The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Hey Freaps, my DH finally downloaded all our pictures so you are going to get some puppy pics and some vacation pics from the Smokies.

Here is our little Perle just a couple of days after we got her. Her legs are a whole lot longer now but she's still a cutie.:hippie:

Here is a pic of the kids at Dollywood. It was super cold but we had a great time.

And here we are on a hike just two days later and it was about 40 degrees warmer.:scared1:

What great pictures. You guys looked like you have fun and the puppy is sooo cute.

Marna I love your pictures and your new dog is so cute! Wish you had of told me again you were coming in- we could have taken you guys out for lunch!

What great pictures, Marna! :thumbsup2 The kids are always so cute....they take such great photos! How big is your puppy supposed to get? She is a little cute bundle of fur! :)

I thought about you Sunday morning right before we were getting ready to come down there. I was like "Crap! I should have arranged a meet.":sad2: I'm sorry.

Susan-they are herding dogs and I think they get to be about the size of a large lab.:confused3 I've never actually seen a grown one but their pups sure are cute.:cloud9:

Oh my gosh! I can't imagine her that big. She is so cute and little right now!!

Coming out of Walmart yesterday, there was a guy with a litter of bouncing St. Bernard puppies in the back of a pick up truck and they were ADORABLE. I got in the car and called DH and asked him if he would like a "cute little St. Bernard puppy" and he almost came through the cell phone at me! :rotfl2: I would have loved to have one and, if we were already moved to a bigger place, DH might have agreed.....maybe. :scratchin :rotfl:

I have to have a CT scan of my sinuses tomorrow. I have been having trouble with my sinuses and ears since this gravel pit opened next door. The scan is going to check and see if there is something in there that needs to be removed. The doctor says, at worst, I might have to have minor surgery if polyps are found. Has anyone ever had polyps in their sinuses? :scared:

Marna the pictures are great. The kids are getting so big and are still cute as ever. I love the family photo.
I showed DH the puppy and said see what I want for Christmas. I can not type what he said:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Susan a women I work with went thru it. She said it was okay

Ok, thanks. I've never even heard of them before.....another interesting life milestone. :rotfl:

Marna- How are you doing with your sinuses plugged? I can't even fathom a polyp in that tiny space :confused3 . Hope you are doing ok:hug: . BTW- your pics are adorable. I tried to take some of my boys at Disney this past June on the balcony of our room (I was on the ground). The only pics I have of them together, they are actually fighting on the balcony... Needless to say, I didn't have a picture for the Christmas card. ;)

It's not me, thank goodness, with the clogged sinuses. It's Susan(mtblu).:sad2: I hope they can figure the problem out and get it fixed ASAP. Thanks for all the kind words about my kids, the dog, ect. everyone.:grouphug: We very rarely get pictures of all of us together but DH found a perfect rock to set the camera on to get that one.

Has anyone heard anything about the Jan Brett book yet? I know last year we had someone who got recognized at school and that kind of let us know that they made it. I sent it to my nephews school and was hoping they had received it, but dont know when they make it, or if anyone knew anything.

Sorry Maggie, but I didn't do it this year so I can't help.:sad2: But, speaking of books, I am the middle of a great one. It is non-fiction so you might like it. It is called The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs and it is freaking hilarious. This guy is a half Jewish/half atheist writer for Esquire that decides he needs a more spiritual existence and decides to live by all the rules of the Bible for an entire year including stoning adulterers and other interesting incidents.:rotfl:

I got a great freebie in the mail yesterday. There was some sort of promotion by Stouffers(which I honestly can't even remember:confused3 ) and I won a fourth place prize-a $25 Meijer gift card. That's the first thing I have won in a loooong time. And it came at a great time since I was going to Meijer after work last night anyways.

We are going on a cruise next month so ill need something to do when I get tired of the casino with DH. lol jk

Well, that's what I get for trying to post when my kids have a snow day...:rotfl: Susan, I hope your sinus problem has a gentle solution. I cannot imagine how that must be  .

Oh man, Glass Castle was an amazing book. I was torn between being devastated by what those poor kids experienced and being jealous of some of the things.:confused3 This book I'm reading now would be great for your cruise. It is definately on a different spectrum than any others I've read and very entertaining so far.

i wrote it down so i can pick it up!! Thanks!

Maggie-
I was just talking about "Glass Castle" where I work (local high school) last week because they are trying to have Jeanette Walls come in as a featured speaker. Apparently some of the administration have concerns that some of the content could be inappropriate :confused3 . I wonder what they think teens are reading/watching these days?

have you read it? i dont think anything she would say would be inappropriate for HS aged kids...:confused3 lol I agree with you about what kids are watching. Now they say cuss words on tv all the time-- when i was younger that would have never flown...

Our local schools are pretty obsessed with creating a "safe' environment for all the students, however 'safe' seems to mean alot of censoring of speech and making sure all activities are appropriate. No drama/musical productions where anyone drinks or talks about alcohol, no inappropriate cheering/stomping at athletic events, etc. :rolleyes1
While I haven't read the book yet, in talking with one of the teachers who is backing the author's visit, I have put it next on my reading list.

Thanks so much! I have never had anything like this so it could be interesting. I have been having headaches, ear aches, and a frequent bloody nose and I should have done something about it before now. :rolleyes1

The doctor has put me on 4000 Augmetin XR a day (24 hour period) and the pharmacist seemed a bit alarmed by that. :confused3 I won't know what the CT scan shows until the 31st. That was the soonest I could get in to see the specialist that will be giving me the results.

DH says they will probably just stick a hose up my nose and flush my empty head out. That may very well be.... ;)

Are you guys in the east having rain this weekend? We were supposed to have a blizzard with sub-zero temps tomorrow but it has already started snowing here. Should make for an interesting weekend. DS is out of town with speech & debate until the wee hours of Sunday morning. If this storm coming early means it will move out earlier, we will be happy with that. Maybe it means we can get our driveway cleared in plenty of time for DS to get home. This will be his first winter driving by himself....he's not thrilled with the prospect of driving on snow and ice.

A cruise this time of year sounds like an excellent idea. Where are you cruising to, Maggie?

DH just got home and he said we got a couple of holiday invitations today. We don't normally socialize much because, by the end of December, we have been so exhausted with the school activities the kids have been involved with, that we just stay home and rest. With there only being one 'child' left at home, and him being so busy we hardly ever see him any more, I guess we should start accepting 'adult' invitations again.

One couple invited us to join them and some other friends playing board games. We usually drink when we get together with these friends. I was wondering if anyone has any experience making "mulled wine"? Online, it looks like you just heat wine up with some orange rind and serve it warm. Is that all you do?

The other couple that invited us over are the parents of DSs BFF that he just went to the concert with. I was surprised at their invitation but, maybe since the boys made the trip safely, they have decided maybe we aren't such bad people after all. :confused3 BFF is having a birthday party on Dec. 24 (I thought he had already turned 18) and they have invited us over for an early dinner and then they will be going to church for Christmas Eve service.

DH says he would like to join them and go to their church with them after the birthday dinner. Really?? I haven't been in a church....for so long I can't remember when the last time was!! If anyone will burst into flame for stepping into a church
flaminghead-runner.gif
it will be me!!! :headache:

So, if I don't post any more after December 24th, that is what has happened to me. :guilty:
