The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Marna- Did you guys stay put without the power? Is everyone thawing out? Glad you are back to normal and nice to see you back. I could swear there HAS been chatting going on; maybe it's been on the freebie thread.......:rotfl2:

I think I'm gonna have to visit LAST week's freebie thread to see what ya'll have been up to.:coffee: Yes, we did stay home and were quite comfy. I'm a country girl through and through. We had wood heat and I have a gas cooktop and a gas hot water heater. DH had to do a little MacGyvering to get the hot weater heater to come on since it has an electric starter, but he did get it to work for very short showers and he didn't burn the house down, so that's a plus.:lmao: The biggest problem, naturally, was keeping the kids entertained. We play doughed, scrabbled, painted, colored, read books, slid around outside on the ice and generally went insane.:hyper:

Kellie-hope the work situation improves and hope you get your disney trip soon. Think positve about the MRI and we'll all send pixie dust your way.

Theresa-sorry about vehicle problems. I'm hoping we can get several more years out of our two junkers.

Just a quick 'hi' before I log onto turbotax and start my taxes.....:badpc: Hopefully I will have :cheer2: news to report and not  . I have to share- my dog Buttercup is by my side, and boy is her breath bad!!! I am at a loss over what to do about it. My vet wants to do a cleaning, but it is way out of my budget. We brush her teeth at home, but I'm not sure how effective it is. Can you give your dogs altoids? Do they make any breath stuff that works? Seriously, it smells like bum sweat, and I really can't take it anymore! Any advice?

I now they make doogie mints and our pet smart has a huge selection for bad breath fixes for dogs.

I am back to work and it been a little crazy. My company is really feeling the bad times. I was back three days and they brought the myself and the rest of my Union committee in to tell us they would be shotting down for a couple of weeks. If we did not agree to this then they would be letting at least 20 people go.:sad2:
So I talked the CEO and the CFO into putting us all on work share. For those who do not know is a one day lay off every week. We work 4 days and collect unemployment for the 5th. But it saves jobs. So that starts this week. We had to pick Monday of Friday to be off. I took Friday's. But the next couple of weeks I will be off Wensdays. I have follow DR appointments. Plus I found out I need to get a MRI. One of my oncology Drs is worried about a lump.:confused3
I do feel pretty good. I am tired by the time I get home. ( I miss my naps :rotfl2: )

We are looking to take a trip in May to Disney. DH had told me when I first got sick that when I was better he would get me a prize. So we are looking at Disney.
Now I need to find someone to sit at the PC all day and hook me in to the dollar a day hotel.:rotfl2: I tried the site from work but they have it blocked.:sad1: DH will not stay at a value so I need a good deal on a Mod or mt dream hotel of GF.

Hi Kellie!

When is your MRI? This is for luckpixiedust:

That was a great idea to go to the big guys with such a great idea! I am sure everyone is very thankful that you saved their jobs! It is good to hear that some people are actually getting to STAY employed.

Have you looked into Disney's Buy 4 get 3 Free deal? I ends 6/27 so your dates should fit in just fine!

Just checking in real quick . This last week was a mess. My car broke down again and now I am off car hunting on a fulltime students pay:rotfl2: :lmao: and the process is so stressful. We have to becareful on what we decide to do as Nate and I are not working a lot right now but need a car to get back in forth to school and work. Of course this happens right after our trip to the WDW. But we will survive and I will check back in later this week after classes and we find a car to give everyone an update.

Here is a big :grouphug: for all who need them and some pixie pixiedust: for all of us who need a little right now. I hope everyones week goes well.

:grouphug: :flower3: :grouphug: :flower3:

Theresa, sorry about your car. I guess after you get it fixed so many times, you think about how that money could have went to a few car payments. I am lucky, DH is a mechanic. NOT lucky b/c he would rather fix my car than get a new one. That's a mechanic's way of thinking- not mine!:rotfl2: But right now the way things are, I will let him just keep fixing it.

Good luck!

.

Marna- good to here you have survival skills- and your DH getting an electric hot water heater to start when you do not have electricty- just amazing!::yes::

Did your kids enjoy having (not so) quiet time with mom?

Hey all!

Just checking in. We just got our power back after 138 hours in the dark.

Well it looks my dad can fix my car after all. I love mechanics that are part of the family and the best part it can be done for under a hundred. I am happy I hate car hunting. Besides I want to spend that money on the World, but I will keep a little aside just in case old betsy decides she is finally done. Off to bed I pop in tomorrow.:cool1:

Glad to hear about your car!! I hate unexpected bills as well, and I also plan to drive my car into the ground. Hopefully that won't happen for 10 more years.....;) .

Nearly a week since the last post? What is going on here?

Thank you to all that extended warm thoughts and kind words at the loss of our dog, Bailey. Losing a pet is so difficult, especially when you are home alone with them all day long. They become part of you. We miss her terribly and are trying to deal with it one day at a time. This was the first 'real' loss for DD, and it hit her much harder than she expected, as it did me. The house feels empty and cold.

Where is everyone? What is going on? Happy news anyone?

I am so sorry. I must have missed where you wrote your dog passed. I pop in and out from time to time and sometimes miss big news. I put my cat down a year ago in January and she was with me for 14 years. It was difficult. I wouldn't want to relive it, and I pray you don't have to do so for a very very long time. If you ever wanna talk know we are here.

I guess we've just all been busy lately. I know I have.:sad2: We have a lot of birthdays going on this week(including DS's 4th today) and it just seems like I have so much to do all the time.:confused3 You would think that February wouldn't be quite so busy.:confused3

I thought I posted here last week.

As for my MRI Madd I had it last Wensday. But they need to do another one. They show something and want to recheck me. So I will be doint aht and a bunch of other test this Wensday.

Things have been crazy here.

Yesterday I still had ice in my yard. Today it was 70 degrees! Is the weather like this everywhere???

Ok, freaps (especially the Kentuckian ones,) I need your help.

I'm looking for a hotel in Louisville to spend the night in the night before we fly to Disney world. My cousin was going to get me a discount at the holiday inn fair/expo for $49, but they are booked. :sad2:

I'm looking for something under $100 that's safe and clean. Any recommendations?

I can't remember where you live. Is it southern Indiana or it that Theresa?:confused3 Our power was off for about 4 days but we survived. It is in the low 60's and raining now-ice to mud I don't know which is worse.:confused3

As for the hotel in Louisville, I can't really help. We are only about 2 hours from there so I've never had need of a room.

Kellie- I will be thinking about you tomorrow- I hope everything turns out just fine!:flower3:

Alesia- maybe try Hotels.com, Expedia, Orbitz etc- or if you belong to AAA, they may have some hotels on their site and you can get a discount. Another tip- if you have an Entertainment book, you can check there too.

But before you book anything- just look up the hotels on Trip Advisor and see what people are saying about them- of course, take what they say with a grain of salt. ;)

Good luck.
