Sure hoping it's all good. I've read lots of bad reports on San Angel's

My Grandchildren want to eat here for dinner, I've booked it. I know they pack them in tight, I know some have been disappointed. Reassure me I will not be disappointed.

Sorry, it is very over rated. They pack them in tight, you can not see what you are eating, and they have the nerve to put tables in what was the entrance way to the two bathrooms. They used to let people sit there while they waited for their tables now they have tables there. The food is so so, not the best. Stay away and I don't say that often.

The atmosphere is nice, especially on a hot sunny day. As you are aware, the tables are packed in tight. We didn't think the food was worth the money, but we only have eaten there for lunch. Sorry.

I will have to disagree. My dh make this place a priority each time we are at WDW. I love thier food - have had only one bad meal there - the pollo mole. I don't like the sweet sauce. The Mahi Mahi is incredible, as is the tortilla soup. The atmosphere is great. You know when you come in that it is dark, so if it is too dark for you....then leave :) They have candles on the tables, which do help! :) I say try it - if you don't like it, well, then at least you know for future trips!

Have a great trip!

if your g-children are wanting tex-mex this is not the place for it. we knew "going in" this was not tex-mex, but was still disappointed in the meal.:p

4 out of 5 against not a good review so far. I may have to have a Margarita Dinner and a dessert.

We like it here. It is not tex-mex and the tables are tight and it is dark. But the food is, to our taste, very good, and we don't mind the dark (the tight tables are another matter, but not a big enough deal to spoil the meal). We've eaten here with both my parents and my sister and brother in law, and a total of six people were happy with what they ate - and my brother in law is a very picky eater.

Check out the menu before you go, so everyone knows they aren't going out for tacos.

We like it. We make PS', but still wait for a table by the water.
We have had 2 - 4 adults in our group and we all have liked it. :) One is even picky.

Have you looked at this:

DH really likes the Mole Poblano - Grilled chicken breast served over a bed of chicken morsels, carrots, chayote chiles, with the classic sauce of spices and a hint of chocolate. He said the *chocolate* doesn't have a chocolate taste like you might think. Just gives it a good flavor. We have a local (authentic) Mexican restaurant that serves this too, and it doesn't taste anything like San Angel Inn.
I like the open market, dark, lights atmosphere. Fun. :)
Plus the boat ride afterwards -- great. :) Although I have read the rumor this is in the works to be updated.

I ate here last year (this is the place with the boat ride, correct?). I thought it was fine. We had a table for two and it didn't seem all that crowded or jamed to me (perhaps that was because we were next to a wall very near the "water" where the boats go by) . It was "dark" but I thought that was a little romantic. The food was fine (nothing to rave over but a nice dinner) and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Mexico boat ride - I had read that it was a snooze but it was very pleasant to me.

It's been several years since we've eaten there. I thought it was OK - it is definately not Tex-Mex. When we DID eat there, were were traveling with someone who spoke Spanish, so they asked the waiter what to order. It wasn't too spicy, yet flavorful. Like many EPCOT restaurants, it depends on your taste - you'll either like it or hate it. Personally, I don' t like Nine Dragons - while others love it.

I really think Disney did a good job with the atmosphere at this restaurant. As others have mentioned, the tables are packed rather tight. That doesn't bother me much. I've been to Mexico a few times, and at some of the outdoor eateries I tried, the tables were packed just as tight. So . . . that doesn't bother me much. In fact, it kind of lends an air of authenticity to it. (However, if I were packed into a table at the entrance to the restrooms, that WOULD bother me!) Also, as others have mentioned, it's definitely not Tex-Mex. The Tex-Mex food I've had actually tends to be a bit spicier than the food I've eaten in Mexico, so it was no great surprise that the food at the San Angel Inn was a bit more bland than the food at local "Mexican" restaurants. We enjoyed this one quite a bit, and it's definitely on our return list.

There are four thumbs up here (parents and two kids 14 & 12). We've been eating at San Angel since 1993 and have never had a bad meal. It's always a must do when we visit.

A good friend of ours is a chef/owner of a very popular Mexican restaurant. We've eaten at Mexican restaurants from here to Scottsdale and we even fancy ourselves fair Mexican cooks. The one thing all the Mexican restaurants have in common is nothing ever tastes the same from one to the next. I guess my point is, you won't know if you like it until you try it for yourself. I, personally, prefer my food spicier and hotter than San Angel; but, I still enjoy the food and surroundings.

San Angel is overpriced, go for lunch--it's a bit less expensive. For that matter, all of the restaurants are overpriced. I do have to agree though--I was not a big fan of the additional tables at the entrance to the restrooms. On the bright side though, those tables are much brighter and better lit. ;)

Enjoy!

I was the only one in my group of 6 who liked it. HOpe you have better luck.

The atmosphere and view are very nice BUT the food is simply mediocre. Not bad, but not memorable or delicious.

sorry

If I were you and there are several in your party that want to try it then I'd go for it!

DH & I ate there in June and it we thought it was a GREAT experience.

We both ate every bits of our meal and were full for the rest of the day. We will definitely go back on our next trip.

My suggestion to you is this:

Make your PS for lunch for the first seating. You will most likely get a seat by the water (which will elliviate some of the crowding if that's an issue for you). We did this sat by the water, didn't feel crowded at all, and by the time we left the restaurant was still not over half full

I had a tenderloin that was terrific. My date had the Pollo Mole and he didn't care for it too much... but then again, he's from Mexico.

They have the "Worlds" best Margaritas!... so far... I'm on a quest to find the best there.

It has been a while since I have eaten there but My DH and I have always liked it and plan to go again on our next trip. If you are unsure I agree with a couple other posters about making PS for lunch...that way if you don't like it , you didn't empty your pockets completely!:D Oh and whoever said that the margaritas are great was soooo right! They are the best that I have had anywhere! Have fun!!!!

I loved the atmosphere, but not the food.
Hubby is vegetarian and we had a hard time getting the vegetarian menu. I don't know if the menu is still set up the same, as we haven't tried it in a few years. But the main menu at that time had no vegetarian items on it.

I would suggest looking at the menu before booking. Its purely a matter of what sounds good to you?
We will look at it again sometime, the atmosphere is just to cool.
