The Good, The Bad, & the Nuts! ...ANYONE GOING MAY 8-15?

Unless he comes to the resort when I ck in on Saturday, he won't have a chance to take pics. When I'm having my "resort day" he will be waking up in Ocala and driving to Nashville with 3 teen-age-ish boys:dance3: :rotfl2:

Oh. Well... uh... I think I'm busy that day, come to think of it.

Hmmmmm....which scares you more.....following me around AKL all day, or being trapped in a car with a 20, 18 & 17 year olds for 10 hours or so?

THIS would scare me with just one of those three ages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Hi, Tanya. We're back from Florida and I'm trying to catch up and say hi to everyone on their TR's.

I know what you mean......that's why I will be on a plane and not in the car.:lmao:

Welcome home.....thanks for bringing the warm weather back with you! Your trip looked like a fun, relaxing one. Sounds like it's time to win the lotto and relocate. :thumbsup2

Tonight is his final performance in High School.. The Drama Club is doing "Twelve Angry Jurors" (originally known as Twelve Angry Men). He is not the Jack Lemmon or Lee Cobb character, but he is the other hot-headed bigot....and does a really good job. After eight years of going to all the plays this is the end of an era. Although he will probably be doing some the next couple years in college - it will be with different people.

On the trip front I have booked my Magical Express reservations. Since I am arriving at one resort and departing from another I had to do two reservtions - one for each end of the trip. I did it online....I suppose if I did it over the phone they may have been able to consolidate it, but it doesn't really matter as long as they get me where i need to go.

Five weeks from tomorrow is Mark's High school graduation....for the first time in.....ever practically....we won't have someone at the school. I graduated in 1984 - so from 84 - 88 "I" didn't have anyone there - then I married Danny in 88 and he had his two boys in school, then we started having kids....and now 23 years later - they finally got rid of all of us!

Nice car and even better licenses plates. We both have a Mark graduating this year. :goodvibes

Almost two months post transplant and am dealing with what I hope is a small bump in the road and not a hurdle.

Last Tuesday I had labs that showed my creatinine was higher...it had been in the normal ranges, but was raised a little. Thursday they had me do my labs again and get a urine culture. They wanted to rule out a urinary tract infection. After they got the results back they put me on leviquin....a very expensive antibiotic. Today was lab day again. Creatinine was even higher so they sent me over for an ultrasound. The first tech did the ultrasound the left and said she needed to ck it. I thought she was checking to make sure she got everything she wanted to see. When she came back she had someone else with her and they did it again....she was pointing at the screen and asking him if he saw this and that. Not what I wanted to hear. After I got home my nurse called with the results and said there was "nothing acute" that needed to be dealt with. I would have preferred to hear that "everything looked good", but I guess I'll take what I can get.

Friday I have labs again and if the creatinine is still high then they will send me over for a biopsy on the kidney to check for signs of rejection. I mistakenly thought since I had made it 2months that I was off to a good start. But apparently around 2 months is when they can start to see signs of rejection because by then the prednisone has been reduced.

The good news is that if it does get to the point of doing a biopsy and if it does show signs of rejection doesn't necessarily mean the end of the kidney. I don't know what they do, but they can fight back against the rejection. I don't know if they crank up some of the meds (like the prednisone) or what they do. But here's hoping things look better on Friday and I won't have to find out.

Oh, Tanya... this isn't the kind of news anyone would hope to hear! I too, hope that it's nothing to worry about, and that like you say, it's just a small bump in the road. I'll certainly be praying for you!:hug::hug:

Great picture of Mark. I know this is an exciting time having your last one to graduate HS.
I'm praying that your new kidney works out great.

Thanks about Mark - he is quite a character! He's my last to graduate High School, but in December my first one will graduate from college and it all starts all over again! He was supposed to graduate this spring, but due to some classes not working out :rolleyes1 he got behind schedule and will bow be doing his student teaching in the fall.

Tanya prayers for GOOD Lab results on Friday !!

Thanks all. I have been real good following all the doctor's instructions since the surgery. I don't know if you all know this, but 2 1/2 years ago my brother received a kidney transplant and less than a month later he died of a heart attack. He had complained of pains in his chest in the weeks between the surgery and his attack and was told that some of the medications could cause that. I have been diligent to the point of being a pest reporting every little thing that doesn't feel 100%. (Bret had previous history of heart problems - he had stents put in when he was in his 30s, was overweight, a former smoker, had partaken of some of the "stronger" stuff in his youth:rolleyes: and had an obstinate, "prove it", personality) So I wasn't too worried about following in his footsteps since I did not have his health history. However, I was concerned that they would not take my complaints seriously, so to overcome that I followed her word to the T. BUT, I have gotten bad about drinking as much water and fluids during the day as they would prefer. I am back to trying to get as much or more fluids down and am hoping that could help. When they put me on the antibiotic they also told me to make sure I am pushing the fluids....so I am hoping by doing better about that now it will help flush out my system a little better and bring the creatinine levels down. Fingers are crossed that Water will "cure" me.

Monday I also had the stent that they had put in during the follow up "repair" surgery removed, and they were also hopeful that getting that out of there would help things too.

your results and lab tests will turn out great good luck.
:thumbsup2

Dr. Dan know his stuff!:thumbsup2. Had my labs this morning, creatinine had dropped from 1.85 to 1.6. Doesn't seem like much, but they put me on dialysis when my creatinine reached somewhere between 5 & 6. I think normal is up to about 1.2 or 1.3

After labs we went for breakfast so I could take my pills. We had to stay in town until they called with the results so we wouldn't have to go back to town - it's about 45-50 minutes away. After breakfast we went over to his office, I had a book to read, and he was supposed to do an interview at 10. We had no sooner walked in when my phone rang. Fortunately she said it had come down enough to not need the biopsy. And that when they did the ultrasound they saw some "debris" that they think is residual from the urinary tract infection and/or from the stent removal the day before.

Now I just have to keep "pushing the fluids" :drinking1

Tanya, I'm sorry I missed this news earlier or I would have added some extra prayers. But it sounds like things are better which is good news.

Have a great Easter.
