DW has been waiting for 12 years for a new bathroom and now it's here!
I started at the weekend. The carpet has gone, the airing cupboard doors and frame have gone, the old shelves have all gone and I've started to remove some of the tiles (away from the wet areas) - there is two layes of tiles to remove!
New low voltage spot lights are in position in the ceiling awaiting wiring to the transformer.
Did discover a nasty surprise in the airing cupboard though - a switch that I hadn't noticed before. When I tried to operate it, it was completely solid. After some investigations I discovered it was for the electric shower, and due to it only being a 20Amp switch on an 8KW shower it had welded closed!!!!
This weekend I'm removing the bath, basin, electric shower and taking off all the remaining wall tiles. Then I will be putting new tiles up, re-installing shower (with new MCB/RCD unit, pullcord switch and hidden piping), fitting new bath and basin, laying plywood on floor ready for new flooring.
Then next week I will be replacing the bog, putting new doors onto the airing cupboard and putting a new floor down.
WISH ME LUCK
