The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

I loved Savannah--wish I'd spent more time there when we lived in GA. Those pics are great!

Wow, sounds like you guys had a great time in Savannah! DH almost took a job there a while ago (I had asked HRH back then what it was like living there!) I wish it would have worked out, because it seems like such an awesome place. Great pictures! Can I ask, what was the name of the place you stayed? It sounds awesome.

We stayed at the Whitaker-Huntington Inn. It was nice. Like I said- I was not too fond of the dated furnitute in the "living room" but I liked the feel of having your own place. DH said- he prefered the breakfasts that you get at B&Bs. I like to wait to eat until lunch time, so I enjoyed not having to eat a big breakfast and then missing out on a yummy lunch.

You know what was REALLY odd- that was also a minus in my book, their water smelled like rotten eggs:scared: I said to DH- "why bother taking a shower?":lmao:

I did not want to ask the Innskeeper about it- but HRH do you know if this is normal for the city?

IF anyone is planning a trip soon, of course, be sure to have lunch with HRH:thumbsup2 and 2 other places that you must try that I learned about on Trip Advisor was, The Soho South Cafe on Liberty Street, right in town- nice and casual- a lot of locals. And you will need to drive to the 2nd place, it is called Toucan Cafe, it is on Stephenson Street- it seemed like a lot of the locals where there too.

DH and I like to eat at places the locals eat- b/c you know it is good. We are not too much into the touristy places. Both places had great veggie selections too! I usually do not have a hard time choosing a meal when we go out (b/c no one bothers to worry about putting good veggie meals on their menus) anyway- at both places I had a hard time choosing b/c they had quite a few veggie selections! HRH, be sure you and DH try both of these places!

And my drink of choice for this vacation was, no, not my chocolate martinis- it was Grey Goose and Tonic! OMG- Grey Goose is what good vodka should taste like!:cool1:

We also ended up driving to Tybee Island. It is about 20 minutes out from Savannah- we did not get out of the car. No offense to any Tybee Island lovers here, but being from the Jersey Shore area- there is NO comparrison!:confused3 I did not get the appeal. But- that is just me.;)

Hey Kellie!

Just checking in to see how you have been feeling this past week?!

I just finished watching last Wednesday's Sons of Anarchy! OMG- the last minute of the show was

I am okay. I was sick for a few days and got yelled at by the drs for not calling them. So DH has been told to take my temp at random times thru out the day.:scared1:
Now on to good things Jax is hot hot hot, When we watched it I told DH that you would love it.
I have not seen true blood. I should watch it. I think I have it on one of our dvrs.

:lmao: When you told DH that *I* would be lovin' the Jax scene, he was probably thinking- "........and you know this howwwwwww???.......":rotfl2:

Do you have On Demand?? You should watch True Blood from the first show! I can't believe the episodes just keep getting better and better- I LOVE this show! :worship:

I said I would post some other pics from my trip. I am trying to add them to my past post, but I have too many images in the one post so I have to put them here.

This was just one of the gates we peeked into- and look what we found on the other side!

Yes- I have one more day before I go back to work. :guilty:

Tomorrow, we are going to SILs and BILs (Karlee's house)- SIL is having a huge "pumpkin party". There are going to be 100+ people there- she is having a tent set up for painting pumpkins, there will be hay rides and games for the kids. (and Aunt Madd:rotfl2: )

I am glad I get to go to the party instead driving home from Williamsburg- so it all worked out for the best! :thumbsup2

He did yell at me also. But he throws guilt at me also. I knew I was going to the DRs on Thursday so I decided why call on Monday It could wait.:confused3 But I did good hiding a fever for 4 days.
DH was laughing when I told him you would be loveing the show.
No demand for us we have directv.

Loved the pics Madd. Makes me yearn to get out and explore the country. Thanks for sharing.

ETA - changed my info on the side.....what do you think?

Madd - great pictures and it is so cool that you got to meet up with HRH! I've never been to Savannah but seeing your pictures makes me want to go.

I love Grey Goose and Tonic! :lovestruc I usually add a splash of lime, I discovered them a couple of years ago when my friend was drinking them. Another one is Grey Goose and Red Bull if you need a little pick-me up.

Angie

Yay, Madd's back!!!:cheer2: I would have been even more jealous of your mini-Freap meet lunch had I known it was at Moon River Brewing.:headache: I'm rather fond of the beer there.:drinking1 Did you try the sweet potato fries? Those were sooo good. From your pictures, I think DH and I need to take an adult weekend there someday. We have only ever done day trips there for very short periods of time. :sad2: Charleston has always been our romantic B & B getaway but we may branch out next time(whenever THAT might be:confused3 ).

:rotfl2: Ironic- DH JUST walked downstairs and put 2 shot glasses in front of me. One had the cheap vodka and the other- Grey Goose. He told me to take the taste test- after a few sniffs and sips of each- I PICKED THE GREY GOOSE OUT!:cool1: Goes down smoooooooth!pirate:

Yup- love some lime with my Grey Goose and Tonic!:thumbsup2

HRH had the sweet potato fries! They also gave her a side of some kind of cinnamon dipping sauce for them- yuk- it was way too sweet!

DH liked the beer- he got the Stout and the Porter. He prefered the latter.

DH and I have been talking about moving to Savannah maybe for the winter months next year- not sure how that is going to happen since we own our home. Maybe we can rent it out?:confused3 Savannah is so beautiful. We have done Charleston in the past (we stayed in the haunted, Battery Carriage House Inn!) - but Savannah remains our favorite. It think it is more "quaint".

I do want to kick myself for not looking into "rentals" instead of the Inns and B&Bs though.

Check out some of these rentals-

Hey, if you rent out The Taylor Manor from that site, DH and I will pack our bags! You would have room, you know.:rolleyes1 Oh, I'm rather partial to vodka tonics myself with a twist of lime. I'll definately have to try the Gray Goose.:thumbsup2

My DD and college pals have informed me that if you take cheap Vodka and run it thru a brita water pitcher a few times in taste like the good stuff.:confused3
Now I know my sweet angel has never done this and just read about someplace:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I would take a few college kids to figure that out! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:
Now my 10 & 7 year olds can tell you that is a busted urban legend.
MythBusters did a few episodes with vodka myths. They took the cheap vodka and passed 1 through 6 times through the carbon filter, the cheap unfiltered and a high end vodka and tasted tested with an expert and two MythBusters. The filtered vodka did tasted better than the unfiltered but it was anywhere near as good as the high end stuff. So says MythBusters. ;)
