Congrats! Post-poning the trip is an excellent decision. My wife and I went when she was around 5-months, and even then it had a significant negative impact. Best of luck with the names... took us forever! ;)

I love Daisy for a girl. I guess it depends on your last name and how it sounds together.
DD#1 Quinn
DD#2 Kayda

Congratulations and keep us posted!

my sister in laws name is Glass, so we always teased her she was going to name her daughter Crystal
